Atlam, people often devide the world in two categories the optimists and the pessimists, but they make the mistake of leaving out the realists. I am a realist. I can look at something and say that it is a bad thing, but that does not make me a pessimist. I can look at something good, and admit that it is good. I don't need to be an optimist to do that. So this glass half full or half empty mentality is good only in explaining the difference between positive and negative thinking, but not very meaningful in living that reality. Realism is the most important concept to uphold.
Not as hot today in sunny Malta, but we do get 40 + so we are not spared the heat. I don't know what is the humidity in your area though. Sometimes we have up to 90% humidity. How about that for pleasant weather?
The last one I heard on the subject is that there are more vounteers than there were guillotine men in the French revolution intent on cutting some of these balls off.
I for one, am 100% Maltese, if ever there was such a thing! Malta had been so many times invaded by all sorts of people, that tracing our ancestry is difficult indeed. Having said that, let me clear the part where you said that the British prevented the Knights of Malta from returning. That is precisely because they were not Maltese at all. They were called the Knights of Malta because they were based here.
Regarding other foreigners legal or illegal, we just cannot afford to have them here. They are most unwelcome. You must realise that emigration to countries all over the world, but mostly to Australia, the USA and Canada was a common occurrence for the Maltese, unitl afew years ago, and is still taking place now. There are many more Maltese living abroad than there are living in Malta. So are these illegal/ legal (not the EU citizens) immigrants going to come and stay here when Malta cannot contain its own people? That is the basic truth of the matter.
Granted that there could not be a mind or a soul without the body, I would say mind over matter. So it is the mind that leads over body. The soul is the projection of the mind and the body. So it is not a single item. It really unites both. I would even dare say that it is the soul that elevates the body, which has a mind, to the level that humans are.
I do not agree however that animals do not have a mind and a soul. They might not speak the way we do, but they show intelligence, comunicate with us in their own way, and some show nobility of sentiments that we humans fail to have not only show. Not all are receprive to the animal world and to the beauty of animals.
How well said Flower. That's right, don't let anybody take your power, or your money, or your house, or your husband, or your children or your country Dont let legal or illegal immigrants do it. You said it yourself when you said "anyone" Thanks
I think that the heading of the thread and the first comments differ. Character/behaviour are not interchangeable. Character never changes. It usually gets worse with time. Behavoiour changes a lot according to the experiences of one's life pattern. But women only have a radical change in behaviour when they go through a breakdown, like post natal depression. That can really change their life for the worse, especially since one characteristic of that breakdown is that they see that they are always in the right, and refuse to be helped. So they can never change, only get worse.
Interesting way of expressing yourself. Most people seem to think that the contributor to a thread is often describing or writing about some personal problem. So when you say that whatever you write here is not you, you are saying what most people should make clear to start with, before contributing and giving answers.
I don't understand why you say that English is the most difficult language to learn. I have been born and brought up with the English in Malta, and never found any problem making those subtle differences that are written in your sentences.
If you think that English is a hard language to learn, why don't you try Maltese? You would' nt get as far as the abc. We have a loit more letters than in the English language too.
Moods make a difference in our decision making. When we are in a bad mood, we would be seeing everything in that light, in a very negative way. When we are in a good mood, we would be thinking in a positive way. I would not make any decisions if I were in a bad mood, unless it is an emergency decision. My experience has taught me that taking decisions when I am feeling furious, results in mistakes that make me more furious. So I am taking the advice of the astrologers, the horoscope people....today Mars is in your sphere and is working against you. Dont take any decisions, just sit back and watch a video....kind of thing.
Hi Oslo, Hi all of you who have sent me birthday greetings. I am sorry I cannot respond to you all individually, so I am taking this opportunity to thank you all collectively!!
