RE: Please don't hate Muslims if you do

I feel embarassed by this post.

It's puerile.

RE: I´ve lost a lot of weight

Yes, and a husky.

RE: I´ve lost a lot of weight

Spending any length of time with Don is surely enough to drive any woman to the love of lettuce. laugh

RE: Please don't hate Muslims if you do

roll eyes

I didn't say the bible says to hate Muslims. I said the bible says lots of horrible things, violent things, hateful things. An example of that might be the bit where it says something about bruising your children during discipline is the only way to cleanse them of wrong doing.

If Christian people can pick and choose what is appropriate to their belief system without accepting every word literally, then so can Muslim people.

You have no right to accuse Muslim people of hating Christians any more than I have the right to say you criminally abused your children because it says you must in the bible.

There's a lot of good stuff in both holy books and there's a lot of culturally outdated and unethical stuff. Perhaps try listening to each other, eh? Love thy neighbour and all that jazz.

RE: Please don't hate Muslims if you do

The conflict we see arising on the forums regarding Islam seems to be because some non-Muslims listen to and internalise anti-Muslim propaganda. When Muslim people try to share how they personally understand Islam, they are shouted down by people who insist that they don't believe in what they believe in.

It's silly.

Each of us may explain our beliefs, but other people cannot insist we believe in something we don't. Beliefs are personal; regardless of teachings we will each have our own interpretations and understanding. Each of us has the right to express our spiritual belief system without being told we're lying, or that we believe something different.

RE: Please don't hate Muslims if you do

The bible says some pretty horrible things, but few people take it literally, or try to apply things that are culturally specific to a bygone era.

Most people have the sense to interpret a message of love and tolerance appropriate to a more ethical set of standards implied therein.

Nadeem, in the top right corner of each post there's a 'reply' and a 'quote' button.

If you hit 'quote' a person's post will appear with your reply so we know who you are speaking to.

I suspect a ploy.

Well done, Molly. thumbs up

RE: Dear Ladies of CS

Maybe an aficionado of spelling might be more useful right now, KB. dunno

RE: What do you think of radical feminists?

Germaine Greer in her book The Female Eunach suggested women empower themselves by becoming free lance secretaries instead of committing to one man all their working lives.

How radical is that?

RE: Dear Ladies of CS

Hmmm...so he prefers knobs to knockers...?

I think this is going to be a real heart to heart of a thread. thumbs up

RE: Dear Ladies of CS

Install a door bell.

Geez, I thought men were supposed to be the logical, problem-solvers. Just goes to show how wrong stereotyping can be, eh?

RE: The American Left

It's a lateral joke, Lindsy.

As in, "The American left the room."

RE: sun tanning

No, sun tanning has to be one of my least favourite things ever.

RE: Hypothetical Situation

If you can't trust your friends not to crap on you, ditch both of them.

Alternatively, work through your insecurities if it's coming from within.

Comment: Popper lacks the skills and maturity to be a funny guy amongst his peers. He appears to put little thought, or effort into originality. Must try harder.

Don't worry.

I glued their fingers to their phones. No one will notice the difference.

Hiding with mine after that beating with a big stick with nails in it we gave them.

RE: What do you miss most from your partner?

In your profile you describe in detail what you want from a partner.

As a partner, what do you have to offer?

RE: MASSIVE ARRIVAL OF IMMIGRANTS, CAN WE ESCAPE FROM THEM ???

Wouldn't it be more efficient to work with these countries so people didn't have the need to flee?

If work is done to stop them fleeing, will that be tantamount to facilitating persecution and entrapment?

RE: MASSIVE ARRIVAL OF IMMIGRANTS, CAN WE ESCAPE FROM THEM ???

If you want to escape from immigrants - emigrate.

One day a week for most of the last academic year, I travelled through Newport by bus. Newport in Wales is one of the hotspots for placing immigrants in the UK.

I'd usually sit at the back of the bus where it so happened most of the school kids also preferred to sit. I was struck by what an example to humamity those young people were. It didn't matter what age, nationality, race, religion, ability, size, or shape they were - they were inclusive, caring of each other and accepting. On occasion, they'd even include me in their conversations and banter without missing a beat.

I also became aware through some work I had at the time how asylum seekers were treated as if they aren't human. Many escaping persecution, violence, torture, FGM, etc., and yet they were uprooted from one place to another seemingly on a whim, or treated like criminals by officials. A lot of these people, adults and children alike, are totally traumatised by their experiences.

I would hope if I were ever in that situation someone might offer me shelter and safety. As such, I cannot say that it is wrong to offer those in need what I would hope for in their situation.

As to how places like the UK cope financially and practically, I guess we're just going to have to get creative.
