RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

I'm hoping you mean the Catholic church Fred. If you marry a Jewish girl, there will be no time conflict issue with religious service times. However, there could be a conflict as you mentioned with your parents because they were both of different faiths that had services at the same time. That would definitely be a problem.

It is also not uncommon for many Jewish children to have mixed faith parents today. The childen are strongly Jewish identified but a bit more open to understanding and dating a partner of a different faith. My son being one of them.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

I assure you if you are both open to going to each others house of prayer, it won't be a problem if you decide to go to church and synagogue at different times.

Reform synagogues have mixed fatih couples. That is not unusual at all. Now for the church, the wife won't take communion but certainly she can be there sitting next to you as a visitor every week if she decides. The church does not forbid that.

Most churches have several Sunday morning masses, Wed evening masses and even the biggest turnout of the week mass on Saturday afternoons. Reform synagogues have their services on a Friday night and have Sunday school for the kids on Sunday mornings.

I don't see the conflict. When I was married, it was not unusal for me to go to the Baptist church with my husband on Sunday and he went to the synagogue on Friday nights. Religion was not a conflict in my household. I have also been to the Catholic church as a visitor while the other person has taken communion.

Anyway, I wish you the very best in finding the right person who adds spice, meaning and fulfillment to your life. If the religion difference can be worked out, then you are in the home run stretch for sure. Best of luck to you Fred on your endeavor.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

Interesting point Fred but do you think that Hamas will allow Fatah back into Gaza and try the co-rule thing again like when Israel pulled out of Gaza and gave the Palestinians a chance to rule themselves? I haven't seen Hamas offer their hand of peace to welcome back their fellow Palestinians to Gaza and give it another try? Have you?

When Hamas truly wants a peaceful co-rule in a unity government and demonstrates it in a civil respectable way without bloodshed, then by golly I think Israel might really believe that they are sincere. Until then....it's just alot of camoflage smoke being blown around so to speak in the Palestinian Halls of Justice.

JMHO here.

New tunes for SB..."Here we go round the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush, the mulberry bush" or "Ring around the rosy, pockets full of posies". Just kiddin SB, we know your old tune. It's the same everytime you write. You haven't added any new jingles to it for at least the last 3 years now.wine

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

I think we may go on record as being the snowiest winter in many years. And this isn't the end of our snowy season. We've had more than 50" of snow so far since November. We've even gone weeks with snow everyday and then get a one day reprieve only to restart again. You need snow shoe tennis racket things on your feet to get around here on some days like today.

I am in the secondary snowbelt and get the Lake Erie snow machine and the Alberta Clippers baring down on my area. In the summer, we get the tornado warnings. Nowhere in this country are we immune from whatever nature wants to unleash on us at a particular time.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

They can't even rule themselves in peace SB even with Israel pulling out of Gaza and giving them that chance. I'ts a moot point SB andyou know it.

Eventually, the Palestinian citizens will violently overthrow Hamas. The same will happen with Hezbollah as they are non gratis to the Lebaneese people at this time. They are waiting to see what happens in the other countries first and then they will seize the moment. Then there may be a chance for peace depending on who enters the picture to lead the people next.

You can argue all you want and cry foul regarding Israel but never do you cry foul to what Hamas has done to their own citizens. You're harping constantly on Israel. Surely you have watched the Palestinian Media Watch videos of Hamas rule. If not...time for you to get educated a bit. And those videos were made by Hamas for the world to see.

Israel has done nothing to support these brutal regimes of her neighbors and she doesn't need to either. These brutal dictators literally wind up being eliminated by those who they choose to brutalize....namely their own people. That is the history of the rise and fall of many civilizations in the world throughout history.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

Never thought of it that way Wow!! Interesting comparison though.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

We've been in the throngs of blizzard like conditions here Wow. I have to get outside and dig out from 9" of snow that fell between 1:30am and probably around 11am this morning. You can better believe that everytime I can, I make that trip to Corky and Lennys for a corned beef sandwich. Hopefully Fred will someday get that opportunity too. He will be quite inspired and relish his Jewish roots.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

OMG, I am now in a mood to drive all the way to Cleveland, Ohio for a Corky and Lenny's kosher piled high supersize corned beef sandwich. It's unreal Wow!! It takes 2 hands and then some to even hold onto it and a huge appetite to even consume it. As we say over here, "It's to die for!" meaning "I'm dying to get my teeth into it because it's so good!!

Fred, if you're ever up in the Cleveland area, this is a definite must have. You will feel the Power of God when you bite into one of these.teddybear

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

The big key sentence in your posting is "If there is an opportunity to improve Israel's relation with the emerging Arab democracies". You said it absolutely correct here.

Israel most certainly has a right to be cautious. Israel first has to see if there will be democracy established in the rebellions of these countries citizens. Countries that have been against her from the start. If they can't establish peace amongst themselves, Israel will be in no postion to defend anyone else's peace or even make any goodwill overtures. She can only defend her own borders from invaders who want her annihilation.

In respect to your comment regardng significant overtures that Israel can make, I think the most significant thing that Israel is doing is to tend to the affairs of her own citizens and not meddle in the politics and affairs of her neighbors who are fighting amongst themselves. That is quite important significantly for her survival. Basically, she doesn't belong fighting everyone else's internal battles. She fights for her own survival and has paid a dear price for that.

I respect your views though. It would be nice to see this world a much more peaceful and safer place for the future generations to live. No matter what part of the world they live in. That is the hope for most parents I believe.

Our CS member Alexy has permanently moved to Israel. We do not hear from him. And he is not even Jewish and has not moved there for a job either. He is one of the most decent Russian Orthodox and level headed political thinking guys you could ever want to know. I miss him alot. His speciality is political science. He is extremely worldly knowledgable and truly a CS gem and a peacemaker of a guy. Hopefully, he will someday have some input into a peace process seriously somewhere in this world. He has a natural gift for sure.kiss

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

From that posting, It clearly answers why Israel should not be going into any of their neighbors political strifes and rescuing them. The citizens of these countries do not even have a stable government so it makes no sense whatsoever for Israel or any country in the world to intervene. Many of these countries have been politically very anti Israel to begin with and have expelled, killed and tortured their Jewish citizens in the past. Not one of them has sent in their troops to ever protect the Israelis from other arab countries that have attacked them over the years. So Israel has no place going to these country's rescue in spite of some misguided Israeli citizen's newspaper blogs. Seriously, would you go put your life on the line and try and solve these arab neighboring country's political unrest. But thank you all the same for posting this article. It is an eye opener for sure.

Your article posted:

Murderous violence in Libya, ongoing demonstrations in Yemen, Iran and Bahrain. The first buds of protest have sprouted in Syria, Jordan, Morocco and Algeria. In Egypt and Tunisia, the tyrants were driven out, but the new regimes are still far from taking form. [/b

All these revolutions, those in full swing and those on the way, are not the same, but it can already be seen that things are going to change. Better or worse, democratic or fundamentalist, a new Arab order is about to be set up.

The Arab and Muslim world is undergoing an agitation the likes of which has not been known before and nobody can predict its consequences and repercussions.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

I think that this site is probably doing the Israelis a favor by not having them post. If they did, probably there would be more scam artists sayin they are from Israel and inciting up more anger against Israelis in general. Even if the imposters are not from Israel whatsoever.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

I don't think so Paldi. The US has reached out and tried to help people all over the world in countries that these brutal regimes have wrecked havoc in. But does the world say thank you to the US?

Overall, I'd say "No!" The world overall is anti US. And the world is so anti Jew aka anti Zionist aka anti Israel. So I see no reason why Israel should be involved in solving their neighbors political strife issues. The US has been slapped over and over and over again for their intervening. And the Jew has been slapped for just being a Jew for many centuries even.

The only heartwarming thing I've seen lately is the American Vietnm Veterans visiting over in North and South Vietnam and meeting with former Viet Cong rebels. And both these soldiers apologizing to each other for that war many years ago. But the newer generation of North Vietnameese is a bit different than their forefathers with nuclear energy in the delicate balance. I won't go further on this topic as that will sidetrack this thread.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

My comment was an answer to your question asking why all Jews aren't moving to Israel. It really comes down to the choices of whether someone wants to based on the situation of where they are currently living. Just as it would be the same for anyone wanting to immigrate to any country of the world.

True, we don't close our eyes to the world but we do consciously make choices of where we want to live or where someone else makes the choice of where we are allowed to live. handshake

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

Where these poliitcal refugees go is not of concern to Israel. Israel rightfully will help to resettle Jewish refugees from these areas. Operation Solomon in 1980 airlifted 1000s of Ethiopean Jews in 1980 and has settled many Russian immigrants. However, there were those who proclaimed their Jewishness and actually were not Jewish that got through. So right now, Israel has enough of her own problems, politics and fight for survival to deal with considering the hostile enemies who keep firing at her and who keep vowing for her total annihilation.

I don't see the world nor any arab country coming to her rescue sending in troops to defend her when she is attacked or has been attacked. So I see no reason why Israel should go in and settle the political strife that these greedy brutal dictators of these countries caused for their own ciizens.

It is time for the citizens of the countries living under these brutal regimes to take back their country from their dictators. Israel has no business in their politics and wants no part of their politics either.

This explanation should be very easy to understand Paldi.teddybear

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

Just wonder why all the Pro-Palestinian cause members on this site arent't exactly flocking to go over and live in Gaza or the West Bank? It's a curiousity why they seem to tout how bad the Jews are but don't take themselves to live over there either? teddybear

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

What you've stated her is so true Wow. Seems people from these countries that are in political strife want to go to Israel for refugee status. Why is it that their fellow arab countries who are not in political turmoil are not pushing to take them in as temporary refugees? It's obvious to me that Israel has a democracy that is more stable and embracing than the countries of origin of these immigrants. And yet we hear the mantra of "Death to the Jews". This is a very strange thing for sure.drinking

RE: Libya - Latest Updates

Or this madman might wind up going into an underground spider hole bunker like where they found Saddam Husein hiding out. Certainly not impossible.

If Ghaddafi's rebel countrymen find him first, he will no doubt be quickly strung up on gallos or beheaded for all to see and chant their frustrations at.

Eventually, these cruel dictators pay the ultimate price for their years of power, greed and brutal oppression of their citizens. Like the saying, they have to "Pay the Piper" as in the Pied Piper story.

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

What you are saying regarding uprooting of Jews from Gaza forcefully is so true. The IDF literally uprooted the Jews from there because of the glowing potential for the peace process to move forward with the Palestinians having their own government and land area.

Right after the Jews were forceabily uprooted, the Palestinian peace process amongst their own political factions went bloodlust crazy. Israel gave safe passage for Palestinians to go to the West Bank for safety from their bloodlust Hamas brethren. An yet the Palestinians want to annihilate all the Jews in Israel?

Has the world gone crazy and forgot that Wow? Obviously the answer has to be YES. Such ungratefullness. If the Palestinians cannot even live without bloodshed to each other, then how in the heck can they ever live in an indepndent peaceful state of their own? They are not compatible with each other even.

He obviously did not leave this community due to persecution. Left for a job opportunity and maybe just a bit of something a bit more Jewish to him. I beg to tell you differet that most Jews don't go to Israel solely for economic reasons. It's hard to get established over there in high paying occupations unless you have some special skill or knowledge that Israel needs desperately. Would be like that in other countries too who would pay your way to bring you there if you have something they need. Makes perfect sense and logic in that respect only...but not if you are immigrating out of a country due to fleeing for your life and being embraced by Israel as a Jew. There is a huge difference in that respect.

I don't know of any US law that denies anyone who wants to emigrate to another country from taking their money and furniture with them if they are a law abiding US citizen. If the guy wants to leave the US and take his money and furniture with him, the US government gives them the right to do so. That does not happen in too many other countries where Jewish persecution has been rampant.

As far as these other countries outside of Israel, Canada, and any country that is not in political strife with it's citizens in violent revolts, Jews are safe overall albeit the occassional "nutjobs" around. But once the politics turns ugly, they start yelling at the Jews and then the situation for them turns risky to remain there any longer. That is what my point is whereby I listed the history of Jews in countries and what occurred to make them leave. To change the premise of what I was responding to in your comment is absurd Paldi.

Just a thought, perhaps this guy may think he will make out fnancially better in Israel to sell his furniture there. Must be quite valuable to take it with him.

But thank you for being polite on this issue and not cursing at me with our different views. peace

RE: Anti-Israelism/Judaism....,A "normal" state of thing´s....?

Their compensation time will never come in their lifetime. That you can count on. If the citizens of these countries now are revolting against their own regimes, they will be too busy fighting and killing each other to worry about the Jews who were brutalized and forced out in the past.

For those Jewih survivors still alive, the only compensation and closure is the embrace of their fellow Jews and peace of mind they got to get out of those countries with their lives and be brought to Israel.

Of course Israel will absorb them. A growing Jewish internationl population in Israel is a natural occurance due to the persecution and expulsion of their fellow Jews in other middleastern countries.

Frankly speaking, you can thank the brutal Muslim and other political regimes of past and present for Israel's growing population and popularity amongst the Jews worldwide.

Shalom!!peace

RE: Have you found that special One.....A missing link.....

A couple of other people I have found is my first boyfriend I ever had and also my high school best friend in Israel. I hope to see her at our 40th class reunion on April 30th. We will be both crying our eyes out for sure. I held on all these years to the last letter I received from her when we were 18 yrs old and she had moved away. What's really strange is that my hobby is daylilly growing and her and her husband's business is daylilly growing and exporting. Now how uncanny is that for sure?

Miracles of knowledge that the internet age brings.thumbs up

RE: Have you found that special One.....A missing link.....

Found my 1/2 brother from my father's WW2 marriage. We wrote briefly in 2007 and then he stopped writing. I don't know what happened after that. Even letters I send directly to him via postal service go unanswered. I had searched for him for 27 yrs. I think I opened a Pandora's Box for him and he is not ready to let go of the pain of never having known his father in his life.

Sadly, I have told him that everyone from our father's generation is gone and there is no one to give him any answers as to why his parent's divorced or why my father made no attempts to include him in his life. He knows absolutely nothing about his father as his mother kept it from him. All he has is a box of pictures. I would be upset too but I would not hold it against the children of my father's second marrage.

All I can think of is that coming back from WW2 and suddenly having a child, my dad wasn't psycholgically ready for that yet and marital problems ensued. Or perhaps he caught his wife out with someone and filed for divorce and felt that the child wasn't his. They had no paternity testing back then. Or else I have no idea why my father abandoned his child.

Even stranger, my 1/2 brother's residences in this country mimicked the same communities where my younger brother and my father's other family relatives have lived throughout life. Yet the family paths never crossed.

He resides in Portland, Oregon. I don't know how to reach him when he won't write or call me. And I won't just show up on someone's doorstep either. Any ideas that are not expensive?

RE: Priorities of a 5 year old

This was really good. This little girl has her priorities straight for sure. There was another video listed with this clip called Turkey Around the Rosie. I didn't laugh at that one as I well recall getting chased by a flock of 5 grey gander geese. I opened the car door as I came around the corner running and jumped in panting real hard. It's scary as hell getting chased by 5 geese. Surprised to hear the litle kid's mom laughing in the video.

Those damn birds didn't bother my husband at the time(he was a country boy)but went after me(I'm from the New York City area). He says they love to terrorize city folk so you are their entertainment. And they peck darn hard too. If I weren't wearing bluejeans, I know they would have drawn blood from me.
