RE: Just curious, is that right looking for dating after over 50 years old?

Moonlove,

Sure it's normal to date after 50 yrs old. Love doesn't end with just your youth and stop after 50.

I was divorced and remained single for 17 yrs to raise my son. Wouldn't date or even flirt with anyone. My boyfriend was a widower for 2 yrs after being married for 30 yrs. He was very lonely. After a period of time, we both had taken the leap of faith and decided to start again and meet someone and maybe fall in love again.

Well...for each of us, we had only met 1 other person on the internet and there was no chemistry. We met here and found we were right for each other. It's now 2 1/2 yrs together and we are very much in love and enjoy making a date with each other every weekend and do projects, movies, dinner out, hang out or take in a museum, fair or mini trip. We also cook homecooked meals together and share the work. It's a wonderful time of life. No longer lonely. We are both empty nesters.

We are there for each other when times are tough or there is something worrying us.

Somewhere I read that people who have a companion in their later years live longer and remain healthier overall. Might have read it on CNN Health segment.

You have a good mom and encourage her to meet someone for friendship and companionship. She will never forget your father much like my b/f can never forget a happy 30 yrs with his wife. heart wings

BTW, it was my b/f's daughter who convinced him to meet someone. He sat and cried all the time on the weekends from lonliness and grief in spite of going through grief counseling.

RE: I am dating a lady with emotional issues.

Don't generalize all of us as having emotional issues and we most certainly do no all take medication.

I have no old baggage to bring to my relationship and nor do I take any meds.

RE: The moment NOW

Hi Tony,

I did not know that you had also addressed this for Kitty as possibly a dream state. As you can tell when this happened to me, I was in a dream state. Definitely from stress.

I believe the mind shuts down to protect itself from destruction by going to sleep and stay in that state until it is ready to come out of it or is awakened from it.

Perhaps it's because people with a "silver tongue"(aka a sharp tongue with nasty words)get the silver to peel off onto the duct tape. Guess they are kept silent with that silver gag over their mouth.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: If you found a way to stay young and live forever, but others will grow old and die, will you do it?

No I would not! I could not bear to see my son and his friends or my family get old and feeble and die in front of my eyes while I selfishly kept my youth forever. When we're done living and gotten old enough, it is time we step aside and make room for the young to live their lives to the fullest.

Somehow your idea reminds me of the movies, "The Picture of Dorian Gray"(Grey?)or "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."

RE: Can you name someone at CS who has made a positive impact in you?

There is not enough thank you's in this world to ever say to my aunt when she was here. I always thanked her and let her know how appreciative I was throughout life, believe it or not.
My older brother called her the General for short or General Kahn as he would say. When she spoke...you listened and acted appropriately. No slagging off in her book for anyone. Slackers would be in for a big battle with her...all 5 feet tall of her at that.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Can you name someone at CS who has made a positive impact in you?

Sorry, I missed that you wanted to know of a CSser who made a positive impact on our lives. Well...everyone is my answer!!wave

RE: Can you name someone at CS who has made a positive impact in you?

Nah, don't worry...most of us understand exactly what you were referring to. As you can see, some of the guys will take this rather different sometimes in jest but sometimes in seriousness and get carried away a bit too much.
Your question is very sincere and hopefully you will get some very good answers.

I will answer your question from my experience in life. My father's sister who took my brothers and I in to her home after my parent's died is the person who inspired me most in life and has had a serious impact on me.

We were 13,15,(my age) and 17 yrs old when orphaned with our parents dying 4 months apart from different diseases. My aunt stood up against her own husband and challenged the rest of our family and even the so called friends that said she was doing the wrong thing to take us in. Everyone else turned their backs and didn't want to bother with 3 teenagers. The loss of our parents and what we saw and lived through as they were dying at home was unbelievable for a child to witness. Her courage to stand up in the face of adversity and listen to her own heart almost caused her a divorce after many years of marriage.
Well, her marriage endured and my brothers and I were not split up and sent to different orphanages as was prior arranged. I was so close to her all my life and so very grateful for what she taught me what it means to stand up for what you believe in and do the right thing.
I was at her bedside as she was dying at 99 yrs old and we talked about life as best as we both could recall. She told me also who was in the room from the spirit world and what they were saying to her to tell me. It was amazing to speak with a woman who knew what was going on in this world today still and yet was able to communicate with those who died before. She had no dementia whatsoever either and told me what her body was going through in the stages of dying at the time also.
She died on my birthday in 2005 and about 2 hrs later than the time of day that my birth certicate records state that I was born many years earlier.
And yes...she still makes her presence known to me all the time when she leaves me pennies when there is something I am very seriously worried about. And she has literally shown her spirit form presence to a neighbor to give me a message back in 2007, as showing herself to me would have terrified me at the time. Her message was very accurate.
So yes, this is the person who has made the most impact on my life and in my life.

I don't know where Stress is and you can better believe I have nothing to do with wherever he has his body right now. Maybe a baseball game or a soccer match you may spot him.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Can you name someone at CS who has made a positive impact in you?

I agree! My spanish is rather rudimentary as I did not pay very good attention to the teachers when I was in school years ago. However, as broken as my spanish is, I can be understood as best as a gringo can be understood speaking a spanglish combinationrolling on the floor laughing

RE: Can you name someone at CS who has made a positive impact in you?

I am not a dirty vixen...it is you. You little stinker, you hijacked Madeline's Philosophy thread today. Now talk about being dirty there. Have you already forgotten the stuff you wrote on that thread? Please don't literally answer this question here as it is only a question for you to personally think about introspectively.

Hopefully it won't be revisited on this thread so this one won't get hijacked. Just try to be courteous to Azul.

RE: Can you name someone at CS who has made a positive impact in you?

Azul,

Perhaps it should be worded as "a positive impact on your life."wave

MADELINE'S 18 PHILOSOPHICAL LINES TO MAKE YOU SMILE-

Guess I'll get off here too! Sounds more like the thread has gotten hijacked at this point by them. Can't seem to get them back on track. Hopefully the thread won't get locked over any fighting. It was posted to brighten everyone's day, not to make people mad.cool

MADELINE'S 18 PHILOSOPHICAL LINES TO MAKE YOU SMILE-

They just don't get it Sultry. They seem to want to fight over you for your attention no matter what I say. Boys will be boys I guess. Perhaps a sweet word from you will quiet down the beast in them.rolling on the floor laughing

Well, I guess I was wrong Christmas. You pushed the limit and you got through the wall to him. Happy writing. All's well ends well here!heart beating

RE: Solitare: BRING DOWN THE WALLS

I wouldn't bother him Christmas. Beware...he is a very private man. Take this precaution seriously or you may open a Pandora's box that you would not want to deal with. Respect his privacy and don't push the limit!!

MADELINE'S 18 PHILOSOPHICAL LINES TO MAKE YOU SMILE-

Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your family and friends!
Life is too short, enjoy nature, and thank God for each day you have to enjoy your family and friends in...

And in respect for our atheist and non-Christian friends, may you thank whomever you chose for the joy of living each day to enjoy the beauty and love that surrounds you to your fullest with family and friends.(hope I have left no one out)

You'll notice that there CS names behind a quote and that is in honor of those CSers. Hope no one gets mad or feels left out. hug rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Banning the Burqa in France

I definitely am not worried Ray. You humor me quite a bit and I bust up laughing. Somehow you come across as "If ya can't dazzle us all with brilliance, then bewilder us all with bull$*@#."

We all know that you love to rattle a cage a bit(especially mine) so I as well as others just let you rant on a bit with your conspiracy of the week story. You read like a suspense thriller every week...quite entertaining as you say.

It must be very spiritually therapeutic for you to release all your frustrations about the world to us, especially your frustration with the U.S. and Israel. Truly, you do have quite an obsession with these 2 countries. It's OK, we'll let you vent a bit. That's what we're here for. Occassionally, someone will reign you in a bit when you get a bit too offbeat.

I humbly and eagerly await and look forward to your next conspiracy theory and story of the week.bowing wave
