RE: My son is coming home from Iraq

I salute your son with great deal of respect and thanks for a job well done. However, when he comes home, hopefully he will not talk of going back to do another tour. They often feel guilty leaving their comrades there when it is their time for discharge home.

Hopefully, you will be able to convince him that he will be able to do more for his country and family by being home for a change.

RE: my best friend for 10 years ' the alcoholic ' died today from cirosis of the liver

I'm very sad for your loss. The loss of a friend is terrible. With friends, we have shared so much of our lives and secrets, our laughs and our crys. No one can ever take their place in our heart.

RE: What have I missed?

Hi Sweethowen,

It's been awhile since I have kept up with the threads in general. I had heard through the grapevine that something sad had happened to our Doc just before you were to meet him. Do you keep in touch with him as a friend? Is he OK? Don't notice that he writes in the forums much.

Woman Miraculously Cured of Cancer...

Here is the article on CNN.com posted today. What do you think? Guided mental imagery perhaps? Divine intervention? Or combination? Some other explanation? Or miracle?

I think that chemo along with her praying somehow strenghtened her immune system to destroy the cancer cells.

Archdiocese To Probe Annapolis Cancer Cure
Investigation Fifth In Archdiocese History
POSTED: 5:01 pm EDT June 28, 2009
UPDATED: 7:39 pm EDT June 30, 2009

BALTIMORE -- The Archdiocese of Baltimore plans to investigate whether an Annapolis woman's cure from cancer was a miracle, a possible step toward sainthood for a 19th-century priest.

Mary Ellen Heibel, 71, was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital in 2004 and early 2005 for malignant tumors in her lungs, liver, stomach and chest. She said she's never forgotten the day she was diagnosed.

"Walter Reed (Medical Center) told me to go home and die on May 11, 2004. They said I had six months to live," she told 11 News reporter Lisa Robinson. "Try it if you're a non-believer. It won't hurt. You have to try it. The only one who can heal you is the Lord."
- Mary Ellen Heibel, Cured Cancer Patient

After she was diagnosed, Heibel was told by Johns Hopkins that chemotherapy was the only treatment. She started chemotherapy and began praying to Francis X. Seelos and urging others to pray as well.

A few months later, she got good news.

"He said, 'Your tumors are all gone.' From the time I started the novenas to the time I got the last CAT scan, the cancer had disappeared," Heibel said.

Heibel, who experienced a recovery her doctors did not expect and couldn't explain, said she continues to pray to the priest, who served in Maryland before dying in Louisiana while treating yellow fever victims.

The doctor who treated Heibel at Johns Hopkins has since moved on, but he has reportedly said chemotherapy doesn't entirely account for what happened to her.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore plans to begin investigating the case in a few weeks, marking only the fifth such investigation in its history. Seelos has already been credited with one miracle.

"This would be the second miracle required of the church before someone could be formally canonized as a saint," said Father Gilbert Seitz, the judicial vicar of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Mary Ellen Heibel claims her terminal cancer was cured by praying to Father Francis X. Seelos.

The investigation will decide if Heibel was healed through the intercession of Seelos, who was a pastor at Baltimore's St. Alphonsus Church from 1854 to 1857 and worked at various parishes throughout Maryland.

"There will be a panel of medical experts, a chair of surgery from Mercy Medical Center and another lawyer besides myself. We'll talk to 11 or 12 people and the people involved in her care," Seitz said.

Heibel said no matter what the outcome of the investigation is, she knows what happened in her heart.

"Try it if you're a non-believer. It won't hurt. You have to try it. The only one who can heal you is the Lord," she said.

The information gathered by the panel of experts will be sent to Rome for review by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. That panel will then make a recommendation to Pope Benedict after their investigation.

It's up to the Pope to decide if what happened was a miraculous healing.

RE: I got it!!! I got it!!!

Hi Snuggs

I'm a woman on a mission and car searching too. My 1996 Buick Century has 143,000 miles and is slowly dying. Bad head gasket, plenty of leaks, ticking and grinds with the front struts gone bad. Time for a funeral too pretty soon. Hope it will hold till I find something much newer. I drive it so frugally cuz I worry about it having a near death experience.rolling on the floor laughing

Looking at the Impalas with column shifters and cloth interiors, but I can't stand the black dashboards that I see and am seeing them in lots of newer cars. Yuckie!! Drives me crazy. Prefer the clay, tan or grey dashboards. Black is a very heat drawing color and not easy and appealing on the eyes to me. My eyes seem to be drawn to the dashboard more than the road with the color. So may have to go back a few years yet. Am even considering an older Lesabre.

Congratulations on your new car. May you get many years of good luck and use with it. I hope I am as lucky as you to find the right car for the right price.sigh

RE: Holocaust Museum Shooting - White Supremist or Talmudic Supremists?

Ray,
Let's play "expose your dark secrets" and have you go into a synagogue, look the congregants straight in the eye with brotherly love and genuine warmth and compassion and sit through a prayer service. Nah, know you couldn't bring yourself to even do something like that.
That's the terms.... or drop the confusion on your part. You carry around more darker secrets than any Talmud you purport to expose.
So you obviously have some purpose in mind for attacking reform Jews as you state "and for good reason." A Jew hater is a Jew hater and that doesn't change no matter how you try to sugarcoat it or change your wording either or play with your words. You don't fool me one bit.laugh

RE: Holocaust Museum Shooting - White Supremist or Talmudic Supremists?

Norsely, the Talmud IS the 5 books of Moses AKA "The Torah" AKA, "The Old Testament." It is the origins of the Jewish faith. The "Cradle of Civilization" was in the middleast which is part of Africa. It would make the most sense to state that most likely the foundations of other faiths may have started there too. Perhaps in Babylonia, Egypt and vicinity. Other faiths may share some similarity to Old Testament stories too, maybe not exact wording though.

I don't know about the "2 house theory" but it seems that tribes in their multitudes would have settled in different parts of the middleast anyway. In the O.T., there was an accounting of the males of the different tribes that were of age for warriors. The count was very large. Now add to that the women, children, the sick and the elderly and there would be no way 12 tribes could stay together. They would need their own space to spread out. So of course the tribes would have settled in various sections.
BTW, the tribe that was lost had settled in Ethiopia, hence the Falashas. Operation Solomon airlifted many to Israel around 1980. They are the decendants of Solomon and Bathsheba. They are of black African decent and a very gentle people who literally lived in thatched huts. They were being slaughtered in the Ethiopean conflict and they were hunted down and shot as they were fleeing. I met one lady last year who walked 300 miles as a 9 yr old to get to the Addis Abba airport, was in a very sick critical condition on arrival and was in the first plane airlifting the children out. Coincidentally, one of her rescuers, an elderly Jewish man, was in the room as she was telling her story. You could have heard a pin drop and there wasn't a dry eye in the room when he stood up and said who he was. They couldn't stop hugging.

Now unless you are part of that lost tribe Norse, the other tribes have not ever been lost. They have been spread all over the world(what is termed the "Diaspora") due to wars and persecution pushing them out of the middleast through the centuries.

RE: Holocaust Museum Shooting - White Supremist or Talmudic Supremists?

Yes Norsely, I do read the Talmud. However, I read it and relate to it in today's world. Have you read the Talmud or Old Testament as it is called? It would be difficult to relate to the Talmud if I was to try to understand it and practice it as it was 1000s of years ago. One also has to read it also as a historical part of human history and early formations of religious beliefs. And religious practices have been in a state of continual change throughout the centuries to reflect the current state of a people at different times in history.Perhaps you might consider looking into a Talmudic course that focuses on Talmudic teachings that have to deal with today's spiritual and political challenges.

Truthfully, I found you to be very insulting to Jews based on what you have written in this forum. The term you used "Goyim" is not a cattle term whatsoever in today's world. I find it very odd that a non Jewish person uses this word so freely and in such a prejudicial hateful manner. I am not pre programmed with emotions when the term Jew comes up but I am not blind to your outright hate mongering with you twisting biblical scripture either. By any chance, have you ever been taunted by someone Jewish at some time in your life so as to aspire so strongly to hatemongering like you do?

If you have been taunted, then it would be appropriate to hold only that person responsible and not an entire people of the same faith guilty forever.

I've never heard of an imposter Jew.

RE: Do u believe in supranatural things? Why?

I do believe in the supernatural. Had too many personal experiences that made me a believer.

RE: Holocaust Museum Shooting - White Supremist or Talmudic Supremists?

Not impossible Conrad. He always enjoys being the center of attention with inciting hatred as seen on other forums. I doubt he would have the guts to walk into a Jewish facility and do what Von Braunn did. Von Braunn was very strong in his beliefs. Not so sure this poster is though, but he's definitely "off a few beats." He definitely is an attention seeker and seeking support and approval for his writings.conversing

RE: Would you have this guy over for dinner?

I wouldn't have this guy over for dinner. I'd have him meet you out in a restaurant and go dutch. Then make sure you have the waiter or waitress "accidentally" dump something real messy right down the front of his clothes or if somehow you accidentally bump him and something messy spills on him. And then you just laugh it off and tell him, "Don't worry honey or be upset, you can go to the 24hr laundrymat and get your clothes cleaned up."(as you hand him a tiny flimsy package of a cheap plastic rain poncho from the $1 store with the price still on it, to wear while he's washing his clothes.")

Oh well, "Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn!" devil Go girl... and you take control this time. I wish you the best!!

RE: Being a kind, too caring, soft hearted man how do you really get over being hurt by women?

Romeo,

I just saw that you wrote you were never married. Were you common-law legally married?

If not, then you are still correct in saying the children will reside with the mother unless you or the court can prove the mother unfit or else she agrees to give them up. That is the Ohio law.

Best of luck to you no matter what.cheering

RE: DO u ever believe in GHOST ?

I am not kidding you one bit about these experiences whatsoever. I was certainly not in any sleep in a movie hall hon. These were very real experiences and have been validated by other staff at this facility with some similar experiences.

My profession as a registered nurse has taught me to try to view things scientifically. Had I not personally experienced these occurances myself, I would not believe in the existence of ghosts whatsoever and I would tell you in a heartbeat that there was no such thing as ghosts.

But the experiences as I listed above at this nursing home by myself and other staff have definitely taken me by surprise when they occurred. I literally stopped in my tracks when a wheelchair in a long line of wheelchairs starts wheeling itself across the hall right in front of me as I was walking down the hall. I crouched down with my mouth and eyes wide open in awe watching it move and realign itself right in front of me to the other side of the hall by another room. That was my first encounter at the facility.

Hope you have an opportunity to experiences the paranormal with a non-threatening spirit. It is not a frightening experience but you may just be startled for a moment. shock

RE: DO u ever believe in GHOST ?

Emphatically, yes I do believe they exist!

In one nursing home I worked in, I watched in shock as a wheelchair took off across the hall right in front of me as I was walking down the hall, while all the rest lined up stayed in place. Also saw one of the double glass doors in the front of the building literally opened wide as if someone was going out and there was no one there. Then there was the matress that moved up and down as if someone was sitting or lying on the bed. Call lights and TV's go on and off, footsteps across the roof over one room, pictures flying off the walls and an elderly lady telling us that a deceased bearded man was sitting on her bed telling her to get out as it was his bed and room.(The man passed away a month before).

And the ultimate one was when I was showing a new male nurse the IV room and supplies, a box came flying off the shelf and conked this poor male nurse on the head. Needless to say, he never came back to the facility.

I had no fear of this ghost as he really was friendly and mischeivious to the staff. He was a joker in real life.
Many of the residents have seen him. Staff have tried to get him to talk or get a picture of him but he shuts off the tape recorders and jams the cameras.

I was witness to many of these supernatural occurances.
So do these spirits exist? Based on my experiences, I have to say that they most certainly do. Why they are trapped and unable to fully make it over, that I haven't figured out.
Perhaps they are trapped in another dimension that crosses through our dimension of the living as we live in. And so they move about in places that they were the most familiar with in their lives in buildings, homes or places. This is JMO here on why they are trapped.

Perhaps someone else has some input and can shed some light on why these spirits are trapped.

RE: Need more prayers....It's worse this time.

My prayers go out to you and your entire family. That ex is a very dangerous demented individual. All your lives are in danger with this type of a person on the loose. Hopefully, the police have rounded him up and he is sitting in jail right now.

RE: I need your input

Sweetowen,

It doesn't matter if it is a govt run nursing home. Theft is theft. These relatives would do the same to you. Make the contact to the Social Service Director, the nursing home administrator and the Director of Nursing. They can even meet with you on the weekend so don't let anyone say that this can't be done. You can meet with them directly in your relatives room and he can have his say on what's happening when the other relatives come to visit.
That may be the best way to get the ball rolling and get this investigated.
There should still be some type of nursing home survey posted for the public to view that has telephone number contacts on it. Even a government run nursing home would still have some type of a survey. Every nursing home dreads the yearly surveys as they are grueling and no stone is left unturned. They pick and pick and pick and follow the nurses, aides and kitchen staff and check everything from furniture to environmental things to scrutinizing medical records past and present to monitoring call lights to resident appearances to food and refrigeration temps. They even talk to the residents at random with specific questions. They look at everything to my knowledge.

RE: I need your input

Oh, I didn't realize that he was in a nursing home and this is occuring. I thought that he was in his own home and this was occurring and there was a visiting nurse to tell you about this.

You do need to talk to the Social Service Director at the nursing home and let them know what is occuring. If they do not take action, then you can either call call the omsbudman who will speak to the resident in question and then you can call the state. For us, this would be the Ohio Dept of Health which does all the nursing home surveys. This theft of a resident's funds is a very serious issue. The state does not take kindly to a nursing home dusting such a serious offense under the table if it is indeed occurring and the resident is telling that it is occuring. The number to reach your state for complaints into a nursing home will be located on the state surveys that must be posted in an area for visitors to review. It will also give you all the list of violations and corrections for that year.
I am a long term care nursing home nurse who has worked in this field for 20 yrs. Don't confront the persons who are taking the money whatever you do.

I have seen the state come in unannounced on a complaint several times over the years. The state takes complaints from patients or consumers very seriously and does follow up.

Hope this information helps you Sweetowen.

Lillylady

RE: I need your input

You have to call Adult Protective Services in your community. It is a criminal offense to steal from the elderly or an invalid. Look in the local government section of your phone book or online for this office. Misusing, mismanagement or theft of funds of another person who is an invalid or even not aware that money is being siphoned off is illegal.
Don't wait, make the call.

RE: do you believe in the holy trinity? (God,jesus, holyspirit)

I do not believe in the Holy Trinity as such but I most certainly do believe that there is a God that is in control of everything. I believe that different faiths have different ways of feeling and coming to understand God.
What ever way a perceives and reaches God spiritualy is OK, especially if it brings peace and contentment into a person's life.
I fear God's rath and I sure wouldn't say anything to make him/her mad, that's for sure.

RE: Prove to me....

Hmm, that makes sense what you are saying. Never thought of it in that way. Appreciate you telling me from that angle. However, some of us explain it by our spirituality with our creator God and others have no explanation scientifically because scientifically no one knows yet. However, you are correct in what you say. I never heard of the watchmaker theory.

That theory can be related to so many things in life. I'll keep it in mind when I try to explain to a kid why he has teeth. They have teeth so to keep the tooth fairy in business. Even though they can't see the tooth fairy, she does exist because the quarter or dollar bill is found under their pillow when they put the tooth there before they go to sleep. LOL! Now I hope nobody here will dare ruin a kid's childhood happiness for a moment.

RE: Prove to me....

I'm not doubting God's existence Rodolpho as I like your definitions. You're right, I didn't expect this one.

Perhaps this question was more for Krimsa and I should not have said anything. She's better qualified to answer.cool
