That last one, by a woody?

RE: would you 'sacrifice' your pet for your lover?

No I would not give up my animals. I just wouldn't get involved with someone that doesn't have the respect for my animals that I have. It is something that we must have in mutual commonality in order for a relationship to progress.

I agree with Jac on this one...ta tra and out the door he goes....FOR GOOD!

RE: Who is Your Beloved ?

Hi Ladyfingers,

That is a quote I've heard that is usually inscribed in Hebrew on a couples wedding bands. Perhaps it is on other nationalities wedding bands too? Interesting quote though with regards to relationships.

RE: The movie that scared you the most is.......

For me also it was Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds". Saw it as a kid when I was in Junior High School with a group of girlfriends. We sat in the front row seating of the theatre. When those birds attacked and bloodied Tippi Hedren......Oh My Gosh, I shreiked and covered my eyes. All the theatre goers let out a shriek.

The other one was the original black and white version of "The War of the Worlds". I was very young when I saw it on television. I thought it was the end of the world and it was coming to our town next. I thought we were going to be disintegrated by radiation beams and I would never see my family or friends again. Quite scary for a kid at the time. Of courseI didn't know of Hollywood at the time.

RE: Finally, i have decided to get married......

There is really nothing to making an apple pie. It takes me 2 hrs each time as I bake the bottom crust by itself and then fill it with the fresh apples and spices and put on the top layer. Foolproof each time. The rest of the filling you want to put in with the fresh apples is up to the individual as is the spices. I always say to smell the spices. What you like the fragrance of that goes with sweet apples, then that is what you put in the pie. I have also used raisins, walnuts, sliced almonds and plain cinnamon that is not laced with sugar. I add no extra sugar whatsoever to the apples.

I cook some dishes that use fresh grated garlic and then I top it off with cranberries. Sometimes mix food strong with the garlic but light with the cranberries or raisins so as not to lose the main garlic taste. I make meatballs with muesli grain mixture with flax seeds, never bread crumbs and saute slowly in olive oil. Spaghetti sauce is made with basil, oregano, lots of fresh grown rosemary and a hint of thyme. Crush up bay leaves rather than leave them whole. May simmer this in a crock pot and put the meatballs in the last hour before you sit down to eat. Melt mozzarella cheese over the meatballs and sauce in microwave or oven just before serving. Use spaghetti or any type of noodle.
Garnish the servings with sliced oranges and avocado wedges to bring up the eye appeal of all the colors on the plate. Always grate up fresh garlic, never use the bottled stuff. There is no comparison when it comes to the robust flavor. For anyone living in Ohio or even the appalachian states, one can substitute the wild garlic/onion called RAMPS. Very popular with southerners in their cooking and extremely healthy. Great chopped up in hamburgers...rampburgers. Usually found up this way out in the woods in the spring.

Hope I've given you some ideas. You will delight in your own cooking for sure if you just open your mind to the millions of possiblilities out there. Google the internet. No doubt you will find something. Once the cooking bug gets you...you're hooked for sure.

RE: Finally, i have decided to get married......

Not from me. I was just giving Mnowsa some guidance on how to cook. He might just be very attractive to a young lady in his neck of the woods who just might seriously want to have a relationship with him and learn how to cook from him.

To search for someone to marry and use culinary skills as the main reason for wanting a wife will get him in big trouble for sure. Better he learn to cook so he can search for lots more important things he wants in his wife. Then he can teach her the art of cooking if she is agreeable to learning and the 2 of them together will surely put out some fabulous meals together.

That's more in line with what I think he should be aiming towards. Mnowsa thinks like my 21 yr old son who says he will assist with cooking in the kitchen if a girl would teach him but he isn't able to find a decent girl who can cook. He complained that my cooking was too healthy but he doesn't want to learn cooking from old mom here. So he buys stuff like frozen tater tots and microwave dinners and winds up eating out a bit. Yuckie!!

I like going out to dinner as an occassional treat as I mostly don't find most restaurants up to the quality of what I purchase and how I put a meal together. I don't use any artificial flavorings whatsoever nor meat tenderizers. The less artificial ingredients in our diets, the better overall our health might last longer throughout life.

My aunt used to say to me, "Eat everything you want but in proportion...eat to live, not live to eat." She passed away at 99yrs old physically and mentally intact. Her heart pacemaker wore out and she did not want to be cut into to replace it at her age.

RE: Finally, i have decided to get married......

No, I'm claimed already and am not looking to get married again. It is true that I do know quite a bit about cooking and baking...self taught at that. It is better that you first learn to cook for yourself, then you have a better idea of searching for a wife that can cook up to your standards or be able to teach a wife that really wants to learn. Not many can cook up to the standards of our moms if they were good cooks so you have to set your own standard of comfort. Tasty cooking is a labor of love and it helps when your partner will jump in and help with food prep and cleanup, otherwise the work involved in putting together a good meal feels like pure drudgery to the person doing all the work. When it becomes drudgery, you can tell because the food starts tasting rather blah and looks sloppy.

Thre is nothing that I cannot cook or bake providing I have all the ingredients or can substitute something in it's place. I use very little red meat, occasional chicken and lots of grains and veggies. Sometimes I take a recipe and change it around a bit but it most always tastes good no matter what...providing I use the 3 steps I mentioned on my last posting.
Right now I'm eating a homemade apple pie with gala apples, sunflower seeds, raisins, sliced almonds and cinnamon and a little bit of cloves. Paint the crust with egg whites and the crust comes out golden brown everytimes. Apples hold their shape since Galas are good pie apples and have a natural sweet taste when they are ripe so don't need to add extra sugar, butter, flour and junk to make the apples gooey or pasty. I will be working next on creamy granny smith apple/butternut squash/carrot soup. Temps here in Ohio are going down to freezing at night and soon to be in the 20 degree farenheit range. Some snow on the way so need to eat to keep warm.

RE: Finally, i have decided to get married......

Hi Mnowsa,

Not always can wives cook. It is not uncommon over here whatsoever that the husbands do all the cooking. Believe it or not, many women just do not have the inclination, disire or time to cook or the creativity it takes to put a decent meal together. A meal should elicit a good memory, not be a drudgery for anyone. A good meal should be a pleasurable ingredient in the pleasurable memories in the "soup of life" so to speak with someone you love.

However in each relationship, there is a decision on who does what. If each does their share to the best of their ability and give 100% effort, it works out for the best in the longrun.

What I've learned is the secret to good cooking is 3 main things:

#1. Put foods together by color, like things that go naturally together in nature. Like with a green vegetable, you add a food something to complement it that may be red, orange or even yellow like how you find green leaves with red, orange or even yellow fruit, flower or vegetables in nature that grow on the leaves.

#2. Smell the fruit, meat, fish and vegetables before you purchase them if they are fresh. Smell different spices. What you smell and what you choose what to mix into what you are cooking will be how the food will taste.

#3. Put things on a plate and table in an appealing way. Don't just slop food on a plate and chow down eating. How you display a tasty meal will make all the difference in the world when it comes to making your mouth water for the flavor and the memory of the glorious moment you bite into that appealing and tasty dish.

Believe me, if you watch a professional chef in action, you will see these 3 steps in action everytime. Lastly, trust your judgement if you think some food in the market, even frozen stuff, is not fresh. You will be right everytime and will save yourself from getting food poisoning and ruining your day or evening.

RE: Just friends

Scout,

These type of women are not interested in friendship. They're users. They use you to get what they need at a particular time and usually play the "I don't know what to do" sob story and you fall for it. They play on your emotions.
You put all your time, effort and even money out there to do something for them to get them out of the mess they're in and they tell you that they are your friend.
But when you really need the help or a favor in return, they've always got some kind of excuse.
Actually, there are men and women both out there that are very skilled at playing good hearted people. They make promises that they have no intention of keeping to you too.
I think you've been had by one of them.
Don't befriend those type of people. You will be let down everytime.comfort

RE: Should I grow my hair..?

Hey Jac, you made me laugh and recall a funny beer song my grandmother used to sing to me when I was a kid. It has nothing to do with hair but probably is the same tune. It goes like this:

There once was a girl named Ann Heiser
Who thought no fella could surprise her
But Pabst took a chance...and found Schlitz in her pants,
So now she is sadder Bud Wiser.cheers

RE: How Many Tears Have You Shed

I was only married for 3 yrs but cried with my divorce. Cried out of anger for being taken advantage of as a fool. I went into marriage blind as I was naive enough to think that it was true love. Well maybe love from my end giving it but not receiving it in return.

No way will I even venture into it for a second time. It is better to be a lover in love and be faithful to each other. But you don't need the wedding to have the best years of your life ahead of you with a special person. Unless of course you both feel the same way.

Guess I'm afraid that once they marry you, they will change. I want the honeymoon to last forever so I don't want to get married and have anything ruined again. If they stray, I will not cry.

In my case...once stung....twice afraid. I won't travel down that road again.sad flower

I would like to go see the Grand Canyon again and hike a bit thru Yellowstone National Park and see Banff National Park and the Alaskan glaciers.

I would also like to see the Aurora Borealis in all it's majesty on a clear starry night someday.

RE: Just A suggestion re Forum Flooders

I agree with you there John. Unfortunately, I don't think that CS monitors people's ISP addresses or else they would undoubtably see a common bond somewhere. Although the real slick cons are able to tap into a variety of ISP addresses sadly. Members here with numerous phony profiles would probably play into different ISP addresses. They ruin this site sadly as it is a great place to communicate and even meet some really nice people via chat or in person.

RE: I Miss The Little The little things in life...from child hood

Playing jacks, hopscotch, hoola hoop, marbles and making mud pies. Putting my cat in my doll carriage and pushing him along while watching his terrified lookrolling on the floor laughing Playing schoolteacher, doctor, nurse. Chaining my younger brother to a tree so he wouldn't get hit by a car cuz he used to run out in the street.

Lying in the snow making snow angels, sledding down high snow plow mounds on a garbage can lid or sitting in a box or sitting in a washing machine box with a cut out square to look thru as I raced down the hill.

Also playing dodge ball and kick ball, going to Girl Scout camp and pushing each others bunks with us girls on it out of the tent in the dark to scare each other.

Going to Pappy's Dinere, the local "greasy spoon" restaurant under the railroad bridge in town. Going out for hot fudge ice cream sundaes at the local ice cream parlor dining room with the glass chandaliers hanging.

Practicing air raid drills when the local air raid siren would go off. All the kids in school would go down to the school basement and crouch down and put our hands over our heads to protect ourself. This was during the Cuban Missle Crisis. Also practicing going down to our basement and hiding under the steps by my mother's canned food supply in our supposed fallout shelter. Don't really know if I really miss this but it certainly is a walk thru history of a bygone era.

Last thing I miss is playing board games outside during the summer at night by using a plug in light that was run by an extention cord into the house. Gamnes like Monopoly, Easy Money, Careers, Chineese Checkers, Go-Fish(card game), Gin-Rummy.

Nightime basketball with the hoop attatched to the garage. We played by turning on the back light.

A few last things....skateboarding down the hill and chasing after the ice cream truck to stop it and then go ask my mom for money. Many times had to tell the ice cream guy that mom wouldn't give me the 10 cents for an ice cream bar. He came back the next night anyway.

So many happy memories and many more I could list. Walking in the mud puddles, catching snowflakes in my mouth, catching lightning bugs and butterflies, baking cupcakes and brownies with my mom. Riding in my dad's old greasy plumbing and furnace parts truck with him on his repair service calls....carrying some of his tools.

This is a great thread. A walk down memory lane of our youth. Twas so much fun back then. Life is still fun depending on how you approach things in life.cheering

RE: You to Sweetie... ?

Blain,

Ya know it's usually the scammers who start out with "Hello Sweetie". I just want to puke when I read that. They don't even know my name nor do they even really know your profile name.

So I changed my profile to cater to the scammers specifically. After they really do read my profile, they are gone pretty darn quickly.rolling on the floor laughing

16 scam letters in a 3 day span made me change my profile real quickly and delete my picture.

Have fun and save the scammer email addresses. Send them another scammers yahoo address and tell them it is yours. They will ultimately thank you so graciously and you will no longer be bothered by that particular scammer again.rolling on the floor laughing
