And this humility allows us to heed others observations Mark...it allows us to accept ours and others faults as par for the course.
Basically, we accept guidance and direction from all quarters when the value of it is made obvious to us.
Yes we are responsible for our own mistakes, but we may not be aware of such errors if it weren't for others pointing them out in a well motivated way!
Do we know ourselves well enough to know what we want, or perhaps more pertinently, need, from a partner and in a relationship?
We all have a kind of mental check list...a blueprint detailing the sort of emotional, physical and personality qualities we're looking for.
But, when it comes down to it, how sure can we be that we really know what makes us tick...what we respond best too...what brings the best out of us?
I've surprised myself by finding certain ladies attractive that aren't a match to my personal blueprint of a potential partner. I just couldn't help myself though!
I think another point springs to mind at this point with all this talk of corporations and business agreements.
If we find ourselves becomming afraid and fearful of the commitment that marriage demands, then perhaps we're not ready, or need to take another look at ourselves?
Yes it's sobering...it's momentous. And yes we should be awed at the seriousness of the commitment.
But fearful? Afraid? Worried?
Perhaps in modest doses it's natural...but hell, if I'm ever lucky enough to get married, I'm going to be so delighted at the prospect of sharing my life with the woman of my dreams, those negative emotions aren't going to be anywhere near my heart and mind!
Those 'ties' you speak of are explained by the secretion of various chemicals from the brain I believe Al...which once again COULD explain the manner in which the heart responds at times.
Chakra? My Uncle never stopped going on about that a few years ago...kept putting his hand on my tummy ant proclaiming...'Phil...this is where your power is boy!'
Although I believe the feelings we feel are just another 'level' of thought, as everything on that level originates in the brain anyway, it does give food for thought.
I read something a while back that suggests that scientists believe there are BRAIN cells in the heart...hence the distinguishing we do between thoughts and feelings, even though the heart is seen as a purely biologically mechanical organ.
RE: was jesus 'just a magician' ?
Why don't you start a thread on the topic then dude?
