RE: Should laws that restrict access to guns be abandoned?

I was wondering if abyoudh was interested in purchasing some volcano insurance? To qualify all you have to do is dig a moat around your property deep enough for a kiddy to drown in.

RE: Why do so few women create forum threads

Small talk gets crowded out by politics and deep and meaningless subjects, the consequence is we’ll never know who spilt nail polish on whose cat.

The gentlemanly thing to do would be restrict our rantings to a handful of heavy threads. In the old days men would retire to the smoking room and put the world to rights in relative privacy, but today we bring our troubles to already troubled minds there’s no let up for our adorable inferiors.

RE: Should laws that restrict access to guns be abandoned?

You’ve never needed to shoot anybody and you’ve never seen anybody get shot and yet you’re convinced you need a gun for self-defence.

Now why does anybody feel that insecure in the most secure of circumstances? To be that defensive locked in your own basement in some town where nothing ever happens makes the gun more like a comfort blanket than a real defence, there was never any danger.

RE: Actual planet lovers ?

It’s slightly off topic but how would you persuade an elderly neighbour to put down their elderly dog? It’s really suffering.

RE: Actual planet lovers ?

What can you do?

We did the 1980s and now China and India etc are rich and powerful but they can remember what it’s like to starve. That’s the problem. Anybody who has known hunger tends to have an appetite that doesn’t flinch, farmers were ecstatic to shoot their horses and replace them with tractors 70 years ago. Because it meant food on the table.

Image isn’t everything I mean Charles is a lot happier with Camilla, isn’t he? His very own mutton dressed as mutton.

RE: Trump aide Ricardel forced out after showdown with first lady

The reverse is also true. America has a First Lady that worked in the country illegally when she first arrived and even if she had been totally legit it makes you look dishonest and weak - give me America First unless it's more convenient and profitable to have a foreigner.

RE: Trump aide Ricardel forced out after showdown with first lady

You warrant and welcome the hatred

RE: Should laws that restrict access to guns be abandoned?

I suppose the real question is should people be able to do any mad thing they want?

And on a good day this is a positive about Trump a man who does whatever he wants. I don't want to see 6 year olds walking around with assault rifles but I want to see you talking like it's a good idea, and people to know that for the real reason which is because you like shooting guns. All pretenses of doing the right thing washed aside you don't shoot guns for security or your consitution, you do it because it's fun. Trump shows how it's all for sport.

RE: Should laws that restrict access to guns be abandoned?

I mean the whole argument that "guns should be legal because I haven't shot anybody" is a selfish moral blank that is as much the reason mass murders as the guns are. The fact that the interest of everyone else is expendable to whatever it is you want is building for an America of lonely and spoilt sociopathy.

RE: Should laws that restrict access to guns be abandoned?

If the American likes shooting people and shooting people makes him happy then nothing will stop him pursuing this aspiration. There's zero moral restraint on ambition and if you have no self-restraint then society will do it for you. Restrain yourself or be restrained.

RE: Should laws that restrict access to guns be abandoned?

In one way it wouldn't matter because we wouldn't arm ourselves to the teeth even if they were legal. Gun culture is not the same as guns being legal and clearly there's something murderous in the American psyche which shares responsiblity for all the mass murders.

Americans should have guns restricted because they're a more criminal and selfish people, more decent people don't create lands of mass murder even they're armed. In Switzerland they shoot themselves at an unprecedented rate. We should assume the American is a serial killer, they need more laws to help restrict mass murder because their way of life is more likely to do a murder. Their general attitude is closer to sociopathy and their concern for the welfare of others is less than rest of mankind, law-abidingness is the sole reason they wouldn't murder and when you don't have a conscience all you have is the rules.

RE: Hypocrisy is part of education ?.

I must study politics and war, that our sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy

John Adams

Anybody who understands the better life for their kids is essentially a hypocrite, anybody who perhaps doesn't want someone to go down the same route that they did. Something worse than the hypocrite is the vain underachiever - the failure who would see his kids fail in the same way in order to feel better about his own failure.

RE: Hypocrisy is part of education ?.

Hypocrisy is an important part of learning from mistakes, all of social progress contains an element of "do as I say, not as I do". Today are we not thankful for the fact that after 1945 we began to listen to all the soldiers from the world wars who said that war was a terrible thing to be avoided at all costs?

RE: Hypocrisy is part of education ?.

Hypocrisy has its place because many people are an example of what not to be in life and are aware of their flaws - "do as I say, not as I do".

RE: Why do people change

O! what a thing it is, in a time of danger, and in the presence of death, the shining of a face upon a face! I have heard it broached that orders should be given in great new ships by electric telegraph. I admire machinery as much as any man, and am as thankful to it as any man can be for what it does for us. But, it will never be a substitute for the face of a man, with his soul in it, encouraging another man to be brave and true. Never try it for that. It will break down like a straw.

Charles Dickens

RE: World kindness day...13/11/2018...

Kindness doesn't have a lot to say for itself and its own good works. Owing to its own innocence kindness sees the good in people and views the general public as being generally good. That's how you know what a kind person is before they act.

RE: Eating out alone.

There's effectively zero chance of going to a fancy restaurant by myself. Mcdonalds and the all you can eat buffet I'll be dining for the pure utility of converting protein intake into muscle energy, there's no need to book.

RE: HILLARY CLINTON 4.0----RISE OF THE WITCHES

A cult that goes around accusing everyone else of being part of the occult.

And this is why pizzagate is revealing. The cult came out with that conspiracy theory but the caged children are found in the possession of the cult and would still be there now if it was up to the cult.

RE: HILLARY CLINTON 4.0----RISE OF THE WITCHES

That's basically what fascism is. A witch trial mob in the modern day, the 12th century existing right alongside the 21st.

RE: Dear Western Europe

The great recession doesn't seem to have made blind bit of difference to the spending and lifestyle habits of the old. But the young is a different story - a renewed interest in STEM subjects, meat-free days, bothering to vote, budgeting, the end of Club 18-30. These are all ways in which the new generation is responding to real world conditions, to meet challenges you have to be young enough to adapt to them, the typical white 60 year old may represent decay and decline in all things, but nothing is permanent.

RE: Dear Western Europe

Eastern Europe is the youngest place in the West and the only part to experience suffering at scale. But what's important is the direction, the 1990s was their worst decade and their future is bright because of this. The West is the same old dead men with the promise of more failure yet to come, we're right in the middle of the bad times created by weak men who never had it so good.

RE: What Keeps You Going?

Just remember deep down how awesome everything is. I mean what are the chances of anything of this happening? No matter how what happens in your life at least something happens. After death there is nothing.

RE: Jim acosta - guilty or not guilty of putting his hands on a woman

The less the world makes sense the more Trump will, the less confident you are the more Trump looks like prudence, and the less you have to lose is the less you have to lose.

And to be honest you do have to ask some serious question about what ever it is that makes Trump look like he's worth a punt. Are they really that wrong to be underconfident or are we just smug and complacent?

RE: Jim acosta - guilty or not guilty of putting his hands on a woman

Trump brings clarity to the confused, comfort to the insecure, and significance to Mr Nobody Love.
