Exactly my point, begging is illegal in China, and most of the ones you see begging are doing so because they are forced by unscrupulous criminals. And being disabled from birth or from an accident is very different to being mutilated on purpose, to use as a way to get money.
Having travelled extensively , tunnelled vision in definitely not something I suffer from lol
Yes it is one of the bad sides of China, the organised begging, similar to that in India, where someone very poor is forced to bed, often with horrendous injuries on them, they then pass the money to their controller, who watches them like a hawk. The government is trying to crack down on it, but China is a huge country with a vast population, so not easy to stop. When I first came to China I was taking a KFC dinner home when a very old lady came up to me shaking her can at me, I didn't have any change, so I gave her the chicken, she took it and threw it on the ground and continued to shake the tin at me.
I will never forget on one trip to Mumbai, when walking back to my lodgings, a child dragged herself towards me, she had one leg and the foot faced the wrong way, I was crying real tears as I looked into her face and gave her all my change and a few notes, then my colleague with whom I was staying, told me the reality. Broke my heart that a parent could sell their daughter knowing the evil that the new owners would do to her, in order to play on peoples kindness.
Asia runs hot and cold, good and bad, but unless you have lived there for some time you really only see the parts the governments want you to see. Sadly begging happens in every country, yet most countries have places these destitutes can go for food and to sleep for free, the genuine people use them.
No, I don't think they are evil, I think they have misplaced opinions or they maybe know something I don't, just because someone has an opposing view to mine does not make them evil, Even Jesus who as you pointed out, was crucified on false gossip, refused to hate his aggressors, indeed did he not ask the Lord to forgive them?
But I guess you think that because it is impossible for you to be wrong about anything, it is your right to call all those who disagree to be evil.
I would think most Muslims also disagree with Trump, so you must be calling all Muslims also evil, oh wait you said .............. I believe you are very confused, especially as I don't recall you calling those that were calling for Obama to be impeached Evil, until you suddenly changed horses and decided he was the evil one
So because someone has a different point of view and a different opinion to you, that makes them EVIL
So much for the post after post you made saying people shouldn't call each other names
The fact is that if Trump is ever impeached and found guilty of whatever the charge is, then it is not those who pointed of the crime that are evil, they are the ones who have their eye open and making sure any leader is doing the right thing for the country and not for his own pocket or an enemy.
It is a real shame it is now impossible to have any form of reasonable debate with you, because you immediately accuse your opposition to being evil or ignorant, rather than try to show why you hold your particular opinion.
And for the record, I don't think Trump will be impeached, he hasn't made any catastrophic mistakes yet, being an idiot is not a criminal offence in the USA.
I have not heard Obama deny that wiretapping was used, but what would America have done if a presidential candidate (from any political wing) had been conspiring with outside sources to undermine the election system, and no investigation had uncovered that in advance? American voter would be in uproar and rightly so.
Trump is using this security check as a way to divert attention away from areas that could prove to be embarrassing to him, making a mountain out of a molehill. Nothing will come from all this, because nothing illegal was done.
Trump will end up with even more egg on his face, someone close to the President really needs to cut his access to twitter and just let Trump play with soft crayons rather than be allowed anywhere near an actual desk with a real phone.
I have no idea about this in the USA but when I was at uni, it was common to visit some Profs home, where we had some hilarious discussions and sometimes really aggressive ones too Towards graduation we would frequent more often, to get ideas or have our work reviewed. Now, as I work in China, I have carried on that tradition, and most weekends my apartment has many students visiting, and we have impromptu discussions, talks even watching a western film and then talk about it afterwards.
I think it sad that this no longer happens, I think I learnt more in those late fun evenings than 6 years of hard study lol
I hate that, it should be a customer's choice, not a rule.
In China, at some restaurants, they charge extra if you use their chopsticks and bowls, so a lot of chinese carry their own sets in little wooden boxes with paper bowls hehehe.
But these are mainly tourist places that locals don't use, and the tourists don't realise they paid for them lol
Living in a tourist city, I see it happen a lot, same with overcharging, if I go to a local bar I pay a lot less for a beer than another foreigner, because they know me lol
Tour guides get paid by the stores they take the visitors to, they don't get a basic salary unless they are national tour guides. If the tour guide said he would pay the tips, then he put it in his pocket lol.
Tipping is not allowed in some provinces, and begging is illegal, if you give money to a street beggar you can be arrested and severely reprimanded by the local police.
In over 8 years living in China I have never seen a tip given in a restaurant, taxi, hotel etc, unless by some foreigner who doesn't understand local customs, usually Americans as they do it without thinking.
One of the better sides of living in China is that tipping is almost unheard of, it does happen in major cities, due to wealthy tourists throwing their money around. But in the quieter places, they would be offended if you tipped.
I don't think many in the UK have heard about it, strangely, it is on the Chinese Calander, I asked my students today why and what do they do to celebrate it, deathly silence came over them, it seems they don't understand why their government added it to the Calander, rather like they added thanksgiving day
It would be unfair to start a full relationship as I won't remain in China, in fact I recently had interviews in Macao and Vietnam, most Chinese love their home area and would not want to move far away. Besides, when I retire I will move to my home in the Philippines permanently. and that would be way to hot for most Chinese.
Just teasing, I know the real important things in a relationship are not the outside. But attraction is also important too, and I am personally not attracted to huge obese and unhealthy women, but do find myself drawn towards those of somewhat small proportions and who put health at the top of their list.
Having a mororic, ignorant, liar as President, has certainly shown the world that his supporters have the brain power of an amoeba.
Apparently if you are a democrat, you have half a brain, are an idiot and most likely an illegal immigrant, if you are a Republican, you are unable to separate the truth from fiction and if Trump says the sky is green then that must be true.
Middle America needs to wake up and smell the coffee, all is NOT okay with America!
I thank whatever God there may be, that I am not an American citizen.
Interesting that so many of the scare tactics used prior to the election have now been proven to be totally false, and yet those who questioned those fake stories were told in no uncertain ways, they were blind, and just wanted H. Clinton to win.
I have always been of the opinion that if I meet and like someone, then their past is what has made them the person I like today, if they also come across as someone I feel attracted to then that's even better. I would never rule someone out because of X many previous relationships/Marriages as that is truly not relevant, what's important is now and what happens in the future.
