RE: Food.....what's GOOD, what's NOT.....?!!

no your ok shell i don't mind i'm not offended, sounds like you have caring mindful family, as kids we ate offal, went fishing and other pursuits i perfer to give a miss now.

RE: the difference between AUTHORITY and POWER

hehe really good
i dislike people chucking around so called authority and power, politicians do it all the time and it is usually enforced with a gun.

RE: Food.....what's GOOD, what's NOT.....?!!

The bakery cooking the food is the same as cooking yourself.

The karma of killing is greater than transforming-motivation. (be a long way over the top of your head shell) All being including the FISH have countless time been your mother.

No lettuce sitting around in hot tents goes off lot quicker, and bakery makes lot of filed rolls every day.

I answered your question, and i've heard the thoughts you just promoted from even the Popes Bishops, and answered them to. You think that HHDL can't run in debate your sadly mistaking,

RE: Food.....what's GOOD, what's NOT.....?!!

To the best of my knowledge it doesn't, its not a religion, rather a philosophy based on understanding using our logic and reason. I think the Tibetan Lamas walking through a Super Market cracked up when they worked out humans killed one animal and put it in a tin to feed another type...from what i heard that really cracked them up.
Myself i try to eat fresh food, though some folks are vegetarians, including one of my main teachers.
In my current circumstance it seems better to my mind that i eat fresh food rather than week old lettuce or something all the time. I don't see how you arrive at the thought eating a pie at Swift Creek bakery and a filled roll plus freshly made sandwich constitutes processed food. As a standby just in case it rains i have the odd tin of stew or whatever laying about.
In past i grew fruit and veg but that's not possible at the moment.
We take on Karma from both eating meat and also when buying veg from a producer that kills any creature that spoils the looks of his/her product, which is also of course killing.
Buddhism is not faith based, students attend teachings where why you might look here or there is explained, however how you run your race is up to the individual, another way round, its up to you how you create your tomorrows.

RE: "what image's do you see when you hear the word 'outback'?"

flies, ants, dodging Roo's, long straight roads, bloody gum trees, dust and heat always bloody hot

RE: Food.....what's GOOD, what's NOT.....?!!

I'm actually getting by on that diet pretty well, been doing it for a long time, quite a few years.
I admit that it took a few months to get used to eating my main meal before two, and then not until the next morning, but now if i do attend a Bar-B_Q or eat late, i don't sleep as comfortably. Its ok

RE: Libya - Latest Updates Part II

RE: Libya - Latest Updates

Can say I’m good at reading between the lines, particularly I thought that while listing to this chat the other night:
w.pbs.org/newshour/bb/world/jan-june11/libya_02-24.html

However the transcript appears to record less than I thought I listened to, still some members might care to read it anyway.

I wish everyone else a good nights sleep tonight

RE: what keeps us alive??

I think moving energy, arrived at by utilising analytical meditation using logic and reason in attempting to find self or "I", it is likely after months of careful consideration you may well conclude our true nature is moving energy. That my body is ever changing and every part of it is interdependent.

Interdependent Arising driven by cause and effect, without cause there is nothingness.
An often used western term Karma = moving energy, the nature of that energy is said to be interdependent on the activities of our body, speech and mind, and also the collective karmas we are effected by.
As you sow, so shall reap...also having regard to impermanence, e.g the impermanent ever changing nature of ourselves and everything around us, e.g from rock to the smallest grain of sand.

Without cause nothing, again utilising analytical meditation, since beginningless time, migrating from life to life driven by cause and effect, our experience thus materializes and as our experience is interdependent, (mind only school of thought) sees all sentient beings likewise, migrating from life to life, each life dependant on the extent of ones merit field.
When we run out of merit for our current human experience the lights will go out hehehe, so my answer would be our merit field

RE: Afghan situation

This morning there as been a lot informed information posted in that thread including in part:
the European Union is requesting countries to offer naval back-up in a bid to rescue up to 6,000 Europeans still trapped in Libya, a spokesman for the European Commission said today. Apparently many of which are in eastern Benghazi which is at this point unreachable by air.

The local government has accepted requests for Malta to be used as a transit point for nationals of the UK, Germany, Austria, Brazil, Thailand, Vietnam and, crucially, China, which is understood to have 35,000 workers in Libya.
