RE: Where do I start?

hi mate, happiness is within, look at your self in the mirror and smile at yourself, tell yourself all the good things about yourself. Be gentle and content with your new found freedom. Its not possible in my opinion to find lasting happiness outside of your self, certainly it cannot be found in others, temporarily maybe, but not lasting

RE: Reincarnation...

After much concideration contemplation and deliberation I have decided to...good one kizzy
our lights can go out at any time...

"Humans prepare for the future all their lives, yet meet the next life totally unprepared."

And there is a very good reason to 'be prepared for death', as His Holiness the Dalai Lama explains:

"From a Buddhist point of view, the actual experience of death is very important. Although how or where we will be reborn is generally dependent on karmic forces, our state of mind at the time of death can influence the quality of our next rebirth. So at the moment of death, in spite of the great variety of karmas we have accumulated, if we make a special effort to generate a virtuous state of mind, we may strengthen and activate a virtuous karma, and so bring about a happy rebirth."

RE: Victorian Floods - Is everyone safe?

Hot dry day here, think Shell the floods are west of Melbourne, Bendigo, Echuca areas, we haven't had any rain, its in the thirty's here today.

Australia changing to digital TV

As they are turning the analogue system off i tried to work out what that might mean. Local selling appeared to be offering set boxes, so i checked out a few on eBay...ended up purchasing a television for the usual $279.
Currently here in the mountains a private set up puts out 4 channels, two are Queensland 7 and 9, other ABC and SBS.
Because of the change people round here are installing free to air satellite dishes, so after reading through lot giggly-gogg i brought:

RE: Hey..

RE: Water water water

I’ve spent a fair bit of time up there, Sherwood in Brisbane; planted wheat out Goondiwindi, grew lettuce and sweet corn at Montville, studied out the back of Eudlo for quite a while, lived in Mooloolaba and lived more than five years in Hervey Bay. Milked cows for a very short time near Atherton, sailed most the coast from Tweed to the Daintree River.
Also spent quite a lot of time out the back of Kyogle.

RE: Water water water

Its more normal than the past few years of drought were.
Northern parts of Australia (tropics and to lesser extent, the sub tropics) get there rain during the southern summer season. The tropics dry season is during our winter.
Otherwise called the monsoon season it develops during November or further north (Singapore Vietnam) early in October) and can last until well into April.
My guess the past hot dry drought years evaporated a lot of moisture from the warm oceans and when that met cooler air it dumps it upon thee head by the bucket load.
Also of course cyclones can form as well and dump a whole lot more, those can reach down even below Sydney and have done so in the past...

RE: Water water water

Really good, glad to hear your safe

RE: Water water water

depending what side the river your on, Summerland Way goes up to some higher country, if there is a motel there might be a good place to sit the night out in. (I'll cover it)
On the other side the Gywdir highway leads to high ground

RE: Water water water

Well please give it some consideration even if at the moment it seems unlikely that you'll have to. Better to have a plan in hand, your likely to get another 100 mml tonight, so insure your prepared...think through what point you'd no longer be able to escape and move before that occurs won't you

RE: Water water water

Ipswich mayor just upgraded expected flood hight to 21 meters, which is higher than the 1974 flood

RE: Water water water

Have you worked out somewhere to go Misty?

Water Release Update (Tuesday 11 January, 1.00pm)

Wivenhoe Dam
Releases through five gates have been increased to 344,000 megalitres as at 1.00pm and may need to be increased to around 516,000 megalitres a day by Wednesday 12 January due to rainfall in the Stanley and Upper Brisbane.

Local Councils have been advised that as a result of Lockyer Creek flows, local runoff and Wivenhoe releases, Twin Bridges, Savages Crossing, Burtons Bridge, Kholo Bridge Colleges Crossing, Fernvale Bridge, and Mt Crosby Weir Bridge may be inundated until at least Sunday 16 January.

There is currently NO ACCESS to Wivenhoe Dam, including the Spillway Common (Spillway viewing area). The entire site is closed.

Somerset Dam
Releases have stopped, however levels in Somerset are expected to continue rising and areas around Kilcoy are likely to be impacted.

Leslie Harrison Dam
Gate releases are underway due to rainfall and inflows.

North Pine Dam
Five gates are open, and will continue until at least Wednesday 12 January.

The local Council is being kept informed regarding Youngs Crossing.

Hinze Dam
A minor release of around 4,300 megalitres a day is being made through the emergency gates. There is no public access to the spillway.

RE: Water water water

Hi Shell, I was this afternoon listening to the TV cover of the Qld floods...
It takes an awful lot of calculations to figure out how much water in actually going into the Wivenhoe Dam, and they need to let out a corresponding amount of water or dam wall break...

Look after your self, keep eye on what's going ah!!

RE: Water water water

Just got update from friends near Kyogle part:-
Sunday morning emptied 22mm (.86 inches) from rain gauge
monday morning 85mm (3.3 inches)
today morning 78mm (3.1 inches)
so we still haven't reached the 10 inch prediction, but the rain is still coming down.
gave up on shoes.
mosquitoes are thick. at present have the doors shut, screened windows open. quite warm for lighting fire, but no hot water, so might break down and light it tomorrow.

Phoned my mate Hervey Bay other night, he lives in a swamp anyway, he is well and truly flooded in, but used to that

best wishes to all up that way..

Blondie think four houses burnt in the WA fire, small green car was seen in the area they think that fire bug did it

RE: Well perhaps I'm taking the next step

thread carefully jimbob, you'll need her signature on accepting any purchase offer for the house, and probably for final repayment and release of the mortgage.

If your selling the house through an restate agent (think you should) you be well advised, to get the agent to obtain an agreement for the listing jointly, being a written agreement stipulating price etc from both you and her.

Get everything in writing

RE: afghanistan taliban

The Taliban practice a form of Islam, which is studied in Pakistan then took that crap into Afghanistan. Its origins comes from deeply deluded extreme understandings held by people that engage in killing, and harming others. Scum bags like the scum bag that recently shot the dud in the back in Pakistan.

RE: were is Monica Lewinsky?

Oh soon after all that went bye, Bill visited Australia, about two weeks later so did Monica...

RE: Traveling To Bali Indonesia. Has any one been there?

Rent a motor bike for a few days and ride up into the hills, check out the rice paddies, including how they run the water around them, check out the Balinese Hindu culture, and try the black-rice pudding

RE: come out come out where ever you are!!

yeah i guess it is

RE: come out come out where ever you are!!

you'd probably do a lot better visiting the Mooloolaba Aquarium at least you can tickle fish and study the suffering of been born with type rebirth without creating the cause
doh

RE: come out come out where ever you are!!

have you got a gold fish tank?

RE: Palestinian Statehood at Last

Probably someone should have listened to Sir Laurance of Arabia, then the likes of my farther wouldn’t have had to be there in WW2 kicking out the Germans, and the British probably would never have filled the place up with immigrants from Europe in the first place in 1947, who set about making the Karmas to be persecuted all over again.

RE: come out come out where ever you are!!

Well your probably right; be interesting to hear from our friends up there in Queensland whether they are expecting State elections soon or not?
Now that a more normal tropical monsoon weather pattern has returned, I wonder if a safety net has already been erected outside the Queensland government treasures window...
Wonder how many shares the public is purchasing in the coal mining secta, the shares Bligh has been trying to flog…
The massive increase in population driven by greedy politicians now possibly faced with a wet season that could continue into April; an intelligent conversation along those lines probably pop up sooner or later.
Can you imagine if they had started damming the Mary River?

RE: Have u ever sworn? (like in the words below)

Most people commonly use swear words in there every day language which includes a mixture of Australian Slang, its only primp and proper do-gooders that speak common English.
Though most Australian remain loyal to the British Crown, its only because our head of state (Queen of England) does nothing, an Australian as Head of State, would likely grasp a thought and do something.

RE: Have u ever sworn? (like in the words below)

No bloody swearing down-under just words that don't conform with British rule, also there is Australian Slang
G'day, mate!
Learn these Australian slang words and phrases
and you'll feel at home on your first day Down Under
