For more than a hundred years people tooled to produce food on the more productive soil types wherever they existed and there was water and access. Families owned and developed manageable sized properties, enjoyed rural lifestyles that supported small close nit rural communities and produced healthy food. Today the small family farms have almost completely disappeared. One person left to manage ever-larger properties without labour and does so by pouring chemicals on the weeds; by not investing in none profitable activities like fencing. By clinging to the hope prises would eventually increase, when in reality costs increased and price fall. Government brought the American crap that bigger farms are more cost effective and in turn stuffed the family farms in the dairy industry in proclaiming they the government know what they are doing, announced they order the water proofing the dairy industry by centralizing it along the Murray River…Queensland and NSW dairy industry almost completely collapsed, milk is now been shipped by train to Queensland and New South Wales from Victoria, good productive soils broken up into lifestyle blocks that produce nothing. One Real Estate Agent in Tasmania has recently been reported as advertising forty Tasmanian dairy farms for sale in China… That’s just one rural industry that the politician having strong support from the city voters has recently dumped on the small farming communities of Australia. State and Federal Governments have for years been chipping the forests, the rivers and creek banks have been cleared, in direct consequence water tables have been depleted. The seeds of the crops now commercially grown have been modified; most wont grow without chemical sprays and specially formulated fertilizers in America…Towns have disappeared, the worms have gone, micro organisms poisoned off, top soils depleted, rivers stuffed.
Yes that could happen however politicians are supposedly elected to represent the will of there electric. Long as the interdependent's do the right thing by Australia and likes of Katter managed to get a better distribution of wealth distributed across the nation in fair proportion, water, development of rural communities and not just freeways, tunnels and grand buildings, protect the food production, more sensible balanced international relationships. I think they will get the support of the voters and the self interest two party system better listen up
