Just my point. It did NOT happen on a bus ride in India. Check the facts. The victims boarded what they thought was a bus. In reality the bus had been stolen by the gang, who were riding around aimlessly.
Do not shift blame from Indian criminals to India.
I visit NYC frequently and I always take the subway to get around. The NYC subway has a frightening reputation among many who have never been, partly because the the film The Warriors and partly because of news reports about subway vigilante Bernhard Goetz. But both are wildly unfair and non-representative. The scariest things I've ever witnessed were:
1) A sad old man who couldn't make it to the men's room and peed in his pants 2) The inexplicable presence of about a dozen NYPD officers wielding automatic guns at Columbus Circle, who just stood around, looking bored
Not very scary. By contrast, the incident in India aboard the stolen bus was more like the film The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, which was not based in reality and scared nobody.
Yes. Not only myself & my gal, as you can see, but I know of a number of other couples who have met here on CS.
HOWEVER. Nearly all happened between folk who got involved in the community and ended up getting to know each other first. If you sit back and wait for emails from your Princess Charming, you will die lonely.
Then you haven't been paying attention. The incident you refer to occurred on a bus that had been STOLEN by the gang involved. It was not then "public transportation."
India is a vast and populous nation with a rich and ancient history, a vivid society, and a burgeoning economy. You deprive yourself if you only listen to horror-story crime news.
Your own gun-worshipping scenario left me no other options. If it had, I'd have bought a dog. But you, like many others, seem to think permanently having something my kids could accidentally kill themselves playing with is a better idea than a dog.
Say! If I were a gun-toting criminal, I know which house I'd target...the one WITHOUT the dog. Mom'll be asleep when I break in, no dog to wake her up....then after I shoot her in the head, I can steal the gun in her bedstand! After that, taking care of the sleepy kids will be a piece of cake! And ballistics will prove it was HER gun that did it!
Well, in that situation, what would I REALLY do? Probably shoot myself or my kids accidentally with the gun, before I discovered it was just a tree branch.
Face it. Guns in homes shoot and kill residents far far far more often than they do intruders. That's the reality. Guns are NOT safe.
What a coincidence! By chance, here we are a month later, and the Mighty Denver Broncos must once again face the either mightier-or-weakling Baltimore Ravens. This time though it's for all the marbles: Playoff time, win and move on, lose and go home. Also, this time it's in Denver.
Denver in fact won a month ago, in Baltimore. But the Ravens then had several key players injured. Baltimore is primed for revenge. But Denver trains in 5280 feet of altitude all year long. Who will win?

If you block another member from Email, Flowers, or Ecards, and they then attempt to contact you, they will receive this message: "This user has blocked email(or flowers, or ecards) from your area." It will not inform them that they have personally been blocked by you.
The only thing you are up against, OkieChic, is your own fears and worries.
I've been on this site near 3 years. As you can see, not because the site has failed me! But because the site offers reasons to remain. The CS ecard engine, for one, is worth the price of admission (zero).
CS is not like other singles-sites. CS strives to build a community, a support-group (if you will) for singles to interact and meet and share and have fun. Here we can match-make, or hook up, or not, or neither, or....who knows what chance may bring?
I hope you will take the time to get involved here, and I hope your search ends in happiness!
As others have pointed out, one month would be unreasonable. Maybe 6 or 8 months, or a year, would better serve your concern.
But there's the real problem: it's YOUR concern. I don't know what sort of creepy-crawly got into your knickers, but the fact is, CS is FREE. That means it's supported by advertising, including our friendly CS Ad Robot. The more members, the higher the advertising rates...and the better the community for us members who do visit regularly.
So, CS does not share your concern -- at least, not the same way -- and it is unlikely the Admins will heed your advice. And I don't blame them one bit.
PS. Over last summer and fall I was one of your "lazy people." That's because CS actually WORKS.
Hi Jane, and welcome back! Sorry to hear things didn't turn out as you hoped. If I may offer some advice? The "pretty quickly" part may have been a warning sign. Take your time and settle in and get to know folk and see how they interact. And meanwhile, have fun!
