I gotta admit, while I was never a fan during their heyday, they have grown on me over the years. (And I too have grown to appreciate their accomplishments, from an industry point-of-view.)

It's a little more complicated than that, Moose. Your answer, while quite sensible, reflects a belief system in which Jesus and God are one and the same. Debate about exactly that was what ultimately drove the split between the Orthodox church and the Catholic church (from which latter all western Protestant denominations are derived).

On the other (Arian) hand, if God and Jesus are NOT the same, then nothing says that while Jesus was certainly male, God might not be his mother?

(And before everyone starts blasting me: I am well aware that neither the Orthodox church nor Arius & his followers espoused such a belief. I am just pointing out that, hey, thinking outside the box can help you understand other's viewpoints.)

It's up to you to get involved and meet people (including women aged 18 to 26, although it's not gonna hurt you if you accidentally make a male friend, or meet a girl aged 27, is it?)

You seem like a nice enough fellow. Relax and get to know people here. Before you know it, you'll be talking to that special someone. It does happen. I met GACryptic here on this site, just that way.

Mayan prophecy: 2016 US Presidential Election

Give me a break, Conrad, I was just trying to be the very first thread to speculate about it. For the record: no Mayan prophecy said any of that (as far as I know); I made it all up. To clarify:

I predict neither Sarah Palin nor Hillary Clinton will run for president in 2016.

I predict those whom I named will. (Likely a few others also.)

I predict the major-party nominees will be Republican Chris Christie and Deomocrat Andrew Cuomo.

And I predict Cuomo will win the 2016 presidential election.

Ok?

Saw a news article recently about some TV actress...I forget who...who discovered she had been legally married for years after a drunken binge in Las Vegas.

Legal quirks do happen, especially in the US, where marriage law technicalities vary from state to state, but other states recognize the marriage. Similiar situation happened to me (although not involving a drunken binge in Las Vegas). I didn't find out for six years.
