Now it's the BDS...

It seems like a lifetime has passed when Hillary Clinton won the popular vote and Donald Trump won the presidency.
So the conservativvs (yes, I misspelled it like one of the members here who is unable to correctly spell Obama, Hillary, Democrat, or anything that's not Rebublickan) coined a phrase Trump Derangement Syndrome or TDS for short.

Fast forward to the present:
Trump is out and Biden is in. No I don't want lectures about 'Stop the Steal' and Trump being the rightful president. The America I know doesn't recognize that belief.

So just like Trump Derangement Syndrome then, it's the Biden Derangement Syndrome now.

Don't believe me?
Do a Pro-Biden blog.

With Trump mentioned or not in the blog, you are guaranteed to get some resistance.
Chances are they are afflicted with the BDS.

Blind girls do cry...

I rarely go a weekend without listening to Emerson, Lake and Palmer. In the past few years there have been many videos of Rachel Flowers who is probably the top performer of Keith Emerson's music.

Keith ended his life by suicide in 2016 had suffered with focal dystonia, a painful crippling disease that affected his right hand. He had several surgeries, suffered from depression and had a short list of health related issues.

Prior to Keith's death, he acknowledged Rachel (on several interviews) for her accomplishments as she and other musicians have produced several ELP music videos available on YouTube.

Rachel was chosen to perform at the 2017 Keith Emerson Tribute in Birmingham, England. Most of her work was virtual during COVID-19 with other musicians and my guess it was the biggest live gig she's performed at.

It's obvious she was overwhelmed with emotion and starts to cry about a minute into the song.

Rachel who lost her eyesight as an infant, was taught piano at an early age. She is also accomplished at flute and guitar.

When wish-list is a bad word...

I design kitchens and for some unknown reason (female) clients are requesting paper towel holders built into a drawer. I stopped asking for their 'wish-list' of kitchen gadgets because they spend hours searching sites like Houzz and Pinterest for photos of things that often don't belong together.

Contemporary or Italian styles don't get fluted mouldings, wood crown moulding and turned wooden legs on the island. Just because you saw it online doesn't make it right.

That makes as much sense as foam dice and dingle-balls on a Mercedes!

But, I've got to do these freaking drawers that hold paper towels.

These clients must be different as nearly every time I reach for a paper towel, my hands are wet! That means the door below it will get water splashed on it. Duh...

I received a request to put one over the trash drawer... you know the place with smelly garbage just inches away. That should give you a warm, fuzzy feeling when you pull a paper towel to wipe your face!

Pink Floyd: Hey Hey Rise Up...

It's been a generation since Pink Floyd recorded together. They recently reunited in the studio to record and produce a fundraiser for the people of Ukraine.
Inspired by singer Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band Boombox, who ended his US tour and returned home in Kyiv to defend his country.

Ketanji Brown Jackson...

News this week: Senate confirms Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, making her the 116th justice and the first Black woman to serve on the top U.S. court.

51-year old Jackson will replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer, 83, who was confirmed to the bench in 1994.

Flash Bang...

In an attempt to deter vehicle (or contents) theft, a guy rigs his truck with an explosive set to go off when someone gains entry and tampers with the interior.
Described as a loud, non-lethal triggered deterrent set up in the center console of the truck.

He installed surveillance video to capture the event.

Intended to scare off a would-be thief, it's one of those 'Don't try this at home' events, because the owner of the vehicle would be liable should the thief actually be harmed.

Yeah... that reminds me of the shop owner who was tired of thieves getting into his store via the roof mounted air vent. He wired the interior grill so that someone trying to remove it (and gain access into the building) would get an electrical shock and back off. Unfortunately (for him) it sent 120 volts through someone completing the circuit and the guy fried like a hotdog in a toaster oven!
He was sued by the dead man's family.

The death of Aunt Jemima...

No, she wasn't my aunt, but her death bears great significance. Breakfast won't be the same without her. I do pancakes once a month and the large box I had was empty last week.

I headed over to WalMart to buy another box and Aunt Jemima disappeared. In her place were boxes by Pearl Milling Company. I never heard of them before this. They have the audacity to say Original. Original what? Original copies of Aunt Jemima?

I'm annoyed by this... So what's next?
I guess you'll be saying Uncle Ben died too...

Ron could be in jail the rest of his life...

Every few weeks, there is a news story update about Ron Jeremy, former porn star who was arrested a few years ago and it appears they have thrown away the key!
He's got a schlong long list of offenses and Ron could be in jail the rest of his life...

Held without bond, he's got some 30 criminal counts pending against him.
A few weeks ago he requested that each case be handled individually.
Today's news is the case against him be suspended as they now question his mental health.

According to his attorney:
"Six weeks before the start of a trial on charges that he sexually assaulted nearly two dozen women, Jeremy, 69, was unable to recognize his attorney, refused to get into his wheelchair and was generally "nonresponsive" inside of a cell at a downtown L.A. courthouse."
So now, the Judge agreed to pause his criminal case and scheduled a mental health competency hearing for April.

Good luck Ron... but it looks like you'll be needing more than luck to survive this one.

The year of the -ologists...

When people feel okay, they tend to avoid doctors. COVID comes around and all normal visits get cut to nothing. Maybe you... and maybe me.
I haven't seen a cardiologist in a least 5 years. There's a 3 month wait. I'm on a list to see one. Hearing? I went to an audiologist (I think that's the right word and not someone who listen to music a lot) to have my hearing checked. Urologist... I'll get to see one before summer. Pulmonogist, twice this year. Proctologist, first time ever. Neurologist, this month. I've had my eyes checked twice for prescription glasses... there must be an -ologist name attached to that profession. Later this month, I'm scheduled to see an opthamologist.

All of these doctors are covered by my insurance. I say "Let's dot it!"

14-year old boy falls from a 430 foot theme park ride...

It must have been 2 weeks ago when the news came through about a teenage boy falling from a ride. Honestly, I skipped over the story. What went through my mind was a thin runt of a kid (like the young Tom Hanks in the movie BIG) who was too short to get on the ride and somehow they let him pass.
As usual, as more details surface, the story intensifies.
This 14-year old 'boy' was 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighed 340 pounds.
In metric that's 195.58cm and 154.22kg.
For comparison, that makes him significantly larger than the average man!

That FreeFall ride has a maximum weight of of 287 pounds, making the boy 53 pounds over the limit and a forensic investigator has been hired to understand what happened.
(I think I already know what happened)

This story won't be over any time soon... I expect the next article to describe a team of attorneys... from both sides!

The only food that hasn't been affected by inflation...

Seafood and steak in some places are now double. Some vegetables are coming in around 40% higher. We all see it and we all feel it. The dollar store items are now $1.25 but the only thing I've found that hasn't gone up in price are the mini-pies at Walmart.
Fifty cents for as long as I remember...
