Anti-Vaxx fear mongering is not a new problem...

Today I read an article that described an anti-vaccination movement that started early in the 19th century where people were skeptical of the smallpox vaccine. They stated the side effects they dreaded were far more terrifying.

For example: blindness, deafness, ulcers, a gruesome skin condition called "cowpox mange" - even sprouting hoofs and horns.

Publications with artist sketches were passed out to (mis) inform the public.

We are into bigger lies such as 'Bill Gates put microchips in the vaccine and when you are near a 5G tower, it will turn you into a zombie.

Pretty amazing if you ask me.
My question is: "How do they get one microchip into a tiny needle from a vile of vaccine?"
I am told 'the microchip is already in the needle'

Steve, Steve, Steve...

It may be time for Steve Bannon to pay the piper.
Indicted by a federal grand jury Friday. He is charged with contempt of Congress for refusing to answer questions from the House Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Two contempt counts:
One for refusing to appear for a deposition and another for declining to produce documents requested by the committee.

If convicted, Bannon could face up to a year behind bars and a fine of up to $100,000.

You go boy !!

Supreme Babka...

I live in a 55 and older community that started out predominately Jewish. There are 2 synagogues and New York bagel style restaurant within the village. The grocery store across the street has a large ethnic section of foods typical of the Jewish religion/culture.

The bakery there often has seasonal items like Mondel bread that is baked as a loaf and cut with the appearance of Biscotti. The main difference is the Mondel bread texture is softer, similar to a chocolate chip cookie.

Last week something new (to me) appears in the bakery section... Babka.
The description is a sweet bread that has folded layers. I've seen two flavors. Chocolate and Cinnamon.

$6 for a loaf is pricey in my book, but I was curious.
Finishing the last slice tonight, it's doubtful I would try it again.

Maybe cinnamon rolls would be a less expensive choice.

Quarter-mile mile speed record...

Jay Leno breaks the Bugatti Chiron speed record of 9.4 seconds doing a 1/4 mile in 9.247 seconds with the Tesla Model S Plaid. His record was short lived as later in the day, a Tesla driver does 9.234 breaking Leno's record for the title of the fastest production car.

Human nature...

It's been through the ages that people need something to complain about. They feel better after doing it. If CS didn't have Jim to obsess on, it would only be... Well, you know.

If you are looking for Granny...

I see a new profile popped up today for a retired 62 year old woman living in Sheffield, England. Her intentions are clear and so are her topless photos!
She's whorn-knee and comes as a married couple... However she can separate if needed.

Wow, what a deal!

Guys, don't wait. I'm sure this deal won't last long.

Quest for an elusive soulmate...

A very high percentage of dating site members are seeking a soulmate.
It appears to be the number one request.
You know... that 'one-in-a-million' chance of finding someone.

Forget dating for a few seconds and do some math instead.
Let's play the lottery. Pick 6 that runs twice a week.
Bet 100 cards at a dollar each time.
Ignoring the months that have 5 weeks for now, it's 8 times per month
That's $800 a month or $9,600 a year.
9,600 tries to get a winning number.
I read somewhere that people go into a frenzy when the jackpot exceeds $100 million and they start betting more. The smart thing to do is increase your selections to increase your odds or get into an office pool where groups of people put money together and agree to share the winnings.
What we don't hear is obsessive gambling bringing up winners.

Considering 90% or more of the dating site are scammers, you've got 10% to work with.

Messaging 100 and you might find 10 worth starting a conversation with. Of the 10, you may only find 1 of them worth trying to actually meet.
One in a hundred is pretty low odds just to meet someone who came here to meet their soulmate too!

Can I do what you do?

Can I post a blog that asks a question and solicits responses from my readers?
Can I break CS rules and write a gossip blog/personal attack about another member, mentioning their profile name?
Can I do a few anti-Biden/liberal/democrat blogs a week?
Can I complain about anyone who posts blogs against Trump?
Can I go from blog to blog of the members I dislike and post disruptive/useless/heckler comments over and over?
Can I post lots of 'off the wall' anti-vax blogs each week?
Can I repeatedly blog about Bill Gates eating babies and reducing the worlds population?

Actually, it's not in me to do those things... I'm not into anyone's click and seeing the most popular (and controversial) blogs are that way, maybe it's time I change my blogging style to up my level in the pecking order here!

I came from a defunct dating site that had blogs, forums, chat room and private chat system. When I arrived on CS there were lots of complaints about the new wave of refugees. Different crowd, same theme.
Since bloggers aren't daters, I always wonder when administration will lock forums and blogs and make them fade into an archive. I won't be shocked.

When I come here via cellphone, I'm pounded with advertisements I don't see on my desktop. It must be revenue when people click those links that keeps this place alive.

Food for a different blog...

Put your money where your mouth is...

Let's say someone was boasting and you didn't believe the story they were telling. You could suggest a wager... bet money against what they say is true. Put your money where your mouth is would be a common saying.

This blog is not about boasting or betting. It's about a trip to the dentist.

Earlier this year, I had some food trapped between 2 crowned teeth and was heading to a client appointment. Within a few hours I had some serious pain coming from the outside just below the gum line. Lucky for me, the dentist was able to see me without much wait. X-rays didn't show anything but the area was red so the doctor prescribed antibiotics and very slowly the pain subsided, but not enough to be considered gone.

The dentist referred me to a specialist who probed around and pulled out what appeared to be a tiny filament lodged deep in the gum line that didn't come out from daily waterpik rinses. I believe it came from the dental floss. I persisted and the pain was nearly gone. If I pressed on the jawbone near the area I could feel pressure.

Unhappy, the next trip was to the primary doctor who referred me to an ENT. From that visit got me a CT scan that showed negative. However, he prescribed Naproxen to reduce swelling. Within a week, I began to feel human again.

Fast forward and eventually, the pain/pressure returned. My trip to see my brother was booked so I saw the primary car who prescribed Naproxen and some antivert in-case I got dizzy from the flight.

Next stop: Dentist.
More inclusive x-rays and a prescription for antibiotic.
While I was there, they wanted to book a cleaning, but I had issues with the hygienist and told them I planned to go elsewhere for a cleaning. Within seconds another person came into the office and sat down. She must have overheard me and asked why. Not wanting to go into too much detail, I said it's wasn't sufficient to be called a cleaning. Introducing herself as a hygienist, she had a cancellation and asked if I wanted to book with her. Now?
Yes...
Okay, this must be my lucky day.
I said hand scaling only... no cavatron.
She said okay.
(this blog is running longer that I thought)

Something I've never seen before is she had a tiny rubber-tipped probe with graduations that is used to measure the gap between teeth and spaces at the gum line. Basically, mapping out the entire mouth and entering this information into my chart.

I rarely fall for gimmicks (like nitrogen filled tires) and was a little skeptical about the service/procedure she suggested. It's a deep cleaning and injecting antiseptic gel between the teeth/gums. It lasts for weeks. Okay, let's do it.

The cleaning was the best I've had in more than 20 years and injecting the gel into the gums was painless. The cost combined with the cleaning was a few hundred, but I'm at the point (despite a few crowns) I still have all my teeth and hope this treatment helps to keep it that way!

Already the antibiotic has started to 'kick in' and the swelling is down.

I think it was a good idea to put my money where my mouth is...

Rust: Cinematographer down...

On October 21st, 2021, actor Alec Baldwin while on set for filming of the movie RUST discharges a gun used as a prop. The gun wasn't loaded with a blank, instead it had a real bullet that struck director of photography, Halyna Hutchins and film's director, Joel Souza who was behind Halyna. Hutchins dies and Souza survives.

Opinions of 180 degrees start flying. Some blame Baldwin for not checking the gun. Some say it's handled by specialized film crew, actor's aren't required to check props. On and on we go.

Investigations start coming through and the finger of blame gets rotated a few times a day.
Currently, we are up a few new stories daily (and several re-hashed) about the events leading up to this tragedy.
Search warrants, investigations, lack of safety protocols, previous misfiring incidents, gun practice, empty shells.Filming has ceased, the crew has gone home.

Believe what you want to believe...

People believe what they want to believe, no matter how much contrary evidence you show them.
Last week, someone commented on an old blog that Obama wasn't born in America. Yeah, the birther movement, it's still alive... started by (name omitted) and years later, after America became divided and wasted millions of hours in dispute, were unable to prove that statement. (name omitted) admitted it was fabricated. Everyone heard he came from Africa. Apparently only a few heard it wasn't true, or at least don't want to change their belief.

Some people believe the insurrection on January 6th was a peaceful protest.
