A Broken Heart
My son broke my heart twice when I heard him say:(he was five) pointing to a man over 6 feet he said, "I want to be that tall when I grow up."
Truthfully I don't remember what I told him but I do remember my thoughts were crass as in "NO chance in hell, there is no heigth in this Italian family, we are all shrimps" I remember my heart broke when I heard him say he wanted to be tall.
He was once married for ten years. One evening he was over with the news on about a Mother that just drowned her daughter. My son who has wanted kids all his life, mentioned if there was a God, how cruel could he be to give that killing Mother a daughter but no child to him. That broke my heart.
Twice my son broke my heart.
However, last yr he married a gal with a son and it's like he won the lotto. He is getting to be a Dad and it WARMS my heart.
and neither Trump or Obama had a thing to do with it.

As a mother if 2 big boys now I found it hard if I see them sad but I tried to stand firm and just show what is the best to help them be...

I also broke my father´s heart when I was about 5 saying I wanted to marry a black man when I´m older.
At that time I was living in Paris where there are many black people but there were also quite a few Americans.
Strangely enough, I´ve always been attracted to black men and quite a few have come across my path since.
Another time was when I was a teenager and cut my hair, just to defy my father who was always so proud of my long hair. But, in a way, I was punishing myself and have never cut it since.
Anyway, nice to hear that your son is now happy with his family.
