I Cannot Understand It
I’m starting to believe that I do not have a proper grasp of the English language. Some people simply cannot or will not understand what I try to say. This happens in real life as well.If I said: ‘All the people who arrived with the first bus, are now seated’, somebody is bound to quote me as having said: ‘All the people who are now seated, arrived with the first bus’. These two statements are not mutually inclusive. To make the second statement true, you have to replace the word ‘All’ in the first statement with ‘Only’. I can understand if the person doing this is still learning to speak English, but these are native English speakers.
And then there are the people who drag things out the context of the blog or paragraph. One has to be so careful of what you write or it may explode in your face. Each word has to be vetted and reevaluated before use. It takes a lot of the pleasure out of blogging. It is as if some people scan the blogs just to find something to criticize, regardless of the context or the spirit of the blog and paragraph. They are easy to recognize, it is the same people all the time. They do nothing but criticize. Never a positive comment.
I think some people simply fail to see the humor in apparent serious situations. Looking at something from the funny side of it, does not make it less serious, nor does it ridicule the ‘victims’. It is the situation and the circumstances, sometimes riddled with inconsistencies, which are being mocked with. There is humor in the most serious of events and I somewhat pity those who cannot see it. They miss a lot. We cannot go through life with long faces.
And maybe it is time to be less sensitive and to start laughing at ourselves. We, as individuals, are the funniest creatures on this planet; if only we could see ourselves the way others see us. Laugh a bit more, even if it is at your own expense. Life can be such fun.
You have a great weekend, will ya!

Hello Catfoot
A round face? Only the emoticons have round faces.
We have them oval, oblong or what else. Some with square jaws and some with pointy noses.
It is ok to criticize but when somebody can only criticize without ever seeing anything good, I see problems.
I think they fell off the bus in any way.
Did you know that in Moscow its raining at this very moment? Who cares?
Oh yea and Putin has no friends...
It is a shame. He is such a loveable fella. With so many buttons to push.
Further, it might be in delay.
It may even have been data bus but we still don't know if it was the 32 or the 64 seat model.
Glad to see you back on the blogs with your own unique touch.
With regard to the people and the bus scenario, I think the problem has more to do with logic than with understanding language per se.
Consider the following:
A dog is an animal.
A cat is an animal.
Therefore, a dog is a cat.
With your permission, Let's invite some responses from others to the above.
I've been back for a week or two now and flabbergasted by the silence on the blogs. What has happened to all the veterans here?
I can still buy your logic. Therefore i fa man is a human and a woman is a human then... Nope, there is a flaw in it. Or we cannot both be humans.
Hmm, I think that many times things are taken out of context just to have something to criticize.
Another thing is people who wants to start an argument about something that happened in another country, armed only with knowledge obtained from newspapers and the WWW. When will they ever learn? The mass media feeds on sensation and what they dish up for their readers is very often grossly exaggerated. If something big happened overseas I listen and learn. The locals understand the problem better.
Hmm en miere het ore.
I Agree With! All Of Yawl.
PS. Also! English can sound like greek. You just have to feel your way around it! As well as finding the humor in it as well..
What goes up! Will come down. But! There can be somethings that! Is down may not never go up. ....
just stay away from those sour-faces...I believe they're born like that...they run out of people to bother in real life...so here they are on CS
Omareu guta beta uater petvek....
Did you look at MY profile? That is unforgivable. I was chasing a record of two years with out any views, and now a day short you ruined it all.
I think it is more a case of knowing that nobody can punch them on the nose when on line.
yes, it's one of the privileges... but a sour-face online is a sour-face in real life...I don't think they have many friends to hang out with...Blog land is a haven for them
True, we cannot pretend to be out when on-line.
oops! I didn't mean to say that.
Sorry! Again...
I can still be online when I'm out...I have my phone so I can always read blog...
When I'm at work...CS is just a tab away..
I'm usually offline when I'm home...that's the time I spend with my kid, clean my house, run errands and sleep...
I think it means that you agree but don't know what the topic is about.
Sometime we on;y hear what we want to. We have a rerm for it in my mother's tongue. It translates to 'East Indian Deaf'.
My problem is I'm always on line. Not necessarily with CS though. My ISP boots me off sometimes but within 10 minutes my email client logs me back on when it looks for email.
that's good! you can't miss a thing here!
CS also boots me off from time to time. It drives me crazy when I have to log in again before making a comment.
I believe Angel has the application on her phone. I don't know how it works but she gets to read and reply emails and blogs in her phone wherever she goes...
No special app needed for that. I can do it on my phone too but I battle too much with the small screen (poor eyesight) and the tiny keyboard (thick fingers).
But I feel you. There's a lot of people here like me who's not born of the English language but even those that are born in it can be misunderstood on their own way of processing what was said. I see it even in court.
But like Z said, what happened to those who are on the other bus? Are they going to be seated too?
Anyways have a nice weekend guys.
If you read the paragraph closely you will find that at least some of those arriving with the 2nd bus were already seated. Otherwise the 2nd statement would also have been true.
