Dealing With Depression

This is a topic that is close to me. I have dealt with depression for the better part of my life. Been seeing doctors for years, taking medications, soul searching, and so on.

Anyone with depression can tell you that its always there, waiting for a chance to raise its head and take your life over. Depression has cost me a lot of things in life that most people take for granted. Things like having a job, emotional stability, relationships, friendships, peace of mind.

I could go out tomorrow and get a job because at the moment, I am doing ok. That can all change though next week. I would end up loosing the job and be right back to square 1. Every job I had in the past, I lost because of this condition. The last job I had was away from home over 10 years ago. I was doing ok until I had a depressed episode. Lost the job and was 2 days away from being kicked out on the street because I couldn't pay the rent. Had no food, no money, no nothing. I had to get my mom to send me a plane ticket to come home.

I have lost friends because they didn't understand what depression was and just didn't want to deal with it. Last gf I had I lost because I fell into a depressed slump after my father died and she got sick of dealing with me.

I take medications that will probably shorten my life by 20 years and though they do help, its not a cure and even with the medications, I am still susceptible to relapses and "bad" days.

Then there are people who make fun of me, say I am weak and go out of their way to avoid me at all costs. Imagine going to the corner store and knowing the people you are standing up in line with would rather smash you in the head with a brick than to say hello to you.

Then there is the burden on your family. I live with my mom still (I am close to 40 years old) because I can't manage to live on my own. Its hard on a family when a member is depressed because they have to deal with it. I am lucky that my family is understanding but there are some families that will put that depressed member out through the door and tell them not to come back because they are too hard to deal with.

I will have to deal with this for the rest of my life, never being able to look forward to having a normal life.

in low spirits.........

Everyone has their “bad days.” Other people may do things that are not expected or appreciated, causing a person to be highly disappointed. Or a person might believe that another person is “Polly Perfect,” who seemingly has never had a care in her life, and somehow goes through life without any problems. These, and other emotional issues, can cause emotional problems.

But there is far more to it than emotional or psychological issues. Why is one person depressed by their problems, while another person, who has even more reasons to be depressed, is not affected by their problems?

In many cases a relatively normal situation is compounded by foods that are eaten. It is not that foods are bad, it is the way that foods are processed and it is the things that are added to the foods that can be bad. A person who eats whole, raw foods, such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, rarely has foods contribute to their psychological problems. But even in this case, food allergies may come into play.

It should be made perfectly clear that many emotional problems are predominantly caused by diet. It may be a food allergy (e.g. to food dye) or a substance added to foods (e.g. aspartame or MSG) or the way foods are processed (e.g. trans-fatty acids), or heavy metals that find their way into the body (e.g. mercury and aluminum from vaccinations) but foods frequently play a far more significant part than most people realize.

In many cases an emotional problem is a combination of both situational events and foods!!! Let me say that again: in many cases an emotional problem is a combination of both situational events and foods!!!

Another issue that needs to be dealt with is whether to seek professional help or to deal with the problem within the circle of family and friends. This decision can only be made by the family, but the decision is not always an easy one.

It will help immensely to know what causes the problem. And since the problem may be a food problem, such as a food allergy, too much aspartame, lack of a critical nutrient, etc. it is critical to understand everything that might be a cause, especially those things that are beyond situational events.

The first level is to deal with the problem using family and friends. This level should include an analysis of what foods are eaten and may be contributing to the problem. Many cases which appear to have nothing to do with food are in fact caused mainly by food issues.

However, in rare cases where suicide is a real potential, there may be no choice but to immediately seek professional help for the short term, and deal with the causes in the long term.

However, there is a trade-off in dealing with professional help. When a person is forcefully put in a mental ward of a hospital there is a permanent stigma that may cause more long-term harm than by dealing with the problem within the family. Each case is different and each case must be dealt with common sense and much contemplation

CIGARETTE.......

I hate cigarette smokers. I think you have to be a total idiot to smoke. And I support laws that restrict smoking inside a building where non-smokers have to breathe it. But when you're outside where the ratio of air to fumes is low, you have to be reasonable and let the idiots smoke. Does it make them less of an idiot because they are allowed to smoke? No. But this is CS ( America) where you have the freedom to be an idiot if that's what you choose to do..... .... ....rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing angel wink

There Were Different Sections Here For All Of

The Blogs , Forums , Games , Quizzes etc. ?

You know when you log in and see who is online and

Maybe read a profile of maybe someone not too far away

(As per profile anyway ) ?

And you drop a line as you are both logged in but they do not

Reply as they are bloggers / poets Just examples handshake

There is no real way of knowing. There was a lady not too happy

Here lately that people were making friend requests without getting

To know her which is fair enough. But for all we know maybe that was

Their way of saying they liked her blog handshake How Can We Know ?

People get slated for posting and not allowing replies ?

It is their perogative and within the rules. I will sign off by saying if one person

Sees a glass half empty but another sees it half full it is scientifically possible for

Both of them to be correct .
