Logically illogical... be afraid, be very afraid!

I got a laugh from a video posted to a recent blog. It shows a side of people who create opinions not based on any fact. Two generations ago, TV host Art Linkletter would ask children questions and show their (funny) views on topics that were about 'life' in general.
Usually, it's a reflection of things they see their parents do and not something that comes from an outside source. I'll repeat... usually. Unless there is an outside (educational) source, those opinions most likely will stick with the child and be a part of their personality as an adult. Not part of this blog... I think being a racist is taught, often by parents.

My first marriage had associations with a sister-in-law and her husband. We were all in the same age group and often went to the movies together. They had a young daughter... probably 4 years old at the time. We went to see The Fly (1986) a remake of the 1958 classic and they brought their daughter along. Too young for a movie like this? I think so.
Although it was Science Fiction, a strong part of the remake was a love story.
A botched experiment has the DNA of the scientist mixed with a fly that was in the booth during a test of his teleporter. At the end of the movie, the human side of the fly, signifies to his girlfriend to use a gun to end his life. Suspense builds and she hesitates...
At that point, my niece blurts out "Shoot the damned thing!"
The laughter in the theater was overwhelming and I know where she got 'the damned thing' from.

My thoughts are shifting to possibly several blogs in one but the video had several politically motivated 'on the street' interviews and one guy had pinned Obama for a big part of 911. "Never in the office" was a comment of his. I suppose had Obama been president at the time, being in the office would be of significance. For the record, George Bush was president and he wasn't in the office at the time. I recall a secret service agent interrupted him from a meeting with school children to whisper something in his ear. The guy with the strong (incorrect) opinion to Obama's whereabouts is most likely a registered voter. Be afraid... be very afraid.

Hey! remember all those people (with no medical degree) claiming COVID-19 is just a virus with less potential of death than the flu? Many of them are first to bring up the bad idea of using nursing homes for COVID-19 quarantining as it infected patients and staff there. Well, if it's ONLY a potent as the flu, then logically, it should be a non-issue.

My thought is logically, many people stick to knowledge and opinions that are illogical.

We are not the wave we are the water.

We are not the wave we are the water.
We pitch and fall with the wave as it moves through us.
Rising then crashing on the shores of time.

Nomophobia....

Nomophobia represents the irrational fear of being without a mobile phone. The term was coined in 2009 in the UK and comes from the anglicism "nomophobia" ("no-mobile-phone-phobia").

i would feel....
uncomfortable without constant access to information through my smartphone"
"Running out of battery in my smartphone would scare me"
"I would feel anxious because I could not keep in touch with my family and/or friends"

You feel anxious when your phone battery gets low. ...
You can't leave the house without your smartphone. ...
You feel annoyed when you can't access your phone. ...
You put your life or others' lives at risk to check your smartphone. ...
You use your phone to check for work updates while on holiday.

The effects of the moon...

Two days ago I blogged about a supermoon where the moons orbit is closest to earth and a full moon will appear twice in the month of August. Also noted is people getting irritated during a full moon. You only have to look at the recent blogs to see that phenomena is true.
Trump's indictment was only gasoline to a fire that already started.

Hopefully, in days to come people will realize that on a dating site where less than 20 people regularly blog, what gets said here doesn't mean 'diddly' in the real world.

POLISH HELP for refugees is great.

One thing that is refreshing to see is how the Polish authorities have organised the reception of thousands of refugees. How great that is compared to what is happening the other end of the railway lines. What an excellent example the Polish people have displayed to the world.applause applause applause applause cheering cheering

Remembering...

I'm searching for an old blog this morning and came across a few comments by Bearwoman who left us a few years ago. A friend had her password and came to announce she had died.

She is not forgotten...

Comments on MSM articles?

Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, but ......
I can't seem to find any 'Readers Comments' on main stream media articles. I could be wrong but if anyone knows of 'Comments Allowed' to current world affairs on any MSM (CNN, ABC, BBC etc.) I'd sure appreciate that link.

I don't mean the 'Baby Section' or the 'DIY section or Sports Page' etc. but current world news articles that concern everyone.

I enjoy reading the comments on current events made by the 'man in the street'. Those comments are non existent these days or am I mistaken?

Doomsday Preppers...

I was channel surfing yesterday and came across a show about people who take extreme measures to prepare for doomsday. The family on the episode had a garage filled with food and items to sustain themselves for months. The husband bought a large military surplus truck designed to travel on rough terrain. They went on a field trip where the man reveals a cavern with a steel door where they planned to live. They descended down by ladder and had plans to stay there in the event of some Apocalypse/world-ending catastrophe.

I see there was a landing with stairs down to the entrance. Hope he doesn't encounter 5 days of rain or the entrance will flood and they could be swimming inside that cavern!

Anyway, I went to YouTube to see if I could find that episode and to my surprise all kinds of 'prepper' videos showed up. Survival bunkers, living off the grid instructions, combat training, weapons needed, emergency food and medicine stockpile, protective gear, batteries, gas & generators, solar power, bicycle generators.

Some of the statistics say only 1% of the population will survive an Apocalypse.

When I hear the word prepper, I usually think of pepper... as in Dr. Pepper.
"Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?"
