Big Brother Surveillance Expands Worldwide

Embedded image from another site

More than 40 years old, this cartoon presaged the arrival of surveillance society. (Cartoonist – Ron Cobb – 1968).

NOVEMBER 17, 2014 POSTED BY JOSEPH CANDEL

Joseph Candel: Big Brother has not only arrived, but he is already tightening his grip on the world. From Australia to India, Canada, South America, the U.S., and Europe, the infrastructure for a One World Government that keeps an eye on people “for their own good and the good of society” is being put in place. Today’s surveillance tools are paving the way for the most monitored society imaginable.

It’s all about control. The Bible predicts that a One World Government is coming, led by a Devil-possessed dictator known in the Bible as the Antichrist or the Beast (Daniel 11:21, 23-24; 8:23-25; Revelation 13:4-7). To rule the world, the Antichrist must first be able to control the people, and how can he control the people unless he knows what they’re doing?

Surveillance is becoming big business worldwide, largely in the name of anti-terrorism and law enforcement. And as could be expected, privacy rights advocates are continually up in arms, arguing that there is inadequate control and independent supervision over the potential abuse of these systems by unscrupulous businesses and law enforcement agencies.

Unfortunately, with limited transparency or accountability to the general public, there is no telling for the most part when and how individual privacies are unnecessarily compromised. The NSA/Snowden saga is still fresh in the minds of people who are yet to be convinced that government can be trusted not to abuse privacy rights or confidential information belonging to innocent parties.

So the public in general may need to become resigned to the fact that surveillance continue to be a part of everyday life – which may be well-intentioned from a security management standpoint but wide open to potential abuses beyond that. Consider the extensive ways in which surveillance has become commonplace in society today.

All pretty “cool” from the law enforcement perspective, if used correctly – and there are no guarantees about that. Most public discomfort and suspicion however, seems to be directed towards network video/camera surveillance. For example, in St. Louis, Missouri, a new report from the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri finds the city of St. Louis is doing a poor job preserving the privacy rights of residents and visitors as it expands its network of surveillance cameras.

It’s called Google Fit, and besides challenging Apple’s Health Kit service, it also represents Google’s efforts to gather real-world data to complement the information it already has about the digital world.

Mott adds: “It’s especially worrisome for a company like Google to be gathering so much real world data. The company has historically struggled with striking the right balance between its presumed right to gather information and consumers’ actual right to privacy. For example, it’s been tracking the locations of countless people to serve better advertisements and improve Google Maps.

It’s also acquiring an increasing number of services that surveil consumers’ homes. And finally, it’s building drones that could gather information about anyone beneath their flight path, like a murder of all-seeing crows”.

So who will control any potential personal or consumer privacy excesses by “Big brother” and powerful businesses such as Google and Facebook?

Given that “Big Brother” and “Big business” are at the top of their respective spheres of authority and influence, can they be trusted to police themselves? Or will they continue to work together to ensure that there will eventually be “no place to run, or to hide?” No prizes for guessing what will happen…

Blog Bandits

I am amazed at some of the people on this site. All they seem to do is trawl through the blogs so that they can criticise and complain about what has been written.
Can these people not use their own brain and create a blog instead of leeching?

But not books.

Can we share some quotations from your books or a writer that you like...

Thank you all..

I will start with quote from Derek Walcott

The time will come
when with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your door in your own mirror .
And each will smile at the others welcome

I love the plays from Derek Walcott...

Every good story teller nowadays starts with the end
and goes on to the begining, and concludes with the middel.

End of today, beginning of tomorrow

25 minutes ... before the clock's hour and minute sticks come together as one to mark a new day. A new day starts in darkness at midnight and gets brighter when our eyes open to the sunlight. That way i hardly notice that a new day doesnt begin with sunshine but grows from dark to light.

So many questions about him when he helped me organize Mom's celebration. "Who is he?; is he your boyfriend?; are you marrying him soon?; why don't you marry him, he is good..." Bla bla yes he is good but he is just my buddy.

And today once again i had to turn down his proposal. It hurts. Not only him but also me. I wish i could love him. I have tried several times for more than 10 years but i can't lie to myself. He is good but my feelings just won't come...

Sometimes life is like a chasing game. People want what they can not get and do not want what they have... but anyway, love can not be forced..i must let go even though i m lost.

What do i want? A nice western gentleman. Why? Why not Asian? I have many decent married western colleagues and friends and i like the ways they treat their women. I have witnessed and had not good experience with Asian men that keeps me stay away from them.

But now, talking with some white guys online really confuses my mind. What perception should i have about western guys? I used to think they are nice, kind, humble and respect people on an equal ground. However, now i really dont know if i should correct my perception.

Many of those white guys i have talked to seem so different from what i thought. Seem they look down on Asian women, poor countries. Seem they just want submissive women. They are even much more arogant than dominant men which i hate the most.

Or is that because of misunderstanding or different ways of thinking that hampered and made the conversations go wrong? But why most of my foreign colleagues and friends love me? Or cos of my shortage of knowledge of culture barriers or cos of my unlucky encounter to people whom i should just think of as a reference for socio-diversity?...

So many questions to be cleared in the way to address the challenges, improve myself to reach a harmonized relation.

I was so irritated today by an Australian guy who immediately said i was a scammer and a b*tch after he saw my skype location in philippine (i registered skype when i was there) and i said he was arrogant as he looked down on poor countries. I was so shocked. Never had i received such dirty words until i opened up myself and joined this online world. People warned me it is a hot pot including much trush that makes it difficult to have trust but it is really not easy when we actually have to encounter it to filter and be clear.

Really tired now. I need more western friends to get to know them to learn more and maybe think less lol. And now what i need the most, a sound sleep! Tomorrow a new clear sky is awaiting to expel part of the ambiguity.

MONEY AND GOLD

We are not unhappy but are we really content? We are all hunters, wanderers, seekers and searchers.... but there's no end to it, since men are never contented in life. It's a mechanism of system in motion. Even making a choice isn't an end itself. It's also child stuff. We need more toys, more playmates, more gadgets, more interesting stuff for our pleasure. But think we're all whole in our own self. As Einstein once said, "We are spiritual beings trying to be physical." Actually we should go beyond our earthly existence and appreciate what we don't see as love, joy, our divinity and sacredness for we won't be here if we're not simply loved! We're connected to the Family of Nature but each one of us is whole in our own self if we align with a Higher Intelligence and Force bigger than us.

Money and gold is not our only resource! Health and wellness, talent and freedom, intelligence and wisdom, a positive attitude and a realistic optimism, our adaptability and flexibility, courage and other virtues, family and friends. I'll be always grateful to a male friend who helped me out when I traveled without my credit card. Fortunately, he was in Geneva when I phoned him. He sent immediately the amount I asked without judgment and scolding me. My trip would have been ruined, a waste if my plea was ignored, but he really acted as authentic caring friend! We should appreciate beautiful human beings in our life. The rule of money is we never give or lend unless we trust the person. Money is a kind of energy we don't throw away. But just a reminder, money or gold is not the only wealth one can have in this world.

can you slap her?

Can you hit your wife or girlfriend?

short answer: No.

longer answer: No, of course not!

Good advice to avoid an escalating confrontation: take a walk and cool down, or climb up onto your roof (don't fall down!). Personally, I think taking a walk would be the safer option.

"Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife." Proverbs 21:9

Basically, ya never hit a woman!

Some people believe otherwise:

Please read whole article: it wasn't enacted into law..there were protests etc. It was only a recommendation. My beef is that it should never have been recommended.
