We need help. Add suggestions for an orderly future

How about a new social media called something like Chatter which will allow you to select the categories in which you have an interest, and will automatically join you to everyone else in that category. This will instantly give everyone several million interest-sharing friends. Loneliness efficiently banished ... uh oh

I suspect CS is now far too serious a place to be weird and whacky but hey. It's Sunday and the sun is shining, worth a try.

There's sport and politics (the dream teams), and food and income and travel, all need some outside-the-box thinking. Fill your boots.

1984 & In the Year 2525

Orwell published "1984" in 1949. Years later, some of Orwell's predictions have come true.
Our digital privacy is constantly under attack. BIG BROTHER IS INDEED WATCHING

Which leads me to wonder, how many of Zager & Evans' predictions will come true from their song "In the Year "2525" Remember, that cool song?

WARNING: CONTENTS EXTREMELY HOT!

There are people in this world who lack common sense. Many of them don't read instructions before operating machinery or doing things deemed dangerous/careless by other members of society.
I recall a story about a woman who bought a motor-home, gets on the highway, turns on cruise control. She gets up from the driver's seat to go back and make a cup of coffee and the vehicle runs off the road crashing and injuring the woman.
Obviously, she assumed cruise control was auto-pilot. Lady, it's a motor-home and not a Boeing 747.
I'm sure vehicle manufacturers have added warnings on the control and increased the owner's handbook warning.
Sometimes, their stupidity actually pays off. Take the case of the 79 year old woman who was negligent and spilled hot McDonalds coffee on her lap while in her car causing 3rd degree burns that required skin grafting and 2 years of medical treatment. Stupidly McDonalds didn't want to pay her $20,000 medical expenses and settle. The woman's attorney sued and got her millions.
After... you guessed it, all the McDonalds coffee cups and lids now have explicit warnings.
It happened again to an 85 year old woman who placed the cup in the car's drink holder, drove to an appointment and parked. She claims the lid wasn't put on correctly and ALL of the coffee spilled on her when she started to drink it. I do hope McDonalds had better lawyers for that case.

So the next time you decide to watch that bag of microwave popcorn puff up while cooking, Take my advice and stand back. You're done when the popping is nearly stopped... Otherwise being too close the door and some spurious radiation leaks out it could be your eyeballs that will puff up.
While on the subject of microwave radiation, NEVER try to dry your pet inside a microwave oven. The results would be alarming.

The only game in town

I've got into the habit of playing the card game solitaire on my computer lately, when I can't be bothered to do anything else. We always called that game patience where I come from, and I'm very reluctant to accept it as solitaire. It has occurred to me that, as life goes on around me everywhere, I'm playing solitaire. Now that would have never happened If you Americans hadn't changed the name. mumbling

DNA

My daughter is from an anonymous egg donor.
i took her dna sweep.
and my dna sweep.
i hope i can find a trace of her genetic mother.
regardless of all misery the carry mother put us through.

It is an anxious time.
i don't we will find a trace, but the quicker we analyse the bigger the chances will be in time.

did any one here did donations?
sperm or eggs or uterus?.
i did sperm.
i received eggs.

I dislike the anonymous part of it. family or family genes are bigger than you can ever sign
But the key is also in the genes and in every cell. all cells are linked, throughout generations

This dappled diary

Today I sat beneath an old and mighty oak, to write the words you are now reading.
The tapping of my keyboard was less than a solid sound as the soft breeze through the branches suggested to my mind what to type.
The bright light breaking beyond the canopy of leaves seemed to want a drive in the direction of my writing too. For every word I tried to see on my screen was hidden by the glare of the hot sun peeping down from the rustling fresh green covering above my head.
Today is a day for walking and watching; Asking and being asked, and should one be lucky enough touching and being touched.

The words of W.B Yeats came to mind with the help of such an Old strong yet gentle friend .
"Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild"

Another ghost in the virtual machine.

So there I was sitting down at my computer.
Not much had been happening on CS, I browsed the usual blog titles and nothing Jumped out to suck me in as I hoped it would.
Boredom was upon me so I went to look at my facebook page and thought that perhaps there, I would find something something to sooth my discontentment with reality.
It wasn't long before I was greeted with the bright red square,
You know the one most all of us now associate with a quick release of endorphin's. That's right, The ones we are more than likely a tad addicted to !

It was not what I expected. A friend request !
Not just one but two, It was two brothers from my past, Youthful friends. I had not thought about these guys in a long while, let alone fathomed the Idea that they may be sending me friend requests.

But there it was in front of me, awaiting my acceptance.
I looked at the screen for a while pondering these faces from my past and all the memories that were associated with them.
Some good and some very sad ones were recalled. The conclusion to my pondering was

"Whats the harm, allow the requests through and in a week or two we can all go back to forgetting about each other again"

Thinking this would save me from looking rude or ignorant
I clicked accept. To my shock, I was presented with The message

"Friend request sent"scold

This resulted in me closing my facebook account, I mean the day when I decide to let a piece of software act in a manner

Firstly:-
deceiving me of the intentions of others toward me.

Secondly:-
Assuming it knows best when to repair bridges I may have purposely burned times ago.

And thirdly:-
Using manipulative tactics.

Am I over analyzing this issue, I mean if a person came up to me on the street and said such a person whom I had not seen in a while want me to call to their house, and I went only to be received with blank empty stairs and denials of ever requesting my presence. Then I would feel very stupid and I am sure the other person would feel quite irked too.
This leaves us with the third party, the manipulator of these circumstances. Would I ever expect to be in their company and trust again. ? Would You ?

Let me know what you think cheers

what does your freedom mean to you?

Rather to be hungry and free than well fed and caged.

I love my freedom.
