“The Milky Way is a hazy band of light that can be seen encircling the night sky. This light comes from the stars that make up the Milky Way galaxy, the galaxy to which the sun and the Earth belong. Galaxies are huge systems of stars separated from one another by largely empty space. Astronomers estimate that the Milky Way galaxy contains at least 100 billion stars and is about 100,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is shaped like a compact disk with a central bulge, or nucleus, and spiral arms curving out from the center.” Thought you would like to travel in space! The view is majestic! A Haiku poem: A Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons. In nature there is no good or evil. It's non dualistic. Inspired by Joseph Campbell.

When selecting a poetry style, some of you may have noticed "Tanka" listed alongside "Haiku/Senryu/". A Tanka is another short form of Japanese poem, consisting of five lines. The first and the third lines contain 5 syllables, and the others, 7 syllables. The full layout is: Line one(1) - 5 syllables Line two(2) - 7 syllables Line three(3) - 5 syllables Line four(4) - 7 syllables Line five(5) - 7 syllables It allows you more words than the traditional haiku in which to express your poem. Some of you may want to try it.

True story. Happened long, long ago. Never got the bird and haven't had a beer in over 30 years. To this day I still have trust issues. Probably why I'm still single! Note: The places depicted here are real but some will be unknown to some International members.

In response to the challenge posed several weeks ago. This poem written by a modern Georgian poetess popped up in a recently published almanac. It was such a perfect fit to the challenge that I couldn’t resist temptation to translate it for this occasion. The lady poetess did what I was supposed to do – she did my thinking while I tried my best to translate her poem as close to the original as I could.
