Neda reloaded

it's been a year since you've been gone
the impact of your death not as strong
for time indeed heals all wounds
though some get healed way too soon

i wrote of you then as world keened on
shocked that you were pointless gone
the depth of purpose for each anew
brought to forefront of universal view

again i come back to you, witness death
Abbas went away then to breathe on breath
but never your life can be fled or freed
maybe pointless isn't pointless we must cede

Neda

We don't know how the story ends
not even our chapter, just done, period.

She lays on the street and looks at me
the camera sees the futility of it.

I wonder what was going through her mind
in those few minutes after she'd been shot

did she know the jig, was she a bystander
to her own end, dispassionately watching

her life dripped into the street
as the worldly camera pixilates the scene.

right eye fixed, blood is all that's left
warm on her face the sun shown above

does Allah will this? Who's God anyway?

The Fallen

The Fallen, by gsmonks

"Stand your ground!" their leader thundered,
As they bled in foreign land.
"Give your all, or Freedom's sundered!
"To the last we'll make our stand!"

Eerily the with doth sigh, now,
Through the grass upon the plain;
In their quiet graves they lie now,
Sullen is the falling rain.

Small, the child is, bright sou'westered,
In her hand a wilted flower;
Gone, her father's presence shielding,
There's no solace for this hour.

Still, the air, like angels list'ning,
Nor to speak, nor for to breathe,
Waiting vainly for an answer,
Yet no Word doth He bequeath.

Wordlessly the stricken girl-child
Takes her mother's nerveless hand.
Soon these flowers have departed,
Victims of this fallen land.

Arg?!

Curse you, evil link, for leading me to another page
Curse you for losing my work
Curse you for depriving me the taste of satisfaction!

Oh jeez, I'm sorry. I'm sorry for cursing you, Link.

I know this isn't your fault.

I know, I was excited. It was pretty hot stuff, after all.

It's just that... I'm sitting here, in the dark, my imagination is running wild.. my fingers too, apparently!

It's the touchpad, really. This wasn't your fault, it was mine. And I can admit that. You're not so bad.. Actually, I kind of like you.

Oh Link, let's forget this ever happened. Forgive me?

If my memory serves me well, perhaps I'll come visit you again tomorrow, and you can help me write it all over again?

But, I think I'll be filing this one under 'Loss' instead of 'Love'. Surely, you understand..

nature of loss

to look at an image of past years
and to grieve
to see the smiling faces intently
and to grieve
oh, the selfish humanity of it all
to grieve
what a sad thing memory is, to know
and to grieve
the time will come, we know not when
grief is gone
and what remained is gone too...
grieve again

Phantom Prince

some are born without a soul
without a heart
but they watch and learn
how to mimic us
they 'feel' you out
your weaknesses attract them
like a delible mark on
your forehead
you look into their
mesmerizing eyes
so full of emotion..
see the tears?
their suave, practiced entrance
flowers to impress
phantom prince..
you've got it down good
the right words..the feigned sweetness..
right to the compassion and loving
it was good for you for awhile
rather you pretended it was good..
so many lies, so much cheating,
narcisstic creature you surely are
no remorse, not a care,
you threw us away like so much garbage
walking away without a glance
breaking hearts, destroying lives,
taking everything with you..
leaving us so alone, so broken..
i've tried so hard to climb out of
this dark pit of despair
angry at myself for being so bloody gullible!
they say move on..
move on to where? to what?
when you left it feels like we ceased to exist
there's noone now phantom prince..
just me and the girls and memories
better forgotten

Incident on Raple Road

You're a fire fly
of tiny broken bones
Fire works in February
Left with out a sanctuary
and the street lights
have lit up Raple Road

The neighborhood is tucked in bed
Where you once laid your head
is a snow angel
in snow flakes of glass
Cuts in our ears
where we heard the crash

If you find you can't get home
Lost but not alone
I will walk with you
Together we can find
what we don't know we're looking for

The fire

Late at night,
By candle light,
My writings caught fire,
It gave me a fright,
I awoke in a crazed half drunken daze,
Staring at flames burning page after page,
The blaze was amazing but it didnt phase me,
I watched it for maybe a minute or two,
Unsure exactly of what I should do,
Call it a game and say "I am through"?
The longer I waited the more the flame grew,
Its true at the end we all must face death,
But I'm not going out like that...not yet,
Half boredom half regret,
The yellow-orange glow gorgeous like a sunset,
I extinguished the blaze,
like a cigarette in an ash tray...

"Inferno" Tribute Part 7

My plans turned thus

to disarray,

relying on

these solid walls.

To beat and bash

my brains on in

until no longer

could I feel a thing.

As I thrashed

into the wall,

something evil

did unfold.

My head went through

the scarlet surface

peering into an even darker nothing.

Upon my attempted retrieval,

the hole I entered

proved to be smaller.

So stuck was I

as in roughly

fashioned stocks.

my body in comfort,

my head in nothing.

Screamed as I could,

screamed as I might,

no soul out there

could ease my plight.

As in life, when

I seemed to be

beyond faith,

beyond hope,

I did rely

on what

I could find

to free me

from an

unseen bind.

Yet every such step

I undertook

estranged me further

from my group.

So now, as I

try to hide,

hide from the pain,

hide from my ghosts,

my actions had

imprisoned me,

condemned to

this abysmal fate

of anonymity.

Thus, I warn you all,

you pleasure seekers,

wayward souls and

devil's soldiers,

live a life of moderation,

balance and toleration.

Embrace all things, else

you have been warned

to suffer here

as fate allows.

"Inferno" Tribute Part 5

No further ahead

could I go.

This was my fate,

'twas mine alone.

I walked inside,

to my surprise,

no demons here

or bodies fried.

There was a couch

of emerald shade

dotted in scarlet,

striped in gold.

The walls of red-violet,

flowered with care,

with no one else

I seemed to share.

The lighting was

antiquated at best:

wall candles lit

beyond my grasp.

All this stood

on carpet mauve.

Behind me slammed

the only door,

sealed in prison

ever more.

At first, all seemed

a luxury.

I was happy,

I was whole.

But then it started

to dawn on me,

why no one else

could I see.

Indeed I was

wholly alone;

stranded here

on my own.
