gone so soon

I never thought it would end this way
If I had a chance i would ask God could u stay
We always had our ups and down
But at the end of the day we both came around
U was born Sept 6 I was proud of the blessing that God had sent to me
I never thought my son wouldnt live to c 23
At the end of his life my son knew his plan
He wasnt scared to die that when I saw my son become a man
He said in his own words mom dont let them doctors tell u that he would be alright
He raise up and said God was waiting on him and he saw the light
As a parent you should never have to bury a son as a child u planned all his goals but one thing my son said before he died at least the devil didnt get his soul.
So i say to him son REST IN PEACE u lived a short life u left me last yr sept twenty three

DEATH

DEATH-----
WE THINK ABOUT YOU EVERYDAY
WE SEE YOU IN SOMEONES SMILE OR WAVE
WE SEE YOU IN ARE PHOTOGRAFES
IT MAKES US MISS YOUR LITTLE LAUGH
WE STOP AND THINK YOUR DEATH NOT REAL
I TRY SO HARD TO SMELL YOUR SMELL
I TRY TO THINK HOW YOUR SKIN DID FEEL
YOUR DEATH STILL DONT FEEL REALLY REAL
WE COMFORT EACH OTHER NIGHT AND DAY
IN HOPES ARE GREIF WILL GO AWAY
BUT THEN HERE GOES THOSES FEELING
ALL OVER AGAIN
YOUR LIFE WITH US WILL NEVER END
YOU'LL STAY RIGHT HERE IN ARE MINDS AND HEART'S
YOUR MEMORYS FROM US WILL NEVER DEPART
THESE ARE JUST THOUGHTS IAM HAVING OF YOU
I JUST THOUGHT ID WRITE DOWN A LINE OR TWO
I JUST REALLY LOVE AND MISS YOU
IAM JUST SAYING YOUR DEATH
FOR ME, WAS REALLY HARD TO GET THROUGH

Prison

Here I sit inside these walls
A prison not of my making
I stare out through shuttered bars
The world revolves around me

All you see is a broken shell
My chin has drool dribbling
There is no way you I can tell
Inside this shell here is me

One minute my life was great
The next a bullet did end it
So here I sit now a broken man
And no-one knows I'm in here

We'll say no 'goodbyes'.

If thou loved, then love's not lost,
despite the breath that's ceased to be.
Fond oceanic joys secure the memory,
although on grief-stricken seas toss'd,
earth's soft pillow cradles thy noble head
and calms the storm that tormented thee.
Now, a life retraced shall immortal be,
in sweet silence that around thee spread,
tho' sad-eyed tears count the cost.
Courage with stronger heart may say
to heaven; we've given the best of day,
where love's love shalt ne'er be lost,

Thus to redeem from oblivion e'er we will
remembered years, bathed in sunlight still.

Never want to stop hoping

Every once in awhile
When I’m feeling down and low
I call your old phone number
In hopes that heaven reconnects your phone
My heart hurts a little more each time
The operator answers

I’m gonna keep calling just in case
You ever decide to pick up the phone

Oh sweet lady
Where have you gone?
I need your comforting words
And your careless laugh

Times are getting harder
I need your advice
Something mom and dad wouldn’t understand
There’s so much more that I wanted you to see
I’ve come this far in life

Damn it hurts so much
I really wish that you were still here with me

Please pick up the phone
Life would be so much easier if you had a answering machine
I would leave you my new number
And say ‘come on grandma look at the new me’
Never want to stop hoping.

Shadow

Do angels cry?
Do shadows fly?
far away from today, tomorrow and yesterday..
and can we really say,
we know the figure that shadows us along our way?
Until the day my shadow and I become one, but only in heavens light can this be done..

As I Lie Dying (A Different Look)

As the sun slowly sinks so my life sinks with it
All my dreams, my hopes, my life long ambitions
They are all gathered around me to give comfort
I have no gold or money, no wealth amassed
My wealth is my family giving love to the last
I curse not for time taken away from me
But I give thanks to the last for this life
This life of love and goodness all around
There is a sadness that I must leave my beloved family
But I know that they are all in good hands
They will look out for each other at all times
Already I can feel the angels gathering to guide me home
And peace settles around my barely beating heart
It is at these last moments of life I see my family
As the last breath of life slips from my body
I can see the angels rushing to collect me

The lonely boy (WWII)

There is something in the sky,
And I'm asking myself Why?
Seeing the light so dim,
Standing on the grass with my hands so firm.

There is something in the horizon,
And it looks somewhat like a mizen
There is a big fleet,
letting out a lot of heat.

Running away from my fears
just like the deer
Locking myself up in a room,
sharing my space with half a broom.

I want to sleep
but there is no heap.
I felt like going to the shore,
but i cant for there is war.

An Ode ToMy Friend And Boss

I LOST MY FRIEND THE OTHER DAY,
HE JUST SILENTLY SLIPPED AWAY
FROM THE FETTERS OF THIS LAND -
- BUT - THAT WAS THE MANNER OF THIS MAN.

I VALUE ALL THE TIME WITH HIM,
I FELT A KINDSHIP DEEP WITHIN.
WE THOUGHT ALIKE IN MANY WAYS
WE LEARNED,WE TAUGHT ,
I LOVED THOSE DAYS.

THERE NEVER WAS A WORD OF IRE,
WITH ME AT LEAST,WHILE IN HIS HIRE,
OF ALL,HE WAS MY FAVORITE BOSS
AND NOW HE'S GONE,IT'S SUCH A LOSS.

I NEVER HEARD HIM BRAG OR BOAST
THOUGH HE HAD REASON, MORE THAN MOST,
A QUIET GENIUS TO THE END,
OH GOD, I MISS MY FRIEND.

I wrote this poem a number of years ago in tribute to a man who was not only my boss but also my friend. He was a quiet genius in electronics and one of the earliest developers of cable TV. At one time he owned 9 systems in 4 states. Since this is Memorial Day I thought it fitting to post my poem.

I AM

In an instant
The world turns on a dime
Back where it started
Staring, thru time

How far i have come
and yet
I remain true

It doesnt matter
What others may think
My strength wells from within

Strong will
Strong spirit
I am
