Death of a Sunflower

In life, he stood resolute
Trying in vain, or so we thought, but he did not, to outshine the sun
His brightness shocked me each chance I had to look at him
He reached upward, as if to say, I can outgrow, the sun too
But sadly, he was visited by mortality and his colors faded
He started to droop, he lost his tall stance
His petals curled and dried, turning brittle
And when I saw him again, I pitied him and shed a tear.

But in death, he moved me more than he did in life, for he stayed.
We pulled him from the pot, but there he stood upon the stairs
Just begging, throw me away, I am spent

But alas, I did not have the strength to grant that wish
And years later, there he still sat upon those purple stairs
Until the very day we moved away.
He could still be there, sitting, waiting, in his delay

Hoping these photos work

About this poem:
Ok, so, about 3 years ago dad and I grew this big gorgeous sunflower. I was almost blinded when I looked at it, but like most flowers, he didn't stay that bright, and slowly died. His stem, seed pod, and leaves still remained as he sat on the stairs and every day I told myself how much I felt sorry for him, and how I'd write a poem about him. Well, it's 3 years later, better late than never eh?

Where Angels never die

Father I miss you,the tears I couldn't hold back as I leaned over to kiss you.Knowing you were near death,I could only stand watching, weeping,as you took your last breath. My mood,my world all turned black. The anger I felt, just wanted more time, wanted you back.My love for life died with you,my heart,my soul, now painted blue. The years that have passed, this hurt,it lasts and lasts.Time doesnt heal all wounds, the pain I feel, the anger still looms. You were my mentor, always my hero.Listen to me now, this thing I know.It cant take away the pain, and sometimes I still cry,but even though you have made your way to Heaven,I will always hold you in my heart, this place, where Angels never die......

Your Grieving Heart

Your Grieving Heart

When you first meet your grief
Do not expect to feel any relief,
It is a wild animal that devours
Your heart and soul for endless hours.

Do not attempt to stay the beast,
But let it enjoy it's evil feast,
While you feel it's teeth that tear
At your heart for the love you bear.

Never give in to the urge to die,
To hurt the one for whom you cry,
For death does not stop its bite,
It has no thoughts of wrong or right.

Don't try to evade or keep it inside,
Scream,shout,but you can not hide,
But talk to Jesus,he's by your side;
Let Him hold you as you confide.

For reasons mortals can not know,
A loved one sometimes must go,
While we spend our time below
Learning to reap just what we sow.

But eternity awaits with endless love,
When your number is called above,
So know our time is a flash in a fire,
But belief in his word fills every desire.

Is This How You Feel

Is This How You Feel

Your life has been totally turned around,
Hope and sanity are not to be found,
The world has turned you upside down
And your best smile is a heavy frown.

Your heart has been turned inside out,
All that mattered is now covered in doubt,
For life's meaning has been hidden away,
Your very essence is what's gone to stay.

Now you may stop and ask what can I do,
For life has no meaning,it's torn in two,
Then a still small voice says to look about,
There are still small children with no way out.

That voice is saying your love can still grow,
If you step back from yourself you will know,
That to help any child to find his own way
Is the path that will lead you home some day.

So believe this now, that someone above
Is showering your child in unending love,
So why can't you invest your love in a child,
To see the wondrous face of one beguiled.

Forget Me Never

Forget Me Never

No,you will not miss me forever
And you will forget me never,
For we will unite on Heaven's shore,
Where we will know parting no more.

So be at peace all you poor souls
For it is written on ancient scrolls,
Eternal life is from the great I AM,
For those who follow His holy Lamb.

The world has forgotten the crime,
Trapped in Satan's web of time,
Where sorrow is his fiery whip
And all are aboard a burning ship.

Believe in Him and His holy Word,
Not the lies you've surely heard,
For as souls depart and reunite,
A new star in Heaven will ignite.

There Is A Rainbow

I know there is a rainbow for me to follow, to get beyond my sorrow. Thunder precedes the sunlight, so I'll be all right if I can find that rainbow's end. - Mariah Carey, "Rainbow"
(Inspired by the above)

There Is A Rainbow

I know there is a rainbow to follow
To find and get beyond my sorrow,
For to grieve long is to wallow
Without a brighter day tomorrow.

As thunder precedes the sunlight,
Finding the end of that rainbow,
Will let me be again alright
To reap what the Lord would sow.

As the sun journeys into night,
In dreams I meet my loved one,
And as we embrace so tight,
I whisper,"when my day is done".

It is there far beyond the sun
Where His promises are kept,
For following the Father's Son,
Will awaken those who slept.

The Statue ( Cemetery by the Ga Univ. Stadium )

THE STATUE
I got a glimpse of a statue off in the distance,
Gave me a sense of remorse and love unfulfilled,
It was something in her stance,
That made you look deep into her eyes so stilled.

So much so, that I stopped and turned,
For within that moment I yearned,
Another glimpse of this form,
That had my mind so curiously torn.

What had happened to this young woman?
Why the look of sadness and despair?
And then when I walked around the headstone.
I could see why she was carefully placed there.

She was only seventeen,
And died many, many years ago,
And as I read the plack I could understand the scheme,
Of the artists purpose to design her completely so.

She was engaged to marry the man of her dreams.
And before he returned from war,
It was not the future as it seems
For news of his death left her heart so torn.
Her death was quick for she became sick and lovelorn.

There are those who can repair.
A love so lost and gone.
But her statue gave an aire.
Of the love she desperately longed.

For some can go on living.
And place their love within a box.
A box that has no love for giving.
And live a life to never find the lock.

So in her eyes you feel the sense of mourning.
That can not be undone.
For she carried a love so pure and adoring,
to another world we find above.

About this poem:
I pulled out this picture of a beautiful young woman who was made from her picture as a statue after her death in the early 1900's. The sculptor made her taller than her real life but she was beautiful, and you had to go behind a huge marble wall to walk up to her ... it was unusual but get photography..so I pulled out this picture of her and wrote an imaginary poem.

My Angels

Time after time we live through the years
We gather our thoughts and take them through
And we never fear
We gracefully pray to god and ask
Always forgiveness
We make mistakes but only to learn from them
As we grow old
As life goes on we make it our path
To love to give to be all as we were made to be
We all share a gift a gift of faith
You all take a part in life to give others the strength
The strength to share a part of ones love
We all gather together not just for sadness
But for the love of one
Look into each other’s eyes and there you will find
An angel
An angel to guide you through all the darkest nights
To look over every one of you and give you the gift of light
The gift of knowing that all lives within your hearts

" It was only a dream but it seemed so real"

Seems like only yesterday,
We were like brothers.
You were bigger than me,
Always watching out for me,
Protecting me from the others.

Meeting you here seems so real,
Im sorry that its the only way.
I fold my hands and close my eyes,
Oh my friend can this be true?

Lets go watch the sun come up,
Then ride in a shopping cart through town.
Lets go to the lake and catch some fish.
I'll ask mom if i can stay at your house tonight.

I dont want this time to end,
It just seems so real.
I wish that I could stay asleep
It may be years before we're here again.

If only I could have reached you.
if only I could have understood.
How important you were to me.
Then we wouldnt have to meet this way.

When they told me that they found you .
Im glad I did not go.
To see your life wasted on the ground,
You were my Hero,my friend I can never,
Ever let go.I have to go now.I have to wake up.
This has got to be real....Good bye old friend .....
Man I dont want to go to work today....
Any day but today.

Alone

Just relized I've been in this dance solo,
since you let go of me I've felt way too low.

I've learned to work around lifes curves myself,
while you turned your back, insulted me, but i grew stronger.

Mad and out characther when your presence wasn't there,
but by that you taught me to be more aware.

For now I know how it feels how to be hurt straight like a chum,
thanks for your own dose of karma soon to came
