Remember Gram

I think of an apple-cheeked old lady
Skin as smooth and pink as any schoolgirl
Home cooking that cure any malady
A black straw sailor’s hat and string of pearls

Doing dishes always with apron slung
No words of gossip from your lips would sling
Pointing out our shortcomings terse words flung
But ready chuckle took away their sting

You hated flies above all things unclean
A steady fly swatter was your scepter
Angels best keep their wing feathers well preened
And keep the pearly gates all aglitter

Might the path leading away from the past
Be always swept clean right after breakfast

Fairy Tail

I want to live in a fairy tale,
to love to be loved,
to know that someone
is waiting for me at home.
I want to live with love,
I know I have it
somewhere in the world,
waiting for me to find her.
I want to live in a painting
to be a beautiful,
which every day for me,
someone painted with beautiful colors.
to live fairy tale
one and every day to be a surprise.
I want to believe in love,
in the sun sets and beautiful Moon,
I'd like shared fantasy
to become a shared dream.

Minutes in Memoriam

Milky shower clouds obscure my visage;
a product of my father's father's father.
Anxiously I swipe the folds of cotton terry
sweeping away the opaque reflection,
revealing genetic threads running in lines on my face.

The pungence of lye soap slick with clay
blooms from the cup and the puck
scrubbed with tawny handled hair
as I lather up a memory only ever imagined,
to explore a chore as never done before.

Dry, faded black horn scales once polished-
Now ridged and bitten pivot slowly in my hand.
And the Sheffield steel heirloom lazily stretches,
no better for the long attic hibernation
but virile nonetheless.

Recently run across hone and stone,
its gleaming smile greets me glinting incandescence.
The strip of hanging Russian shell awaits
to caress and burnish a naked blade,
keening the edge for a new day's work.

My face now foamed with lather anticipates
some precious minutes in memoriam
as the ritual begins to conjure up the past;
as though breaking and appeasing an emotional fast,
savoring a small slice of my great Grandfather's life.

Music Box Ballerina

Ballerina caged upon your dancefloor
Hoping there could be so much more
But making the best of who you are
Do dance with such abandon and candor
You dream to be a real woman someday
I dream to be in your world so far away
So simple, so carefree, no distractions
Please let me dance with you for a fraction
Let me in and sit as your soul unfolds
Let the bonds of reality relax their hold
As I enter in and you began to breath
We will always be what the other needs

About this poem:
I'm sure a porcelin ballerina would like to be human
for at least a while and people sometimes need a safe
and carefree fantasy world to ease their stress.

~Shades of Gray ~

Please don't let them poison you.
cheat and lie and make a crook of you..
Don't sell your soul..
Hold out for what you know, and what you believe..
There are children in your future and
cats and dogs and everything...

But right now you're throwing it all away..
for a wreckless game of russian roullete..
This is not the world you would have chosen
But sometimes you have to bite the bullet
And just suck it up and stay
Sometimes you have to cash in your chips
And let the cards fall where they may,,,

Don't let them lead you where you arent prepared to go..
You used to make up your own rules you used to steal the show..
There is nothing, you ever wanted that you could not attain..
You held the world in the palm of your hands and you can again..

Toss away your licence to kill..
you'll be killing everything..
You ever wanted.. portrayed and flaunted
Nothing left to win, nothing left to gain..

But disease and decay
Oh you'll come back again,.
sink and fall again..
but you are going
to be ok..

For as the sky turns dark and cloudy,
A bitter shade of grey...
Sunlight filters through blackened skies,
And takes the pain away..

And the rain comes down, and it cleanses everything..
And in the new day,
when it dawns on you,
gives you reason to stay..

And it will shake you up, and wake you up..
Melt all your fears away..

And you're gonna be ok..
Yeh you're gonna be ok,,
Just hang in there one more day..
One more day..
Banish clouds of grey.

Baggage

Twould it be so easy to not look back
Fly forward stretching for the finish line
Leaving behind the baggage of the past
Could I just let go if I were inclined

Embracing one another holding close
Soon warmth turns to fire spreading throughout limbs
Flame covering burning to nothingness
All is silent as the bright light goes dim

Door knob in one hand baggage in other
I know I would be nothing without you
Hugging close as if we are but the one
If I go then you must come with me to

Baggage that I carry has carried me
In essence it is the person you see.

Dream

Last night I dream about a dream about you
Didn’t know how and why it had to be about you
Last time I saw you was three years ago
But still in my dreams you linger oh

I asked myself all these questions
“How did you happen?”
“Where’d you come from”
And “why are you happening with me”?

That dream I dreamt felt so real
A beautiful sweet kiss from me you steal
Your soft lips had a very special feel
But that all ended, oh well..

Now I’m asking all these questions
“Why did you have to happen
"Why did you have to come in sight”
Pinch me, I don't wanna dream about you again tonight.

Internet Person

Through endless void of cyberspace
I see your typed out words
Never knowing your true form face
Often wondering if I'm just being absurd
by guessing who or what you really are
From what planet you're from or what distant star..

Sometimes you state you are nearby
Turns out you're in some distant place
Asking me to book an airline ride so you can really fly
Luring me in to just another endless chase
Leaving me to wonder who or what you really are
From what planet you're from or what distant star..

A Journey - Kickit's Challenge

A thousand steps
Walking a crooked fence
A journey back in time
Was so young, can't believe
So much older now

A thousand steps
Walking a crooked fence
She was so young and pretty
Said our vows in a country church
Our love will last forever

A thousand steps
Walking a crooked fence
Older grew and children had
Apart we slowly drifted
Living life is what happened to us

A thousand steps
Walking a crooked fence
Now all I feel is sorrow
Looking back I see mistakes
Too late for any changes

A thousand steps
Walking a crooked fence
The future ahead stretches
Weary I am of this life
There's a thousand more steps to end it

Promise Of Christmas

You made outdoors Thy temple, Lord, to fit our simple prayer
So Christmas time may touch the hearts of all men everywhere
With thine own brand of mercy, human kindness and the best
Of good old freedom feelings that we hold here in the West.

Please don't let any hearts feel hopeless, Lord, no matter who they are
Please help them look up for comforts to the promise of the star
I ask no special favors, Lord, except to hope you'll bless
The friends, kith and kin, whom we hold dear, with Christmas happiness.
