~man in black~

Coccaine flowed as johnny yuma came to town
night turned to day while his pillow lay in dreams
body in black veil, he was a man's, man
a rebel at heart, on two feet took his stand.

His voice rode his music
from the road to your town
on the stage, into vinyl
golden legend, he was bound.

Tires were always past the edge of the road
mind full of words, to vinyl download
as Johnny Yuma became the man of his time
living his life as he did, "Walk the line".

fictional practice 1972

as I sit here diggin on you as you sleep
bounty of memory slowly slips into mind
when we first got together, oh those were the days
I didn't know then, you were one of a kind
recall a time we were parked in your car
ere morning before work that day
we fiercely tore to one another
and we were truely lovin away....
good way to pass the time 'fore workin'
but we were also dragon smokin'
nutritional way to start the day
bit of laced ganja..heavy tokin'
we heard a sound, opened our eyes
what is this? hello? a surprise!
in shock, we learned what caused all the fuss
a black and white was right behind us
(looking back, good thing we were in the nude)
for the cop checking out our car wasn't rude
was uncomfortable, appeared to be blushing
luckily didn't seem to want to be rushing
we had a chance to clear the air
nothin' left layin' out to cause care
our clothes were all in disarray
what we had on, that is to say
he asked "what are you two doing here?"
"we're waiting for the store
to open
as we both are employees there"
(officer, please go away, we're hopin'...)
mumbling something incoherent
turned his back and away he went
and as the copper drove away
I clearly heard my baby say
now don't let him ruin our day
we've still got ten minutes to play
was then I grinned and turned her way
and yes, it was
what I was hopin'
her arms and her lips
and her smile
were open

long strange trip

well, I can definitely feel it
though it's entry into my system is a mystery
shouldn't be long until morning dew glist
begins to appear and inspire, as genesis
I'm certainly removed from where I was, a while ago
suddenly I can walk atop a one inch wide picket fence
of course, god walks along side
everything is clear
all processes of the universe have been captured
thanks to "Bear", or because of him
owsley's white lightning was a creation
that created creation at the drop of a drop
first recognized by albert hofmann
at sandoz labs in 1943
which is at present a part of BASF
stanley's diet was meat, eggs, butter and cheese
no carbo guy he, all vegetables...toxic !
I don't suggest that you should buy in
unless one relishes altered consciousness
relativity turned on it's edge
this experience leads one to question reality
as they know it
possibly merely crosses into a branch of insanity
anyone can climb up there
but can they get back down?
here on the ground
with the rest of us
in our real altered reality...

pondering

waiting patiently
living day by day
learning
watching
waiting
getting old with time
memories
memories affect my mind
yesterday
yesterday was years ago
full of love
ego ,inspiration
exploration ,intimidation
life was good
revelation ,innovation
music
friendships ,disorder
dancing and heartbreak
heartbreak
sharper than any blade
that girl took my heart
killed my soul
i was buried humble and broken
memories
made me stronger
lifted me out my emotional grave
no hate
spiritual frustration
fighting ,searching ,praying
for understanding
to God my memories levitate

About this poem:
My birthday is coming up so I was looking back from my birth in 1969 to the end of my favorite decade of music, the 80's. The only song I'm not a fan of is The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. If I were forced to pick my favorite from the list it would be When Doves Cry by Prince, with Every Breath You Take by The Police being a close second. Right now my favorite album is Weird Al's new album Mandatory Fun. He is a parody artist and I own all 14 of his albums.

Memory Lane.

Long years ago, I with joy remember,
when I met a man in his late December,
tho' his gait was slow, yet eyes shone bright
that conveyed an air of sheer delight,
defied the later chapter of his age,
intuitive his heart burnt bright ablaze,
I then, to this world quite new,
he by age, a sprightly ninety two,
with thoughtful prose, he in wisdom talked
whilst we awhile together walked,
Said he,"Listen well to this vast world,
then, the music of its spheres Heaven unfurl,
treat this planet and all therein that dwell
with honour, a magic cadence, then reveals its spell,
stay ever close to nature's abundant spirit,
for the jewels of live revolve within it,
respect your fellow beings unique individuality,
'tis the building blocks of Man's integrity,
relish shared toils, it's labour you'll find
will benefit the brotherhood of mankind,
culture honest, no false idols there implant,
well being of the mind, forever sacrosanct",
So know ye well,
the web of life, has not been woven by mankind,
we are but a single thread within you'll find,
what error we do to this fragile structure
is self-destructing and by tatters will rupture,
we're part of a garment, knitted tightly together,
united bound, the storms of life to weather.

Wheels

WHEELS

Turning on my youth’s cycle, no cars in sight
no computers, no spacemen, no Aids fright.
Turning on the Clydeside cranes, in the mills
and in the shops cheaper unreceipted tills.
Turning only once on the surface of The Pit,
The Bing, The Pond, the bonfires we lit.
Turning on the second finger of my first wife
lasting no longer than a sliced cake’s life.
Turning on the steamer to a new honeymoon
true love this time, but don’t speak too soon.
Turning slowly on twin hearses all traffic stop,
now no more winding of the mantelpiece prop!
Turning on the ticket style, up there again
and on this strangers long southbound train.
Turning on the black taxi that gets me here
to a new home that brings on a clannish tear.
Turning forever inside my heart and my head
tender thoughts of loved ones already dead!
Turning continually on my life’s Meccano set,
soon it will be my turn, but not just yet.
Turning on the memories of ‘just yesterday’
they weren’t really, it just seems that way.
Turning my head when a voice calls “Dad”
helping me forget the failures I’ve had!

About this poem:
A bing is a coal slag heap!
The mantelpiece prop was my parent's clock which my Dad wound every day!
This was my second and last time leaving Scotland hence:
'up there again'

SWEET HOME IRELAND

A place where I have never been,
ancient stone castles stand
and cattle roam the rolling hills
of this blessed fertile land.

She’s ever present in my dreams,
the beckoning voice I hear,
that whispers though the pounding surf
though a heartbeat in my ear.

I only know this restlessness
would ne’er again haunt me,
could I stand upon the high cliffs
which face the Celtic Sea.

I know I’d weep just once to see
the lakes of Killarney gleam;
to delight in Erin’s wonders
and her forty shades of green.

The ravages of bygone wars -
such tales have long remained.
People of spirit, pride and grace,
healed a land usurped and strained.

If dreams are all I’m meant to have
then content I’ll have to be,
knowing somewhere in the past,
Ireland was the breath of me.

About this poem:
After 35 years of longing for Ireland, I went there in 2006 and spent 10 glorious days. I was overjoyed when that plane landed and when it came time to leave, I felt my heart had been torn out. The connection I feel is very strong. I got to see the Lakes of Killarney gleam, and every delight Ireland has to offer. I would go again in a heartbeat. Blessings!~

1000 mask

You treat me like a queen
Flowers, chocolate, and poetry
But it was the beginning of a drama which had witnessed

How there was no choice
I see your face a thousand
You're burning my ears with a variety of voice

I finally realized that you like being swallowed dream
Red green and yellow are now beginning Wherever declared
Under the light I can see you
That you're just a person with 1000 masks

You change your name as quickly as pleasure,
You reply pobud different seduction
By stupid I received with a distinguished face
Oohh .. fascinated me

A Solitary Teardrop

She sat huddled up in fleecy blanket
shaking and trembling, mutters to her self
it has not yet sunk in, this painful loss
that sears her breaking heart with terrible grief

A solitary teardrop falling down

She thought of the fun and love they shared
the strolls they had shared in leafy woods
the way he had snuggled up close to her
his warm breath brushing her ear as they sleep

A solitary teardrop falling down

Over in the kitchen corner his bowls
along with a comfy bed seldom used
she needed to put them away out of sight
yet devastated she had little strength

A solitary teardrop falling down

She wished the tears would flow healing her
yet though they trembled within her eye lids
she could not seem to release them but they stung
just one escaped and rolled down her face

A solitary teardrop falling down
