seven years old
untapped talent
passion
even then
do you remember?
we met and
with every scale
i touched
88 generations of
my past
my future
they were all familiar
and loved me
as i loved them
with every chord
the whole world
became more faint
thundering applause
a whisper
never a desire
to return
my joy and comfort
with you
as you translate
to the world
the melodies of my heart
my soul
no dance
close and slow
fast and spaced
compares to
my dances with you
i reach for you
you receive me
welcome me
accept me
take whatever i give
and ask only
for a song
in return
you are not
forgotten
life's pain
despair
lonliness
bitterness
never held me
you never let me go
my old, dear friend
my piano

I hear the distant echo
of a song I knew before,
it hovers o'er the river
I swam in days of yore,
when enclosed me only sunshine
and all the world was mine,
'fore penury got its grip on me
in the dark'ning veil of time
I hear the distant echo
of a song I knew before,
it plays in attic treasure chests
my mind loved to explore,
when diamond chips and pirate ships
abounded on the main,
'fore my childhood dreams cried mutiny
now no mystery remains
I hear the distant echo
of a song I knew before,
it swings on oak tree pendulums
I tied before the war
'tween a young boy's dreams of flying
and an old man's hopes of dying,
and with time's speed multiplying
'til the clock tic tocs no more
I hear the distant echo
of a song I knew before,
so I'll ramble on
and sing my song
and regard not nevermore

Michael Jackson
I saw you in a video yesterday
I'm sorry you were picked on by your dad and your brothers
If they had left you alone then you might not have cut up your face
You looked just fine the way you were
I remember your chimp named Bubbles
I guess adult chimps are too dangerous to have around so he had to go
You couldn't go out without being mobbed by fans
I'm a fan and I would know that you just need your space and I'd leave you alone
But so many people live their lives vicariously through their idols
So they pay large amounts of money to be near them
I don't need that kind of excitement
I enjoy you most when I sing to your songs in my car
That's better than any concert
So I hope you have been having fun in heaven
Teaching Jesus how to moonwalk and riding your own Zipper amusement ride

Sitting here behind my window,
watching the anger of the rain
pelting down as if in pain.
The wind doing its best
to blow it over the hills
to the forest in the west.
My latter years spent pondering
sitting here watching the world go by.
Memories pouring as fast
as the rain, into my brain.
Had it all been worthwhile?
Such negative thoughts for me,
myself, always full of new adventures.
Had I enjoyed this ride?
I can only say, there is more to come.
So cannot truthfully answer.
As the rain pelts down,
cleaning my windows,
giving me a clearer view.

I remember my happy childhood
Protecting wild animals and sowing seeds of brazilian wood
Now and here, at the Highlands, my personal exile
i am not able to express any smile...
Far from the native Nature
Facing urban traps in spite of being more mature
Am i losing my roots? Perhaps...

Must be like the Whatipu rave!
I'm sure it was
Such a forgotten but longing of the natural buzz
Crooked Weta's and the Glow Worm scene
a land beyond time
Come see and feel, just what I mean
Of innocent played, an open door
fears you may, grab that oar
Bats! more bats!
Hanging posers of the moonlight
An insaciable hunger
so timely
that the crawling eyes
look and feel
Such sweet berries of deepest vein thirst
what ever could be a worst
Within a breath all blew away
there will be
No death today
An untouched land
in many ways
Haere Mai
Come out to the plays

Sometimes I hear a song playing on the radio it takes me back to a time of yesteryear.
When I had the whole world ahead of me. And plans as big as the sea.
I thought all those plans were going to be wrote in stone.
Little did I know what life had in store for me.
I can't say I haven't enjoyed the roads I have traveled.
I have lived many life's in this life time of mine.
But I can say I miss some of the roads I know I will never cross again.
I use to think all the time.
Don't know how I would get in so much trouble with all that thinking.
I have seen so much.
Learned so much and loved so hard.
I never knew how heart rendering this life could be.
Thank you God thru it all you loved me.
When I was young and starting out you would have never thought I would be the woman I grew into.
But in life if nothing else I have learned one does what one has to do.
And my conscious was the dictator of what I had to do.
I am sorry for the pain I have caused others.
I wish I could say that statement was not true.
That I have never caused pain.
I have seen first breaths being taken by new born babes.
I have seen the last breaths taken by those going home.
I have felt so loved and so alone.
Sometimes I have felt them both at the same time.
I have never felt the need to push myself or my opinions on another.
I have also never let people push theirselfs or their opinions on me.
I have always known right from wrong.
No matter what I decided to do I knew.
Now here I am with so much behind me.
Wondering what is left to be.
It reminds me of something I heard before.
The best is yet to come.
And with all the wisdom I have gained.
I know it will not come till I am ready to recieve.
I also know if I had of refused the pain.
My life would have not been the happy one I see.

Wholesome was that time
Of blissful serenades amidst celestial hosts,
When saintly scents filled the air,
Crystal waters kissed my feet,
Blessed bowels; eternity without wheat,
Fragrance of love pervading the atmosphere
Like incense from an ereless Eden.
Cherubs ascending softly,
Divine opulence cascading through,
Immortals brim with the holiest essence.
I lay atop a vivacious tigress
Relishing the coziness of her feline fur.
Golden trails; unrivalled scenario of beauty,
Valleys littered with dazzling diamonds,
A place so pacific,
Freedom's fortress; therein lies eternal bliss...
But suddenly, my mother screamed…
Afraid and confused; I struggled,
Kicking and crying
I came into this hellish-paradise.

About this poem:
This poem is also a reflection of my life and the life of indeed all mortals. It is believed in many myths and legends across the world that pre-earth experience is blissful, especially as evidenced from the life of the foetus. It is also believed that the expectation of every foetus is that the life outside the womb represents freedom. Alas! They are fatally mistaken. Little wonder that newly born enter our world with crying. The same expectation also goes for most africans and Asians who flee their homelands in search of greener pastures in Europe and America. Sooner or later they found out that the presumed paradise was actually not as they thought. The lesson from this, it is hoped, is that man must take reponsibility for all his actions and seek to solve his problems as they arise and not to run away from them. God defends only the brave and patient - not the indolent.
