The Catch

Slowly crawling turning gracefully down
The box by the door waited beckoning
A moment in time passed without a sound
The time was here the time of reckoning

They came all of them huddled as if one
All so different yet all just the same
No going back no stopping at full run
Not caring if from happy or sad pain

Floating as if soaring by mighty wings
White the color of surrender or pure
What my eyes surrender what my eyes bring
Floating wings white touched my face with the cure

Dainty hand holding tightly the tissue
Catching tears as they fell was no issue

The Old Park Bench

The park bench calls to me
Old weathered wood with knots
Worn to silken smoothness from time
Inviting me to sit and share a moment
The green grass soothes my bare feet
Poking through my toes with tickling sensations
Moisture cooling the heat from within
Sending refreshing calm throughout me
Rustling branches of aged trees rattle
Weary with age yet standing firm and tall
Swaying in the rhythmic fashion of dancers
To the music of the wind, thick with humidity
Heavy thoughts bounce through my mind
Leaving a trail of pictures and memories
Yet none so clear, as those shared with you
Sitting here, on this old weathered bench

wind down

that indian, he ain't come to town
still, summer's started windin' down
you can feel it in the air some how
this season's seasoning, time to avow

do soldiers march with cadence strident?
as sure of battles outcomes provident
as time of Sol marches across the sky
another summer season spent, gone by

still, the warmth will linger a bit more
'til Earth's tilting a cooler guarantor
that winter will soon tag this autumn
and nights long flow slow as sorghum

quarterly, we divide our seasonal pie
to save and share and partake thereby
turning our waterwheel of milling time
to something fervent, meaningful, sublime

so, i fervently wish to take this opportune
today, to share this halcyon afternoon
with you alone, ok maybe a pet or two
i love this life, i love this day, i love you

Rivers of Life

Deep....where we fall in a well of consciousness
Drips...memories of happier times through my fingers
Splashes...the tears running out of my eyes like raindrops
Gurgles...the life blood through my veins
Sloshes...feelings I struggle to define in my brain
Bubbles...the froth from bitten lips that are in pain
Churns...the bitterness found in my angry stomach
Boils...the passion trapped in my eternal soul
Scolds...the pureness of gold from deep within me
Steams...all the trapped anger out of my vented ears
Soothes...this fever from my perspiring forehead
Flows...meandering words wrung from my mouth
Falls...a higher purpose to a lower and lonelier place
Springs...back from pressure once a heavy burden lifts
Rainbows...when our spirits rise to perfect heights
Sparkles...the clearness of my pool of love built for you
Shimmers...sun glistens sweat like dew on bare skin

A Sonnet to time

Yon lofty hills, dear lingering youth
when we climbed life"s sisphean slope,
amid tumbling rocks, yet, struggled on in hope,
now backward glance on labours oft uncouth,
each blind day, we green faith applied
upon the anvil of life's harsh forged sway,
each and every aching limb, relentlessly applied
the burning coals, to fire destinies unspoken play,
to climb the summits unattainable spoils,
such salad days, inspired by trackless spheres aloft,
passion filled, like as when, both lover and artist toils,
flew on wings, when life was green and soft,

yet despite the woes and destiny our present foe,
we sallied forth to Autumn's coloured glow.

Ice Crystal Droplets

Ice Crystal Droplets

Picturesque falling flakes of snow
Covering the world with their coating of whiteness

Icy etchings upon window panes of artistic splendor

Vibrant drifts of wonder cascading everywhere

Animated scenes of sculptured snowmen
Created by youths with resourceful imaginations

Sculptured rolled up balls of snow
decorated with youthful improvisation

Faces with buttons for eyes or sun glassed to protect their snowman from the sun's rays so he wouldn‘t melt so quickly

Sticks for arms & mouth, carrots for noses

An old knit hat to wear with a wrap around muffler scarf for his neck & of course don’t forget a broom in his mitten hand

Christmas Carolers could be heard singing in the icy cool air that Santa Claus would soon be there!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells … Dashing through the snow
"Ava Maria” - “O Tannenbaum”
"It Came Upon A Midnight Clear"

Santa is tuning up his sleigh at the North Pole
Polishing up it’s runners and feeding & grooming the reindeer before their Christmas adventurous trip around the world

Isn’t it marvelous what the thought of a little snowflake can do!

Tis Santa’s helper wishing to everyone on Connecting Singles

A Very Merry Christmas!

Salad Days

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----
Peel away the rotten apples that I sneezed out from my eyes
They will never be forgotten, but their infected by all those worms inside
The core was once the center of life, but now it has grown soft
As this baby has grown older and is no longer cute at all
Their skin is misbehaving and they leave an old fermenting smell
All the secrets they've been keeping I wonder what they would tell
As I dwell upon these memories, but there aren't any facts
Only counter intuitive directions mislead by simple acts
This apple is for my daughters and this one is for my friends
These are from my childhood memories, the ones I hoped would never end
And these are for my family here is my dear old mom and dad
I am still wishing for those moments, but they are never coming back
Now I sail away into oblivion, because there is nothing left inside
Just a little boy who loved to dream, but that part of me has also died

Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live.

Dandelion Dreams..

It was a beautifully gorgeous sundrenched spring day
I had the urge to get outside
to chase away the winter doldrums and mingle with the earth
and so I called to him , his eyes lit up at once
at the idea of frollicking on the lawn
Ah but there is work to be done I looked at him
and pointed downwards at the unsightly grass
if we are to have a lawn to play on we must
first dig up these unsightly yellow weeds
he looked bewildered as he gazed upon the earth
and at once he handed me a bouquet
and his face did shine with pride
I accepted this bouquet and looking into his eyes so blue
I accepted his gift of dandelions and suddenly I knew that
never again would I look at dandelions the same way.

Gilligans Island

Gilligan's Island
98 episodes
They got canceled after three seasons
Because Gunsmoke needed their time
They were moved around every season
But still rated at the top for their time slot
Tina Louise who played Ginger never came back
After the original three seasons
Alan Hale who played the Skipper loved the show the most
He always wore his Skipper cap
Even when he golfed
Dawn Wells who played Mary Ann
Got the most fan mail
She never got to show off her bell button
Bob Denver who plays Gilligan
Got the theme song changed in season two to include
The Professor and Mary Ann
The Professor, Mary Ann, and Ginger are still alive
Natalie Shafer who played Mrs. Howell was 64
Noone knew her age till she died at 90 in 1990
Russell Johnson, the Professor
Had a son die of AIDS
Gilligan's Island is actually Coconut Island
It sits in a harbor in the Hawaiian Islands
You can walk out to it on a bridge
So this is a tale of the show
It will be here for a long, long time
So join Netflix my friend
You're sure to get a smile
From seven stranded castaways
Here on Gilligan's Island
