"off and running"

“off and running”

their conversation that night was of plans and a schedule
insightful and humorous, though all too contrite
in a day or so they’d be many miles away
traveling after dark and sleeping each day

the unlimited funds hidden in the trunk
freed their souls of the small stuff and
left their minds free to wander
in search of a new life in that tropicality over yonder

no harm, no foul
no one on their tail
it was a victimless crime
no real fear of doing time

each turn in the road an adventure
how many diners had they passed
they didn’t even try to keep track
they had no thoughts of ever going back

settling by the sea they fished and raised a garden
on weekends played music and danced till dawn
seasons passed and they lived happily ever after
days of decadence and play and unstoppable laughter

AT WHAT COST DISTANCE?

what heart hath she that taketh me
'twixt here and her will never be
but her heart i heareth in the night
and i may never know why this feels so right

what soul hath she to save mine now
i cannot smile but she's teaching me how
how to trust, to touch but most of all to feel
feel whatever 'tis in thy heart a heart that she may heal

but teacher she's so far away and a mystery to me
then again she knew about my cerulean blue eyes to see
but see her never will i in how ever many passing years
but i'll always be grateful for stemming the tide from my cerulean blue eyes

so taketh from me everything i own
torture me in body and bone
the only way i ever connected to her was whenever we wrote
so Lord, when you plan to end a friend at least spare me one last note
WHY? WHAT IS THIS? IS IT SO CLOSE TO BE SO FAR?

DON'T KNOW IF U KNEW THIS OR IF I ALREADY TOLD YOU BUT IT BEARS
REPEATING....U R NICE AND I LIKE U SO THANK U FOR BEING
YOU
~ME!~

About this poem:
AKIN TO THE BIBLE I DIDN'T WRITE THIS...SHE DID AS SHE WHIPERED A BREEZE IN MY EAR,
AND SO I JUST JOTTED DOWN WHAT HER SOUL DICTATED FOR ME TO HEAR
AND SHE BETTER BE REAL

This is Balu's story

This is Balu's story
A poem for Balu
The prognosis of a home for me is not very good
Just one of many abandoned in my neighbourhood
I'm not the prettiest and my coat don't shine
But I long for somebody just to be mine.
Out in the rain, the cold and the frost
I'm all but given up, my cause is lost
I see no future, and my past was bad
But living with a hunter was all that I had
All he fed me was mouldy old bread
And that was on a good day, well enough said!
You see there's too many like me, abandoned to our fate
Disgarded like rubbish at an alarming rate
I'm luckier than most, I'm alive and I'm free,
Because most of my friends are beaten, then hung from a tree
There seems to be no end to this, it happens every year
We're the unseen dogs of Spain, the forgotten who live in fear
So if you see my photo, I'm a podenco named Balu
I don't want to be a hunting dog, I'd rather be with you.
I dream of the day when I can say I no longer have to roam
When life could be good, and I'd be happy living in a home
But for now I'm in a kennel, and I'm taking up a space
But I dream of all my tomorrows, and living at your place.
Please don't forsake me, I'm a podenco called Balu
Show a little kindness, and let me come to you.

Save the Anopheles Gambiae Mosquito

When you think of animals you want to save
Many cute and cuddly ones come to mind
The giant panda
Tigers
Whooping Crane
Blue Whale
Asian Elephant
Sea Otter
Snow Leopard
Gorilla
Tasmanian Devil and the Orangutan
They're pretty and they're popular
Me, the bloodsucking malaria spreading mosquito
Not so popular
We kill more humans than any other animal on the planet
That is of course if you don't count humans, they are really #1
So there are no charities out there for animals like us
None for the tsetse flies
None for scorpions either
So the whole animal charity business is a popularity contest
How much money does the average snow leopard get
Compared to the CEO that runs the charity?
Not much I bet

About this poem:
I have been recording Alice, a sitcom from the 70's about a waitress at Mel's Diner. Just about every commercial break they have these snow leopards that are facing extinction. Just thinking of some other animals out there not making any money for these charities, like the mosquito.

Dear Fellow Critters

Hello my fellow critters.
I will give you a lot of jitters.
My name is boom boom.
My bark is a signal of doom.

Can you hear the sounds of my bark.
It's a little bit dark.
Please open the light.
So it will be all bright.

Let's play a simple game.
Let's see who has the best aim.
Throw me my delicious treat.
Time for me to take a sit.

The spoiled dog is winning.
Please stop from crying.
There's always a next time.
But, the treats will always be mine.

Old Cat In The Shed

I come around
Only after dark
When the streets are empty
And the snow gently falls
Past a glowing neon light
When the noise of the city
Quiets the %$& on down
I sneak through the crack
By the bottom of the old door
Meets the concrete floor
Anxious to get away
From the mean streets
A few empty crates
Stacked near the back
An old coat losing its stuff
Fabric ripped and torn
Castaway years ago
Countless like other souls
That have been here before
Like me in this tin shed
Have watched and waited
