lemming

lemmings go to their end
nose to butt
run by millions
to end life's rut

see not themselves
but just run ahead
and over the cliff
to rocks of dread

beware the path
that we all follow
does not lead to
a truth rung hollow

to think the one before
knows the greatest way
may be a bad mistake
leading to lasting dismay

Saying Goodbye

Into my home I brought you.
It's been a decade hence.
I knew that we were family
And we've been together since.
Together we grew older,
You before your time.
Your journey so much bolder
And much more fleet than mine.
You've always waited there for me
To greet me at the door.
But now your eyes can barely see
And moving at all is a painful chore.
My heart is truly breaking
So great will be the pain.
And this decision that I'm making
Is one that chills like winter rain.
One last time I'll stroke your ears
And tell you nothing's wrong.
And tonight my eyes will flood with tears
That your life so short and mine so long.

parrot

Wish I had a parrot
I would call him after me
Sit him on the pearch
And let him talk to me

Who's a pretty boy he would learn
Maybe a few more words to cheer me up
When am feeling down
Would not like him chat to the ladies

He might be a flirt
He might try to chat to them
Say your a sexy bird, show your sexy curves

He tell them all about me
no I will have no secrets left
For that dam parrot
Has put the ladies of me

But hay at least he's company
And my bird

Little Feet on the Sand

Those tiny little feet walking
down the sea sand on the misty morning
leave the space between the sea and the ocean
just to see his eyes deeply broken.

Those tiny little feet always behind me,
even when I was about to cry,
or when i was just staring the sea absentmindedly,
the little tiny feet always save me.

How I miss my tiny little feet
and see him again to greet.

CATS

Cats are natural destroyers of rodents
Protecting man's property from the same
Based on this, humans may have seen the sense
In giving household felines a good name

Cats are treasured in many homes today
And are viewed as part of the family
They just need some food to eat, and to play
And they can be quite pleasant company

Cats and young children make good company
They all share in a common playfulness
Having fun with each other cheerfully
And filling each other with happiness

There are persons who are isolated
And life for them can be very lonely
A pet cat can make them feel uplifted
And help to ease their feelings of misery

Egyptians gave cats a god-like status
This is shown in the writings of their scribes
Today, not all of that status is lost
Why else do we say a cat has nine lives?

Dog In The Pound

I'm weary and I am lonely and,I am so afraid.
Please don't pass me by, will you come to my aid?
It's hard to understand why I was thrown on to the street
Left alone in the middle of nowhere with nothing around to eat.
I wasn't given a reason for being wanted no more
I was left alone and abandoned. Now what was all that for?
I never did any naughty things, of that I am so sure.
I never barked or ruined things. I even gave my paw.
So why do human's feelings change? I'm trying to see why
They would throw a good dog out like me, Oh my. Oh my. Oh my.
And now I'm here inside this cage, there's nothing more I can do
But pray that someone could love me. Could that person be you?
Each day goes by and I'm more afraid. I'm afraid in here I will die.
Because you all walk past my cage and, can't look me in the eye.
You may not think I'm pretty cos I have awfully scraggy hair
But that could be all mended if someone chose to care.
Oh please just stop. Look in my cage, one chance is all I need
I'd give you love in abundance and take very little to feed.
I'd be your loving companion and like to end my days.
Knowing that you loved me and, my funny little ways
It's so hard living in here but, I have my dreams you know.
So please don't walk past my cage. Please don't. Don't go
I'm getting rather desperate now for someone to hear my plea.
Please stop and look inside my cage. Please, please let it be me

Snails

Bought some snails today
Two to be exact
I asked
What about those smaller skinny ones
How much are those?
Those are for free
Why?
Because they produce asexually
And really multiply
I said I guess I'll stay away from the free snails
Then I said where are the ferrets?
We no longer carry ferrets, but the rest are over there at the end of that aisle
So I watched the guinea pigs and hamsters
One was trying desparately to get out
He wasn't happy
He wanted to be free
Not in a zoo for people to stare at him and make him feel weird inside
Animals have feeling too and most should not be in cages
Especially chimps
I really feel sorry for gorillas too

About this poem:
I went to Petsmart to get two snails to replace the ones that had died recently. I bought them on Palm Sunday. They lived a little over four months. The woman said I should feed them algae tablets daily and they should live longer. We'll see what happens.

Cow Preacher

I say to you my fellow bovine
My hoofed friends
We must be thankful for the grass in the valley
We must be thankful for the calves born each spring
Ours is a simple life
A life of mooing
A life of eating grass for hours on end
And that's about it

Spices of Life (soulgoddess's challenge)

many and varied are the spices
that clutter through my life
one in particlar springs to mind
it was back in the depths of time
summer of 1965 in ireland
at fifteen years of age
I knew it all couldn't be told
I had a fancy to ride this horse
at a stables near Bantry Bay
For a few weeks I tried to persuade
the owner to let me ride him
he kept telling me no, no and still no
but at long last he agreed to my request
but first round the field he made me ride
well that was easy although not in control
I made it look as if I was by pulling up
on each and every corner ok he said
you can go out but you will be the first
from England if you come back together
so oft we set up hill along the coast
towering clifts to my right a wall ahead
I could not hold him oh no, no way
as he bolted up the hill i knew, just knew
I had to do something fast or we were dead
the gap between the wall too narrow
with thick trees along the wall
near 400 yard drop on my right to rocks
so I did the only thing I could
I turned his head hard to the left
brambles four to five feet high
and so thick you couldn't see their end
we crashed down hard but I kept the reins
so mounted and oft we went again slowly
twice more that wretched horse bolted with me
but I can say with foolish pride
we both returned to the stables together
I had learnt a lesson that day for sure
never bite off more than you can chew
I never ever asked to ride him again

tis the season

Stirred by the winds of change she murmurs the stories destined to tell, releasing sensual call in the air, luring him to the doom of his loyns. His search causing his heart to swell, leaving empty desires. On ponds waters they greet for the mateing is a grand affair.
