My Bestest Pal

My pal is one of a kind
welcoming and gay

A sweetness he emits that none compare,
a heart of gold is all he is

My pal is the one i saw,
lost in a corner all forlorn.
through his suffering i helped him through
unwanted he was,
a treasure for me that day,
he became

My friend is all i ever want to have
he made me realise that love still exist
and is special in its own way.

I remember how i tended him
and scared my friend was,
hiding under the chair for a week without sound.

I tried to show him my heart was what i offered,
telling him it will be ok ,
after so much he gave me his first kiss of affection even if than he ran and hid scared to trust again ,
to me a success was that day
for i found a friend in that sweet and lovely act.

Time passed by and he trusted again in every way,
i gained his love and tenderness and realised how blessed i was to have helped him that day.

He was beaten and i gave him life and hope and when i needed the most he helped me believe in love once more and gave me his thanks by being always my side,
my bestest furry friend i could ever have! :) .

Tripe

TRIPE

Unbelieving nostrils flare upon each taxed face
smelling death's breath in an unfamiliar place.
Survival's panic flashes in their innocent eyes
as not guilty pleas echo in their unheeded cries!

The end comes with steel piercing a trapped head
then shackles grip hind legs, before they are dead.
Hoisting them stupefied to where jugulars are cut
now no more open fields, or leisurely casual strut!

Amid the stench of death and near congealed blood
the compulsory spilling out of that morning's cud.
For the stomach walls to be misshapen then dipped
in mother's milk, after all tubes have been clipped!

Hired slaughtermen sharpen blades to start again
on those left cowering without a future to sustain.
With only a raw instinct, fostered by others fright,
oh, how well all good meat eaters will eat tonight!

My Feline Counselor

Feeling sad lying so very still in bed
Careful she places her paw on my face
With searching amber eyes instead
A speechless gesture for me to embrace
"You are my world where my light is shed"
This message shared with a straight face
Listen how my soft purring love is pled
I’m here to comfort you in any case

About this poem:
Something very old and primitive in our brains understands compassion even between species as witnessed with my cat. It makes me wonder why our more complex human brains discount it so much.

The Arabian Horse

On the cusp of beauty, you were born
Before this World had its modern form.

Atavar and Spirit much older than us
Existence formed from the deserts' dust.

Imprinted in time, dissolved on the wind
Generous in spirit, eye that is kind.

Giving your blood to the World's other breeds
Improving the type, producing proud steeds.

Your form is beauty, power, and grace
Down storied time your bloodlines I trace.

Steven

First seen, was wandering round the woods
Abandoned, left to die
How could a person be so bad
Sometimes I wonder why

When found neglect had settled in
His body worse for wear
Starvation played an awful part
And also lack of care

He struggled just to walk around
Collapse was on its way
His bones were there for all to see
From lack of food each day

But still he had a little strength
To up and run away
When people tried to get a hold
And rescue him that day

It really was a lucky thing
That he was found that day
If he had not, the poor young thing
Might soon had passed away

He must have known how bad it was
From how he acts since then
Won't let nobody get near him
No matter where or when.

But now he's in the hands of Paul
A man who really cares
Who'll make him look like other
Lovely stallions and mares

He'll clean him up and feed him well
And comfort he will give
He'll build him up so before long
He'll have the strength to live

And soon he'll get back to the days
Of grazing, mind at ease
Without a care in the world
That thought is sure to please

Then come the time to find a place
That he can call his home
A place where he can live his life
With fields where he can roam

The search is on, to find that place
An owner will be found
Who really cares, who'll take the time
This person is around

Who'll take him to a comfy home
That person he'll believe in
And he will be their gracious steed
Oh yes, his name is Steven

Little Cat

Little cat what are you at as in the woods you go,
Are you chasing birds and mice I'd really like to know.

You wander back when you need food though you really are quite fat
Then jump up on my knee or go to sleep upon the mat.

Little cat what are you at for two days you've been gone
I've looked in the house and searched the woods you've never stayed out so long.

Oh little cat at last your back and you look so very thin
If you could only speak I'd like to know where you have been.

Ah! Now I know my precious pet I followed you to where,
through the hedge in an old wood box four tiny new kittens lying there.

You really were a clever cat you didn't make a fuss,
Just had your kittens by yourself and then came home to us.

Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.

See the little fawn, move too fast and she'll be gone.
She knows to run away, when the hunter comes to spoil her play.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they feel just like we do.
Mother Cow's out in the field, so much milk she can yield.
Father bull he tills the land, providing grain for beast and man.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they feel just like we do.
See the birds up in the tree, they also have their families.
Build their nests way up high - just like you they don't want to die.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they have feelings too.
Have Mercy on the Animals, they feel just like we do.
Have Mercy, the mercy will be shown to you.
Have Mercy, and mercy will be shown to you.

3 Dog Haiku

dog breaks wind in sleep
awakens and sniffs the air
then bolts from the room

dog in playful mood
spinning around and around
to catch its own tail

dog sniffing the grass
searching for the perfect spot
to put down a poop
