The Tale of the Old Man (Part VII)

Was in seventy seven that Catherine moved
Out to the Blue Mountains
Mary went along with her
Just to help her settle

The news I saw here on TV
It happened there at Granville
The train had ploughed into the bridge
And everything was twisted

I prayed to God don't let it be
That Mary has been injured
On this train she was coming home
She'd told me how she missed me

All day they worked in the wreck
To free the dead and injured
Eighty three the count came to
And I had lost my Mary

Gone was Mary, my sweet love
The light that shone daily
Part of me had died that day
And I felt this empty yearning

The emotion was too much for him
His face was soaked in tears
He wiped a rag across his face
To hide the tears within

Slowly he composed himself
And once more brought out flask
Another sip to wet his mouth
Before he'd start again

The nation mourned as I mourned
Each in our own way
So many good people
That had died that day

I must admit my faith did falter
And I railed at God for days
How could you let this happen
You've stolen my life away

One night He spoke to me
As I wallowed in self pity
Remember the promise that was made
I will not forsake you

I can see that smile playing round your lips
You think the old man's senile
Wasn't words as such that he spoke
'Twas more like a feeling

That was the day, the turning point
And slowly I got better
I saw all that I had left
My children round me gathered

'Twas in eighty one that Catherine wed
To a man I'm proud to call son
She'd barely turned twenty four
And I wished Mary was there

Bertram had grown tall and strong
Turned twenty two that year
Brought along a lovely girl
His wife she was going to be

Was in eighty three when Bertram wed
When we had all those fires
Right across Victoria
And down to South Australia

Ash Wednesday is what they called it
Bout the worst in history
Bush burnt, animals died
And homes burnt a plenty

Road To Freedom

Cast off on your saintly voyage you wretched sinner
Puff your chest so full of yourself what a disgusting winner
Can’t you please understand there’s really no right or wrong
What you define as inferior may be in my own way just as strong
The world is so full of hypocrites who cast their evil gaze
And expect as much from diplomats with such practiced craze
Be aware that most will just agree to let you rule so seldom
For in the end our votes will send you down the road to freedom

Our Reflection

It can be the smallest bite to eat
Or the oldest shoes on our feet
We act as if thees things are nothing
Others would do anything for our waste
But thats something we choose not to face
Why cant we tell people the real story
A man can eat a burger and win a million dollars
But that same money can silence a thousand hollars
We need to decide to actually do something
A man is dying in the street and we step over him
If it was your family would you say screw them
This has got to be seen as a national emergency
If our people are hurt overseas we jump to war
Yet people die in our streets and we wont do more
Either we choose to find and fix the problem fast
Or this country we know and love will never last

Dream a Dream

Sad and sorry sight you are
Sagging round the edges
Gutters hanging, rusted roof
Windows sightless staring
Mortar crumbling, cracking walls
Floorboards creaking, groaning
Weeds in garden overgrown
Fencing missing and broken

Yet there you sit so patiently
Waiting to be discovered
To dream a dream
And give you love
To bring you back to life
Once again a joyous home
For a brand new family

Fallen Soldier

I take another breath
Taste the stress back of my throat
Back of my throat
To the depth of my chest
Wondein’
Why there’s any breath lest
When so many lye breathless
In that place I lest
Where Death won’t rest
Pain won’t sleep
And troublin’ thoughts won’t cease
As you pray for peace
Beg and plead
Prayin’ that you leave
Finally, orders received
By the momentary reprieve
A hard thing to learn
You’ve been called to return
To the bloody sounds that burn
Eager to turn…
Your Happy times with family
Into thoughts & dreams that tear at your sanity
How can this be?
That nothing happen to me
Left to live a life that’s sad to see
II pray they’re not mad at me
Victims of a Patriotic tragedy
Bonded by Comrodery
By the Lord,
Another fate’s been handed me
Try to be understandin’
Please!
I implore Thee
Forever I mourn we (thee)
“til this whole world is over
My Fallen soldier

Lucky Penny

Just another picture of President Lincoln
Not made of Gold but copper will have to do.
We hope for another shiny one to come our way.
We need a penny for just that time when mom pops
into a candy store. But then we reach and find that
Penny with the lucky clover on it and nope cannot use
that penny it is the lucky one floating around. Try again
and here is another just made out of copper nothing special
other than it takes more than a penny for that candy at
the candy store. So if you’re lucky the cashier may let
you go for just a simple penny to hope you will use your
last lucky clover penny and it will be his to. If I had
a penny I would use it for some candy too. Well I do not
have a penny but I have some candy will that do over
because I have your lucky penny that you lost to my
~~~~~~~~ candy ~~~~~~~~~
~~ TALK ~ NICELY ~~
Some to speak and other of silence
Putting words together is a way of,
speaking and must it be nicely only
if you want to be heard.
Having a story or maybe a blog just a
piece of information just talk nicely
so you can be heard from a far.
Some afraid others ashamed it is a part
of us speaking to others oh so nice
when words are not so harsh.
When hard words get tossed away, all
communication is gone to silence the
room we know there is no nice talking.
About this poem:
If it is not nice and most likely should not speek, then put your words into the back of your head and trying saying something nice. We always want to say something nice and try not to offen a soul.
To Satisfy Mankind's Greed
She shakes and shudders as you plunge deeper
Uncaring, unhearing you ceaselessly carry on
You rape and pillage without thought or care
Oh earth what you must suffer
To satisfy mankind's greed
Where's That Guy With The Dog?
I asked my coworker
Where's that guy with the dog?
Oh, remember that s*xual harassment video we had to watch
He was the reason we had to watch it
They fired him because he was trying to get every girl on second shift
I think of that and it makes me feel bad about the place I work
That the climate allows someone to think they can abuse their power
And use their management position as a tool of abuse
It certainly isn't confined to this place
My second boss was promoted after he was facing charges of assulting girls
This was in 1989
40 years ago
So are we progressing on this issue?
Maybe, at least I hope so
About this poem:
Respect is something that is so important, and so hard to find in other people I have come across. Those who truly have respect for women, especially pretty women is pretty awful in this country. I wonder how we match up with Canada or Norway.
