i was floating on a cotton bud

i was floating on a cotton bud high up in the sky,
when an angel flew by, and asked me ‘hey, why?’
there’s so much work that needs to be done
here on this earth, so many issues. everyone!

i told the light creature, that i’d had enough,
of humans who’re selfish, uncouth and so rough.
for all his intelligence, man has ruined this world
with plastic, and warheads, and hatred unfurled.

look at the environment, the seas. even space.
the murder of forests, and oceans’ deface.
dead satellites in orbit, we now call space junk,
what’s there to shout about, this planet is sunk!

so the angel got busy, to turn me around,
from my floating carriage, in silent surround.
go back my dear fellow, to the sins of the world,
but look at the goodness, your vision unfurled.

the birds in the skies, chirping and singing away,
the great humpbacks of the oceans, a sight on any day.
the lord of the jungle, with his mighty roar,
and the graceful gazelle, we all love and adore.

there are good people, if you really care to look,
not in the bible, the koran or any other holy book,
but just look around you, and marvel and see
happy children’s faces from any degree.

for that aught be the reason, to strive and to toil,
and make this earth safer for them to grow tall,
the beauty of love, and the tests we must solve
to get goodness remembered, and bad to resolve.

so i floated down gently on the same cotton bud
and got off my carriage, with ne’er a thud.
and looking around me, i was in this room
chockfull of children, and no elbowroom…..

all colours, all sizes. all smiling. .... no gloom.

Quick Money

You wanna make some quick money
Without all that working, dealing with managers, coworkers and all that crap?
Well, you steal
One way is to get a gun and walk into a bank
And say to the clerk
Give me all your money
Another way is to write a note, hand it to the clerk, on it write
Give me all your money, my buddies is outside with a gun drawn on you
Another way is to get knocked up
Of course this only works if you're a woman
Then you get to go on welfare, and if you're lucky the sucker
You got to knock you up will actually pay you child support
Here's another way, you come from some country like Guatemala
You come into this country and get caught by the border patrol
They put you in an air conditioned building with food and a nice cot
All the free health care paid for by workers with crappy health insurance
These are just a few of the ways millions upon millions have shirked their duty
To be productive citizens and instead become blood sucking maggots
All with the help of our politicians and apathetic public

Odd Man Out

Yesterday I saw a man
sitting on a park bench
reading a book,
and I thought to myself,
poor chap,
he must not be able to afford a smartphone.

Canadian Geese

I am getting tired of hearing about the wall
All the attention given to illegal aliens coming here
What about the animals coming over from our northern neighbors
The ones from Canada
I am talking about Canadian geese
Canadian geese in massive numbers crapping in our lakes
Making these lakes unusable by anyone
If you even get the water on you, you get a terrible rash
A rash that persists for weeks
What is Donald Trump doing about this problem?
Nothing much I bet
Needless to say you can't build a wall tall enough to keep out geese
So what is the solution?
I say replace the Thanksgiving turkey with the Canadian goose
That would be a start

R Kelly

Who can we find to point at
And say Bad Man for doing that!
Michael Jackson did a good moonwalk
But his interview with Oprah made everyone talk
Bill Cosby sold some good pudding
Little did we know he gave women pills which wasn't a good thing
OJ was in The Naked Gun which made me laugh a lot
I didn't believe it when they said he stabbed and got caught
Now we have R Kelly with a song I Believe I Can Fly
Gayle King showed us he can also lie
So how many of my heroes fall into islands of blame?
Tearing down men seems to be the game

About this poem:
It seems with all the cell phones we have rammed up the bullying behavior of people. I read that suicidal thoughts are on the uprise in America. I do miss the innocence of the 70's and 80's when I grew up before all this bad news on my heroes came out. How long before they find something on Will Smith.

Madison Trip

Went to the ice rink to juggle three hockey pucks to some good music
Went to the library to play on the internet
Then I went to Burger King to get some sausage and mini cinnamon rolls
I didn't know you have to put the icing on yourself
I went to Pawn America and bought a behind the scenes of American Idol DVD
Then I went to Cracker Barrel and bought some Herr's curls
I went to Goodwill and bought the Osborne Family CD
Then I went to Bowl-A-Vards Lanes and played a video golf game
Then I drove around the capital building
I went to Henry Vilas Zoo where I saw a polar bear only two feet away from me
I went to Chuck E Cheese and won over 1,100 tickets at the balloon game
And I got a personal pizza with sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms
Then I went to another Goodwill store and got a wood hockey stick
I also got a REM CD with Man on the Moon and Everybody Hurts
And a tape on how to have a good work atmosphere
Then I went back to my home town of Platteville and went to Goodwill there
I couldn't find anything I wanted there
And I finished the trip with juggling with my hockey stick and three pucks

Lament Of Yesteryear

Dream your dreams of yesteryear
When you were young and free
Drown your sorrows in your cup
And cry for all that’s been

Let those tears from your eyes
Trickle down your cheeks
As you wail “why, oh why,
Has age crept upon me?”

Forgotten are the things so good
As you wallow in self pity
Then you wonder why no-one cares
Or extends a hand for helping

See things you have instead
Count blessings day by day
Keep it up and what is left
Will not be here tomorrow

When Wisdom Whispers

Wisdom whispers in your ear
Tells you in a soft voice
All you need to hear
When you make the wrong choice
Let’s make one thing clear
If you only listen to yourself
You don’t have much to fear
Life can throw a few curves
You swing you miss they jeer
And just as quickly you swerve
Hit a home run and they cheer
So…when wisdom whispers in your ear
Let it tell you in the softest tones
Words you will hold so dear

Cutie Patootie

Cutie Patootie....... Babadoobie

You not only look more beautiful
You feel more beautiful on the inside
There is a certain type of radiance
That truly emanates from you
Which makes you absolutely
Irresistible Baby……...Work it

The Truth about Liars.

Don't lie to me this Autumn day,
I'll detect it in your phoney eyes,
The way you can the truth betray,
Behind your fake disguise.

In a court of law, the truth will pay,
Said calmly without shame,
A nervous cheat, has too much to say,
To try and clear their name.

Liars will always convince themselves,
That what they speak is truth,
Their tongue into their darkness delves,
For trickery most uncouth.

Tall tales there are a million kinds,
But truth there is only one,
Falsehoods breed in liars minds,
Yet decent truth there's none.

If all lies told were now displayed,
On our foreheads one and all,
'Tis then we'd know who us betrayed,
From their shameful social withdrawal.

Tread carefully if ever one you meet,
Their tales, they'll coax you believe,
In a scammers heart there lurks deceipt,
Yet only themselves deceive.

Their skin is but a false veneer,
From their mouth fake rumours spew,
Poisoning every listening ear,
With gossip most untrue.

But on Mizzy's word you can rely,
For the truth I solemnly tell,
Verity is rewarded in the Heavens on high,
So ye liars can go to Hell !
