Internet Set

Google, Amazon, Yahoo and Bing
Search engines with algorithms that swing
Keywords, rankings each tell their own unique tale
of failure or success, with every new sale
Twitter, Google and Facebook matter
Social networking to increase relevant chatter
The Internet is a world of its own
Clicking on links, a habit now grown
Website owners pay for impressions
Others make video sessions
Promotion and advertising are in the lead
Interesting news delivered as a feed
Whatever the topic, be it books or crooks
The Internet delivers all of these, disguised beneath good looks
Sex, drugs, p*dophile
Lunatics searching for juveniles
Harmful beings are on the loose
Bullies are trying to tighten the noose!

About this poem:
I wrote this poem in my spare time.
I am naturally a deep thinker and when I was young, the Internet did not exist. Neither did mobile phones for that matter.
I remember black and white TV in my early childhood.
The Internet has opened a new world but in my opinion, there is the good and the bad.
Children are more exposed now than ever before to the negative that social networking sites and the harm they can do when it comes to bullying. This is a very important issue which should be controlled by parents and gpvernment bodies and taken seriously.
Yes, children will lie about their age and many other things to join facebook and other networking sites but they shouldn't be able to until they reach a certain legal age.
Some people have strong characters and simply ignore nasty comments and can handle them. Other people are not so strong and this makes the vulnerable.
There are a lot of scammers and wicked people that will not stop at anything to deceive honest people on dating sites or simply steal personal information to put to bad use.
There is no point in pretending the Internet is all good because we are all intelligent enough to see what is good and what is not.
I hope you enjoy my poem.

Karaoke

It's fun to get up there and sing a song
Sometimes to get a laugh
Sometimes to get a laugh without planning on it
My last song was Stan by Eminem
My first karoke song was 1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins
My biggest laugh for Adam Sandler's At A Medium Pace
Some songs haven't gone over so well
Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time
Billy Joel's Allentown
I have to admit sometimes I sing a song to mess with the audience
Now I am singing songs that are related to Halloween
My next song will be The Blob
My song after that will be Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
I started singing karaoke in 2001
I have been singing every week since then
I do one song a week at a bar called Brothers on Second
This is in Platteville, Wisconsin
I have sang around 780 songs so far

About this poem:
I sing every day in my car. If I had a house I would sing much more, but apartments don't work too well as I like to sing really loud. Most of my songs are pop songs and I try to taylor them to the holidays.

Black Friday

Black Friday, well what can i really say.
It's a bargain, the price humanity does pay.
Kicking and punching to save a penny or two.
Augments a plenty, in the disorderly queue.

It's mine, i got my hands on it first.
You son of a b*tch is then often cursed.
A world full of luxury, yet many have nothing.
While those that want more, their pockets they're stuffing.

A materialistic money grabbing idea was born.
While in reality it's the demise of morals we mourn.
It's not the needy that's rushing to get what they need.
It's the greedy and their addiction they must feed.

So my thoughts on this whole black Friday deal.
There are no savings that to me will appeal.
Just another tear i shall cry for our human race.
As yet again our behaviour is a total disgrace.

I hope all you wealthy business men are happy at last.
For the shadow on humanity you have greedily cast.
More money in your pockets, more shares in the bank.
For the death of another day, we all know who to thank.

People on welfare who could work, but would rather steal

Prejudice

Prejudice is generated thoughts given strength by a folly of feelings and actions sometimes confirmed by differences, personal experiences, fear and ignorance. Historically our differences has divided us rather than united us, simply because we lack understanding and tolerance. Misconceptions has fueled it's existence into long standing through, class distinctions, self identification, likes and dislikes and material possessions. As much as we can admit, we are bound by heritage and tradition.
Prejudice can be good and bad, it gives us the latitude of choice but it should not give us the power to hate, to transport or take away freedoms from others that they can't control. Prejudice is primary based on differences and disallowed concessions to embrace change and unlikeness. We sometimes unknowingly project our prejudices on others by being so stern or steadfastly rooted in self-proclaimed truths that restricts us from considering other points of view or to embrace differences.
Prejudice impedes our ability to reach higher heights of social conscientiousness to cope with visual, intellectual or physical perceptions engulfed by perceived thoughts of how things should or should not be. We all can be enriched by learning from others and by shedding inward and outer conflict when we dedicate ourselves to being a bridge builder. Crusader's chart new paths and bring people together nurturing them into maturity not to abandon self-characterization or identification but to understand others or that which is different.

DVR

I love to watch TV
One of the greatest things to me
I grew up from 1974 to 1986 with no way to record
I finally found a VCR in 1987 I could afford
Then they changed my cable just recently
So I couldn't record for free
I got my DVR a week ago
Now I can fast forward without going slow
I can record multiple shows at one time
For the cost of 100 dimes
Shows I couldn't record before
I have waiting at my DVR recorded store
Johnny Carson, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert too
Family Feud, the Olympics, All in the Family to name a few
It is so much fun, almost as much fun as singing in my car
That I am having with my new DVR

About this poem:
I have really gone a long way from VCR to DVR. No tapes to store and a better image. The time it used to take to fast forward through commercials is a real time saver.

Good Ol Shows

Just a good ol boys
Never meaning no harm
Beats all you ever saw
Been off the TV ever since
They went after that flag on their car
Bill Cosby met the same fate
When he drugged a bunch of women
He was trying to date
Then there's Pepe Le Pew
Making fun of the French
Seem all they want is a fanny to pinch
Speedy Gonzalas
You gotta go too
Moking Mexicans makes the censors hate you
Just some good ol shows
Never meaning no harm
Beats all you ever saw
Been in trouble with the law
Since the day political correctness was born

Crazy,Crazy and more Crazy!!!!

Day after day the World is coming more crazy,
for minds so hard to handle and moving just lazy.

Religions against Religions,Races against Races,
with no Heart around.
Brothers against Brothers,Sisters against Sisters,
never to be sound.

Democracy as Democracy,Equal as Equal,
have no true meaning.
Ego building Ego,Self building Self,
is where it is leaning.

Politics trough Politics,Media trough Media,
brainwashing is the tool.
Lies more Lies,Promises more Promises,
very much to fool.

Leaders after Leaders,Governments after Governments,
have no quality to solve.
Humans after Humans,Souls after Souls,
feel betrayed and sold.

History repeat History,Madness repeat Madness,
memories are all to short.
Destiny follow Destiny,Fate follow Fate,
with minds of others faults.

God as God,the Book as the Book,
can not pay the bill.
Heart good Heart,Deeds good Deeds,
the only key is our will.

To solve the problems and get the peace,
I really can not see.
Perhaps I'm so angry and too disappointed,
that mind of me is not free.

Saying It, Not Doing It

You know what we have to do
We need to take better care of ourselves
We need to eat more fruits and vegetables
We need to be nice to our neighbors
We need to bike and walk instead of using our cars
We need to elect politicians who really care about us
We need to elect a president who will balance the budget
We need to have police who respect all people
We need to get rid of all the cameras and the drones
We need a worldwide minimum wage that respects the dignity of people
We need to go to Mars and establish settlements there and other moons
We need to mind our own business when it comes to religion
We need to laugh more
We need to stop saying mean things that hurt others feeling
We need to have able bodied people work who can work
We need to quit making excuses about not having free medical care
We need people to not have so many kids who cannot take care of them
We need people to leave their cell phones off at the movie theater
We need people to leave their cell phones off while driving
We need to take the licenses away from drunk drivers
We need more love in the world
We need to forgive ourselves
