Are you real ?.

Will there be happiness? Is it really a feeling that emerges at the best moments? Or maybe just some flash created by moments filled with complete joy? It will be my question a cliché, everything is based on the time we empty our mind, what never motivates us is what makes us take issue. Have I ever felt absent as if I no longer knew who I am or what I do in the exact place where it has always been a present, with my hands around my temple as if trying to bring a piece of coherence with me, I calmly close my eyes and that reality of which my question towards happiness was a beginning, torture my innocence and a naive and fatuous procedure simply, I stop knowing, I just do not understand, stop believing

Was it a dream?

I got stung
By the bug of self expression
Woke up
In the middle of the night
Thirsty for words
The broth of sparkling booze
Was gushing
Out of the wound
I tasted it and got drunk
Kept spiraling
Instead of walking a straight line
Lost my words in the noise
Realized that I had to
Take things silli-ously
And went grazing
In the pastures of pleasure

Runaway Love

I want to runaway to where
I am free
Joy of feeling a home to share
Hiding away
I want to catch my first kiss
Trying my way
The magic of my first wish
Lighting up
I want to burn a long candle
A fragrant one
I want to watch over the sand hill
Gazing as one
I just want one to discover
One called ours
I want to reach up and uncover
Secrets inside
I want to curl up and be still
My heart swells
I want to listen to it spill
Louder it beats
The power of its message
Pounding away
I want to swim through its passage
To the other side
Freedom to explore the unknown
Searching for freedom
How grateful love was shown
Escaping away

Transitions

My dad died today
a solemn Wednesday. In May.
Dozens, long unseen
converged that day
to pray and to comfort
the soon bereaved.
Proud he was,
pulled his last breath only
when we left the room
In privacy.

But I had been there
to observe the ritual
of his passing.
Strange odors, unnatural heat.
His yellowed eyes
a distraction from
his laboured breathing
and shame of wilting
away.

………………………..

Buried my dad today.
Small funeral. Big change
He lay stiff, in brown suit,
Cold, handsome
And dead.
Fatherly smirk,
plain as Day, hinted
a last smile and
blissful nothingness.

Catholic priest,
paid to speak eloquently
Pretended on pulpit
they were aquaintances.
Untouched by the sadness
that stilled my siblings
I fidgeted. My brain
strained to process
His absence.

About this poem:
My father died on May 30th, 1990 while I was still in my teens yet I wrote this in 2004 or 2005 when I worked on Cruise ships and inspired to write. In the past, I had a tendency to bury difficult things until I was ready to consciuosly process it through writing...a hobby I wish I had pursued with more passion.

Anyways, I thought I'd post it here to mark the occasion.... It is the first time I am posting something this private in a public forum.

I'm not sure what category or style this will fit into but I sincerely hope you enjoy it. Thank You.

DENVER IN DECEMBER

Denver in December,
With the snowfall lookin' pretty,
Denver in December,
What an incredible city

Such a mind-blowing town
Snow capped Rockies to the west,
It's such a God given joy,
To sample Denver's best,

And it's legal to soar like an eagle,
Yeah it's legal to fly on high in freedom,

If you've never been,
To Denver in December,
It's a dream-like high,
You will always remember,

There's a song about,
A Rocky Mountain high,
Head to Denver in December,
And you'll see just why

And it's legal to soar like an eagle,
Yeah it's legal to fly on high in freedom,

Denver in December,
16th Street Mall's scene,
People laugh a mile high
Come find exactly what that means,

Denver In December,
Where the people are cool,
So when you go there, man,
Don't you be no freakin' fool,

Denver in December,
Where the sun shines all night,
And when the moon kisses the sun,
What an out-of-sight sight,

And it's legal to soar like an eagle,
Yeah, it's legal to fly on high in freedom,

Denver in December,
I will always remember,

Denver, In December.

what I feel for you

Sometimes the thoughts in my head seem to explode
Sometimes my heart is locked and has no code
To be opened again, to beat the right song

I found a small light of a candle
The darkness can be fought away
But sometimes you come and blow it out
And let me down, Darling

Sometimes you make me feel so lost inside
Sometimes you make me cry tears I cannot hide
You don’t make it easy to love you condition less

I would never council, what I feel for you
I would never lose my love to you
I would never regret something I did for you
But you don’t make it easy to love you

The Storm

thunder and lightening
very very frightening,

scare me not you howling misery,
life is better than your scary destiny.

uncover the beauty of lifes tender love,
uncover the truth of lifes gentle rose,
get out your camera, while i strike a pose,
For my soul within, will flourish indefinitely.

Seek the summit with me my future,
i long to hold, not scold, our heartbeat

Come to me my beauty Queen,
Lets take a walk, and explore curiousely...

Purple Moon

Out of the darkness does bring
Those hazy midsummer dreams
Where the river turns land into mud
Hearing our names in an echo
Dreaming under your purple moon

Without no fires or stars ablaze
Dimly lighting the mountain stones
Slowly crescent around a misty pond
The stilling silence that you bring
Dreaming under your purple moon

Letting go all my heavy weight
Flying like a lightening bug
Dancing in your light forevermore
Smiling at all the tranquility
Dreaming under your purple moon

The Dunes

Shifting like sand in a porthole
Colliding like particles of matter
Creating dust that rise in a sky
Cooling into long vapor trails
Stretching as far as my eye
Washing waters making lines
Sculpting little parallel ridges
Laying side by many sides
Shifting stretching under my feet

(Emotional Highway)

(Emotional Highway)
Traveling down emotional highway
Trying to escape
Never looking back on all the hurt
Have no room for pain
Avoiding heart ache curve
On into the night I go
Gotta get away
Roaming aimlessly
No time to check into heart break hotel
Getting that divorce you cause me
No room for cheating liars
You misused my heart way too long
Now traveling down emotional highway
Into the sunset I go
Putting it all behind me
No time for sad smiles
Clear sky’s ahead
So you can’t rain on my parade
Don’t need disappointment as my passenger
Here I go pass heart attack lane
Never stopping till I reach
New horizons
