sec - Thanks for posting that rather comprehensive article indicating the evolutionary links between birds and their ancestor dinosaurs.
ba - #1. I don't hate anyone. #2. We both have been on here long before Trump lied his way into power. So, your excuse is invalid.
Luc - perhaps. But, it was following a butterfly. So, perhaps it was a beewannabebutterfly.
D_L - That bird looks to be a relative to a cardinal. However, it lacks the coloring of a US cardinal. Is it a bird from India ?
riz - good luck with your new technological adventure. While I am not familiar with your particular camera make nor model, if you have general photo questions along the way, feel free to ask away along the way of your adventure.
There are several controls you should be able to adjust and they all have to do with light. They include ISO, apurature, shutter speed, and white balance. The ISO setting influences how sensitive the sensor is. The higher the setting, the less light you need for a good picture. However, the higher the setting, the more grainy the picture. The apurature setting adjusts how narrow or wide the lens opens when taking a picture. Obviously, the smaller the opening, the less light that reaches your picture. But, also the greater the depth of field in focus. The faster the shutter speed the less light that reaches your photo. But also, the less blur of motion. You can also adjust the white balance. This is useful in shade, or cloudy conditions and also when taking photos in unnatural lighting situations.
The key is to learn not only how to adjust these things, but how much of each to control different situations. If you want to take average photos, stick to the automatic settings. However, if you want to take excellent photos you do the adjustments manually.
T - I'm glad you loved the photos of the hummingbirds.
Yes, hummingbirds are amazing fliers, and can fly backwards. They rotate their wings on an angle to do that. If you go by times body length, they are the fastest fliers in the world beating their wings very rapidly, which is why I chose a very high shutter speed, so the wings were not excessively blurred.
ba - I sometimes get that comment the first time someone sees my photos. On average, it can take a person a time or 2 to visualize past the label I put on them to protect them.
I find it ironic, that in all the years you've been on here, and the thousands of blogs I've posted, this is the only comment I remember you ever making on one of my blogs.
I sent an email to an entomologist along with the picture attached. Hopefully, I will hear something sometime later this week. When I do, I will update this blog.
What a bad joke. Trump served his big money donors by giving them a big permanent tax break, that put the country deeper in debt. He also appointed them to cabinet positions that they were unqualified for. He fleeced donors with his lies about the infrastructure and building the wall. With emoluments violations he raked in cash from foreign dignitaries staying in Washington and presidential security all being urged to stay at his hotels after he increased prices. He didn't help the average citizen one bit. Indeed, he harmed the USA immeasurably, just like Putin hoped. That's why Putin helped the "useful idiot" win.
I can understand, how you might be confused, because they seem somewhat the same. But, when you fully understand, legally, they are not the same. Again, LOANS always have criteria, that the borrower has to meet to get the loan and can change up until the time that they receive the loan. Alternatively Congress approved grants already met whatever criteria was needed and legally cannot be held up. Congress already approved it. Trump committed quip pro quo in doing so. In addition this was money that was sorely needed by the Ukraine to defend themselves from invading Russians. Not only did Trump break the law in doing so, but he put the Ukraine in serious risk of being overthrown.
G - I've seen the video many times. However, that is regarding a LOAN during the Obama administration. Loans always carry criteria for the loan. So, there is nothing wrong with that whatsoever.
What Trump did was upheld a CONGRESS APPROVED GRANT. Grants do not have criteria and he violated the law in holding up the grant while asking for evidence against a family member of a political rival.
Maybe it IS in the bee family. Perhaps it's not a proboscis, and instead is a view of one antenna. It appears much too small to be a yellowjacket though. Perhaps a tinier species related to one though.
Because t suggested a yellowjacket in her comment, and so I posted it to show her the difference between a yellow jacket and the tiny insect in my original photo. Sorry to unintentionally mislead you. To be clearer see the lower right hand corner of my photo of the butterfly. That is the insect, that I am unfamiliar with.
Hi t I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. Thanks for your guess. However, that yellow insect does not appear to be a yellowjacket;
The insect I photographed was about 12 times smaller than a yellowjacket and lacked the black banding. Plus, unlike a yellowjacket, it has a proboscis.
What an odd statement. He was recently beaten by the first Democrat to run against him, and that was when Trump was the incumbent. He was a loser as an incumbent, because he clearly was OFFICIALLY the worst US president in our lifetime. Indeed, his presidency was horrendous.
If he ever runs again (doubtful considering his many pending lawsuits), he will get beaten again. He is likely just padding his sorely needed finances by again fleecing supporters in an effort to help pay for his legal fees.
That's the problem. Sadly, what once was "the party of Lincoln" has become the party of lies. They like to enrage their constituents with outrageous lies, repeated over & over, so they become chants and become beliefs. The truth has no effect on the devout. Instead, they wholeheartedly believe what they want to believe, rather than the truth.
