If the gradient is

I may add this is an interesting Right Angle triangle because the \Hypotenuse (C) is the same as base (B). Asq + Bsq = Csq..

If the gradient is

Dieci - that should be atan(0.1/23.3) = ? OR atan(1/233) = ?

If the gradient is

Tepid, wrong. laugh

Maybe the conversion from tenths of an inch to inches confuses. Think a side is one and on the other side of the 90 degree angle the leg is 233.

If the gradient is

Also it is a simple 3 4 5 triangle. one side one inch, one side 23.3 with the height being the 90 degree angle.

RE: The Donald now ties the severely ill witch in resp

Yes. It does raise the question why should the armed guards of the Secret Service be used to protect anyone who doesn't own and shoot an AR 15 of their own? Surely a candidate who doesn't believe in the Second Amendment should not be entitled to protection from those who do.

RE: why !

Have they shown up and taken their clothes off before asking for the money? Or do they still have their clothes on when asking for the money or how much you are willing to spend?

RE: 911 victims to sue Saudi Arabia

Well now that this opens the door, it works both ways. Parents of children deformed by Agent Orange in their drinking water in Vietnam can now soon sue the US. Relatives of those killed at wedding parties by US Hellfire missiles in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq can now sue the US. I see so many lawsuits coming from Syria and Libya I llose count. Yes, opening this door was a brilliant idea, not.

Goodbye little buddy

Thank you all for the sympathy. Fish was real and it lived. It had a soul. It's relationship with DB challenges the view fish think not. The ritual with the pebbles on the bottom of it's tank shows even a fish can get bored. I felt bad sometimes that I could not give it a companion, because it killed everything I added to the tank. I can only hope that it suffered not at the end. I still miss it. The empty tank reminds me every morning and evening. Another hollow space once filled by life. Such is life.

Sigh, I was thinking he had a cat or a bird and it left and hadn't returned. doh

Why we love Deer

The short one was grown experimentally on a tomato trellis. I was curious to see if the squash would grow too large for hanging and drop off. However the plant realized the squash was dangling and all the squash on that plant are that size. Interesting.

I use sheet metal shears to snip the squash off. Much more authoritative than a pocket knife and a clean cut too. Only 3 tomatoes today but more are coming tomorrow.

Why we love Deer

Here is today's pick. I am only picking a few each day, but even so, being single these days it is more than I am likely to eat this week.

Why we love Deer

Cal When I was in Haiti a few decades ago I had dog and I agree the dog meat has a different taste than does venisoon, but I would never be silly enough to say one tastes better than the other. I think it is all about how it is prepared and the recipe being used. And of course the skill of the cook,

Why we love Deer

Nah no pumpkin this year. Groundhogsm rabbir and red fox love pumpkin. LoL to the Lyyme disease thing. A disease invented by suburbanites for television consumption but not experienced at all by those with self acquired deer hide or antler collections.

Kal Here lots of women hunt and shoot, so I don't quite get the source for your question. Three weeks ago the red head was firing a sub machine gun and trying out a pistol silencer. My last housemate was faster at gutting a deer than I am. My wife had her own guns and although she preferred killing turkey, taking deer was not unknown to her. A woman down the road who yesterday expressed an interest in having her hair dyed by me, sh has her own deer rifle and takes them regularly from her deck. So really, what are you asking about?

Why we love Deer

Local laws stipulate I must wait till hunting season before the stolen calories can be recovered. Until then it is a chase them as they approach routine. Of course deer move and browse mostly at night so some losses before hunting season are inevitable.

Regarding the implied question, mine have been one shot kills for the past 40 something years with most just going down with a plop, like a dropped toilet seat cover. Usual range (due to thick brush) is under 35 yards, sometimes under 10 yards. The last two years the harvest was taken from my front door at about 15 yards with no need to put on my boots, much less go into the woods to find them.

Why we love Deer

This is a Butternut Squash that has been visited by a deer wandering into the veggie patch.

RE: Frequency Dimensions, Multi-Universes, Paranormal

"A band of frequencies constitute a dimension or universe."

Sorry, false. A band of frequencies is just a band of frequencies. Find another word to describe your concept and stop trying to twist the definition of Universe. A frequency is just a vibration, measured in how many per second or the length of the wave. <Wave v. Particle, noted but different topic.>

One of the problems Buhm had when formulating the Holistic Theory of the Universe (which spawned Brane or M Theory as one of the children) is while the math is there, the English words and concepts aren't. But as he said 60+ years ago, that is not an excuse to twist the definition of a word to try to make it fit the new concept. Grok this?

RE: Blogland Party: Calling All Bloggers

I can't help it if someone can't follow their nose or notice all the folks eating. I have been cooking and cooking. The tomato slices ran out two days ago. We (my helper and I) have cooked over 3300 pounds of hamburger, chicken and pork in the past two days. Over 1400 pounds of side veggies too, corn, squash, onions, peppers, etc. That doesn't even count the 2000 eggs we served up yesterday morning and today for omelets, over easy, sunny side up, quiches, etc plus a few tons of home fries and french fries. Frankly I am weary of it and need someone else to take over the BBQ.

If anyone is looking for me I will be sleeping by the kiddie pool where the pretty women are. grin

RE: it's not rocket science

Her leaving has nothing to do with how you feel. That event was based on how SHE felt. Clearly she thought better choices were out there. Some inward reflection aimed at self-improvement is probably a good idea. Was she the love of your life? Try another one and another one. In 30 years look back and decide which one was the best one.

RE: if Trump loses

Johnny We are literally at the stage where our knowledge in the hard sciences is literally doubling every six months. Our problem is getting the word out and assimilating it.

even if all new knowledge stopped coming in this evening it would probably take two decades to understand all of the consequences and interactions and publishing new text books would probably take another decade.

Any good researcher will tell you he is either redoing someone else's work or that he himself is a little behind the times in his field. He has to be. There is no way yet of knowing today what someone learned last week. You just have to wait for the article to be published, then have the right magazine subscription, then have the time to read it. Hardly anyone has all.

RE: if Trump loses

I am in my 4th week of the heat index being over 100 degrees. Today the actual temp is expected to be 100 and the index to go over 115F. Global warming, what's that? of course next year if the index passes 125 someone may rethink the denial.

Scary that I am up in the mountains. I wonder what the index is like at sea level.

RE: Goblens / Tapestries

How accurate are your Goblin works? It has been a long time since anyone has seen one around here. Do you have one as a model?>

RE: if Trump loses

How to isolate DC, Site T etc. In a siege is it needed to control the city, or just a small 6 mile quadrangle? I am sure someone looks at such things. Category IV lasers can be built into mag lite bodies. Sure, you only get a second or two of burn time, but if 10 folk have them, with planned folks to blind, that should be enough. Portable and concealable CCLAWS Isn't technology grand?

Interesting times may lay ahead.
