RE: Florence is headed to North Carolina...

The Carolina coast is in mandatory evacuation mode. The electric companies are predicting wide spread outages as many areas in the storm path still use exposed overhead power lines. Severe flooding is expected as it has been raining for several weeks already and Florence is expected to dump 8 or more inches of water on some areas.

As always some will wait to the last possible second to go to the store and buy supplies while others won't bother, then be wailing when their lights go out and they have no water or food after a few days.

RE: Burt Reynolds - died today at age 82.

No mention of how he beat Loni Anderson?

RE: Travel companion

Yes, you should. Since you are over 21 you probably have actually met other people. You should contact one of those who actually likes you (and who you get along with) and invite them to go with you.

RE: For God’s sake, give it a rest

Actually the last time God physically met with and spoke to anyone was in the time of Moses. The incident from Numbers 12 when some of the followers of Moses were upset that he had taken a new bride of Ethiopian descent and went behind Moses' back to complain to God about it. HE punished the snitches by turning them and their wives as white as snow for 7 days (described by Aaron as being the color of a dead at birth baby).

God did not speak to Mohammed. The Angel called Gabriel is who allegedly dictated the words of the Holy Qurran.

So the Numbers 12 rule remains in effect, so when someone like Jerry Falwell claimed that God appeared in his bathroom and spoke to him, those who actually read their Bible knew Jerry was just another psychotic liar. Even Joan of Arc never made a claim as outrageous as that made by Falwell. laugh

RE: Soaking up free Wi-Fi at the coffee shop...

WiFi is so slow compared to today's air cards and other broad band connections. I hardly ever allow my wifi to even turn on, much less use it for anything.

Breakthrough discussion relating to SETI

So we gather from your ramblings and grousings that you bothered to watch none of the videos. laugh

No one spends a dime in those videos. Uncle Darwin will decide if the human race needs to go on. There is discussion of that in the videos, but in any case a million years or two down the road we will not be the end product of this world. You whine about plastic, but face it, in the grand scheme of things whether or not humanity can survive in a plasticized bio sphere is not terrible important as long as something learns how to.

Breakthrough discussion relating to SETI

Just out of curiosity, how much of it have you watched?

RE: Illegal immigrants and our borders

Execute them. No one important will mind.

RE: Illegal immigrants and our borders

This is an international dating site and it is important to realize a lot of the readers wish something could be done to stop Americans from coming to their country, often for very similar reasons. laugh

RE: Breaking up

Relationship means compromise. If only one makes the compromises the relationship will fail Only if both compromise every day can a relationship last.

Building a country girl

I am trying to get her to dance school to learn a few popular dances. wave

Building a country girl

Development of the country girl continues. She has stashed away her 1911 in favor of a Glock 19.

Although previously familair with the AR 15 / M4 series of rifles yesterday in my yard I introduced her to Red Dot sights and steel targets which both move and clang when you hit them.

Embedded image from another site

She finds a red dot zeroed in for 32 yards to be a vast improvement over the old fashioned 20th century peep sights and looks forward to building her own AR next week. She isn't sure yet if she will use a conventional M4 upper or go with an ultra light pencil barrel like the guys did on Inrange (a YouTube channel) with their 'What would Stoner do?' project.

Rose Apple trees and cats.

Those are all good questions, but since we seem to have someone with such a tree who also handles the fruit, maybe if Customs allows it, she can mail the seeds to whoever wants to try growing one. wink

Rose Apple trees and cats.

Oh that is because the woman in question has a Rose Apple tree. If you had one, maybe they would. Indeed she could send you her tree and who knows, both problems may be solved at the same time.

RE: Ivanka Trump's next business venture ?

In my last communique to her I strongly suggested she talk with her Dad about letting her run in 2020. The poor Democrats won't know what to do if she does. rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Dating

You join CS and build imaginary romantic relationships with the people you meet here because you know you will never have to actually date them.

RE: How long will it take for the USA to recover from a Trump presidency.

With difficulty we recovered from Monroe and Tyler.

RE: How long will it take for the USA to recover from a Trump presidency.

Initially I didn't understand why all the Hillary lovers who promised they would flee to Canada if Trump won are still here. Then a friend in Canada told me how although some did try many failed to qualify for a residency visa. Indeed some were simply turned back at the border. A durn shame that.

NATO vs TRUMP

The economic of the UN have Zero to do with the economics or administration of other Treaty organizations Although by dragging the UN into this you raise the question what has the UN ever done for the US and why should we support it?

RE: Europe must pay their fair share of THEIR national defense

I put it elsewhere, but this is what all the NATO fuss is about.

RE: The boy/girlfriend experience

You are a 5 hour drive away. That's too far to go for just a movie and some snacks. laugh

NATO vs TRUMP

Estonia, Greece and the UK are the only 3 countries that met the 2% of GDP all of the NATO members agreed to pay back in 2014.

RE: Zone

It is a good look.

RE: Europe must pay their fair share of THEIR national defense

Well the Left is mostly controlled by Russia (and China and N. Korea0, so Russia is all for the US walking away from Europe. Russia is probably already deciding how to pare the new European sectors, and also wondering are any of the old English palaces up to modern dacha standards, or should they just be torn down and replaced with block housing?

RE: Europe must pay their fair share of THEIR national defense

Pretty slim. Most of the US weapons systems they buy are made with sub contracted parts from 3rd countries anyway. Even the steel of our tanks is, these days, imported steel. Those angry at the US would only be hurting 3rd countries (if not themselves) if they cancelled orders for assembled US systems.

RE: Europe must pay their fair share of THEIR national defense

Er, what attack?? Castro had invited the USSR in after the US rebuffed his efforts to dispose Batista.. None the less the USSR's bringing nuclear weapons into Cuba was a clear threat to the United States (as well as a clear ignoring of the Monroe Doctrine (later murdered by President Clinton). On the other hand the US overt military support of the CIA (Brigade 2506) invasion of Cuba in 1961 (Bay of Pigs) is what led to the Khrushchev & Castro decision to place tactical nuclear weapons inside Cuba in case the US tried again. The United States had already set the standard of placing at least 7 types of tactical nuclear weapons inside allied territories by placing nuclear weapons to South Korea as early as 1958 (source: ). Hoisted on our own petard. If one side does it, so can the other. I lack a certain amount of respect over how President Kennedy handled the Cuban nuclear crisis. This is because of his delay in taking any action for some time after knowing they were there. Yes, the October 1962 U-2 flight photos were not the first photos. Those U-2 flight photos were just the ones he released when he deemed it was time and politically advantageous for a confrontation. Even the White House admitted that October U-2 flight was needed because a planned KH-2 (Corona) flight (specifically planned to photograph the missiles, which means we already knew they were there) a few weeks earlier had issues. So I am not impressed with President Kennedy's handling of that issue. Noting also that in return for the removal of the Soviet nuclear weapons President Kennedy pledged there would be no more attempts by the US military to remove Fidel Castro from power and the Soviets could maintain influence in Cuba.

RE: Europe must pay their fair share of THEIR national defense

I see nothing to prevent it when we walk away from NATO and I think we should. When we signed the NATO Treaty back in 1949 it had an escape clause. All we need to do is formally denounce the Treaty to leave it. Since Russia is no longer planning to attack the US mainland as it did when it was the USSR we receive little benefit from continuing to support NATO. BTW I feel the same way about the European Union and our underwriting of the IMF too. In my opinion America would be better served long term if we left all 3 and instead focused on a new SALT II type treaty and this time around invited China, India, Pakistan and N. Korea to that table. None of the previous nuclear arms reduction talks included the not Caucasian nuclear powers. That was stupid and we (the world) may pay for that arrogance. Granted SALT II was a good thing, but other countries should have been there too.

RE: Europe must pay their fair share of THEIR national defense

In both World Wars Germany claimed the Ukraine to feed it's army and Russia reacted negatively. The Russian Civil War (leading to the then new USSR) stopped Russia from taking Germany in WWI. The presence of the allies stopped Russia at the Berlin line in WW2. If we are smart enough to both stop shipping arms to Europe and also not send our troops to fight I would fully anticipate Russia taking both Europe and England this time around. I would not shed any tears of sorrow over that, but instead tears of joy at no American lives being wasted bailing out Europe again. Sure, Russia would probably concede it's Eastern ports to China, but so what? The Atlantic and the seizure of Europe would more than compensate and the surplus European population could finally be put to doing useful work making new collective farms in the unsettled portions of Siberia.

RE: Cesarian sections vs. natural births........

The US Constitution stipulates the President must be Natural born. Therefore a candidate who was delivered by Cesarean is ineligible.

The day of the Terminator just grew

That movie came our right after Metropolis (the first movie with a robot). Sometime around 1930 no?

Then when he failed going after Sarah Connor's great grandmother, he jumped forward to the 1980s for the next movie.
