I think you will find a visit to be rather boring, beyond most people there being very friendly and nice. It will be just like visiting any other church or temple.
It is at least as valid as the study about how many of those incarcerated on hot days like ice cream. Proof positive those who like ice cream may be criminals some day.
Here we simply call it life without parole. We have many who have earned this sentence. Those states that grew weary of all the controversy of execution (caused by court rulings stretching it out into years awaiting coming of the hangman instead of doing it the morning after the sentencing) have commuted most of the execution sentences to life without parole. They are mostly very dangerous people and not simply putting them bound in a deep pit and filling it with concrete is a mistake as quite a few of them kill again even while incarcerated.
I stayed up until 2:30a, woke up and checked at 4 and 5:30. It had dropped below freezing here. Nothing. Woke up at 8am and guess who was sitting at the door demanding entry?
Moe. I gave him his overdue dinner and he is refilling his water tank now.
I know millions of cat owners leave their cats out overnight and so so for years, but I also know fairly few of those cats make it to age 10 or so. This is (beyond the days of my taking him in as a feral kitten of course) the first time he has ever been out all night.
I am incredibly relieved. My appreciation to all of you who shared my worry for him. My new task is to convince Moe he no longer wishes to go out and will be happy as an indoor cat.
The worse thing is there is not much more I can do. I have the yard lights on in case he lost the house and every 20 minutes I go to the door and call him, but I will have to sleep sometime. I am hoping I hear him at the door. Sometimes if he wants in, he bangs on the screen door, so I am checking every time the wind rattles it. If he is not back before I go to sleep I pray he is at my door in the morning. On my land alone there must be several thousand nooks and crannies he could have crawled into and I would never see him. Of course I will look more extensively in the daylight. However, I think if he had been nearby the flashlight would have picked up the gleam of the collar. If he has left my land, or crawled into a cleft in the rocks and got stuck, or something like that there is nothing I can do. I am having a mild panic attack over him and I hope he is just being mischievous.
The requirement that all behavior be stored is why the amount of Dark Matter in the Universe has apparently increased in the past 40 years. I mean it is not just human behavior and thoughts that have to be stored, but also a record of everything on every planet in every galaxy. Surely that program uses a super version of Mike Augy's Quicksort for data retrieval when you finally appear before St. Peter's intake complex and a clerk types your soul number in for data review?

I am going to hold off on the confirmation of a growing leadership in the music industry until such time as I see Muslim artists taking the lead in American Country Music and Street Rap. When their songs and videos hit the top 10 on the charts in both categories, then I will be able to confirm it, but as long as Brad Paisley and Faith Hill and Miranda Lambert are ruling country and the likes of Killer Mike and 8 Flavahz ruling the Hip Hop scene I don't see the reformation yet. :)
What you have to wonder about are the women who said yes to such an invitation. Clearly if he is old as you say this approach has worked for him enough to encourage it.
I see it as having been a very simple choice. Allow her disturbed (and previously committed for psychiatric reasons) son to continue to live with her, or, (as she wrote of doing in her blogs) keep fully loaded firearms stashed all over the apartment so she could grab one at once in the event of a hostile intruder. She opted to live in both contradictory worlds and in violation of Federal law provided him access to those weapons and said not one word to anyone when he began to acquire some of his own and store them around her home. Nine needless deaths and nine wounded folks who may not ever be right again as a direct result. She did not just enable the crime, she facilitated it. All she had to do was give up the guns and forbid him to have any in her place and nine needlessly dead folks would probably still be alive today.
A couple of years ago I was contacted by a female friend who was in jail on a felony drug charge and getting out. She wanted to come stay with me until she could get her feet under her (job, drivers license back, probation visits, etc.). Although a Federally licensed Firearms collector I (after consultation with an attorney) agreed. The process involved the removal of ALL firearms and ammunition from my home. Even my bullet proof vests had to leave the house because felons can't have body armor either. Was it a pain in the rear, and did it break my heart to have to put most things in a bonded storage facility? <There was an exception made of one handgun which was kept in bolted down, combination locked safe to which she was never given the combination to (and since it was hidden from view behind a fake wall she may have not even ever known the safe existed), which both my attorney and her probation office said was permissible. Absolutely. It didn't work out and the woman only stayed about 3 months, whatever. My stuff is back.
My point is, the second the Mom learned her son was coming out of the mental health facility she herself had him committed to, she had zero business keeping guns in her house if he was going to be living there. She made a voluntary choice to open the house to him once he reached adulthood. What she did not have a legal right to do was to allow him ready access to her loaded firearms or any ammunition. Even the recent US Supreme Ct. decision on firearms, while agreeing a non felon person has a right to possess them says except when otherwise specifically prohibited by Federal law. A law she willingly broke. If I can and did meet that standard, I can not excuse her refusal to meet the same standard.
Obviously so, since as you say, they have no problem adapting.
The thing about those 20+ year relationships is both parties realize the compromise has to be life long and the concept of being in a good relationship is worth it. Those who lack the wisdom to realize that, well their relationships never last that long.

LoL, really? Actually Caribbean is wrong too. Depends on which Island. No Visa needed for an American going to St. Thomas, St. Croix or Puerto Rico or Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Also I think you will find we need visas for Malaysia, Philippines, S. Korea, Indonesia, Burma and probably a dozen other places.
Africa, I am not sure about Liberia. Someone check that. I know lots changed after Doe, but before him no Visa was required.

I have played it. Swam in it actually. Made a few million at one point, then gambled again and lost it all. Oh well. It is only money. Sometimes it goes faster than it comes, sometimes it comes in so fast you can scarcely believe what your screen (or the statement letters) are saying. Then one or two margin calls later where did it go? Money is like the tide, it ebbs, flows, then ebbs away again as the moon rises and falls.
I do not want to see the ID papers of anyone I am pen pals with. Why would I and what on Earth for? Here in America if the wrong person knows too much, then in the morning your bank account is empty and your house was sold by you (or someone pretending to be you) while you slept. So smart folks share very little with people they never touched physically. Which is better for a woman to catch, a stupid man with lots of money and a mouth that talks to much about himself who will be a poor stupid man in a few hours, or a smart man who says he has no money? LoL, I do not even have a camera on this computer, so no Skype for me.
