RE: woman...man...

So true.

RE: The double standards of the US media

LoL, way back in the 60s the NY Daily News was sued for identifying the race of victims and assailants. They stopped. So now most papers only mention it if it is 'relevant' to the story.

RE: A Death Threat.

Also of course, the guy needs to realize, you aren't the problem. His problem is the wife's attitude to the relationship. If not you, then she would do someone else. He needs to just walk away.

RE: A Death Threat.

Does S. Africa allow you to carry a Glock or a Sig? I used to get about 8 death threats a year (usually over more serious stuff). Fortunately none of them from competent individuals. IME 70% - 85% of the time it is just someone venting steam. The others? You do what you have to do. Sometimes a first strike is a good option. What'd the local PD say?

RE: "A FEW MORE KNIGHTS"

Arthur died in 542AD. You can find an account of the opening of his burial place in Sir Thoman Mallory's writing (circa 1400AD) in a copy of Bullfinch's Mythology. Much of Le Morte d'Arthur took place in what we now call the Normandy section of France.

[Merlin's cave and a lake covered with mist are probably somewhere in there too. Many of the local swords of Arthur's time were iron. It is probable that the Lady of the Lake was a local sword maker who had made Excalibur out of steel and not iron.]

RE: Elephant Stew

How many total grams of carbohydrates per serving?

RE: Sunday of a lonely alligator...

Thanks Conrad. I knew I had seen it before, long ago in the background of some former co-workers photos of their time in country, but I never knew what it was. So seeing it again 35 years later, I grew curious.

RE: Why Knowing Good English Is Important

Some men love plump women and leave the skinny ones alone. I am hoping more such men can be born so I can have all the skinny ones. laugh

RE: food..........

I love food.

"Naturally sweet vegetables—such as corn, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, yams, onions, and squash"

LoL, many of those I planted this April. It breaks my heart that now some are ready, I am essentially no longer allowed to eat them without wasting 2 carb units in any meal they are in. So there is no point in picking and canning them as I had planned. The deer and other veggie predators are quite happy they lay fallow on the ground as an offering. moping

RE: He threatens me

Like it or not, the past is who we are and ever since the ancient Romans and Egyptians invented records, it follows us and small things we do or say are both remembered and taken into consideration on all future decisions made by others we encounter in our life later. While Christians believe in forgiveness, even that is never to be confused with forgetting. So future situations about someone, even with Christians, are tempered by past knowledge. Those who aren't Christians of course have zero reason to ever forgive something they cared about. Such issues can remain a source of contention with them for generations.. I.e., Korea and Japan, Hatfields v McCoys, etc.

Way back in the 1960s our/my teachers warned us/me, comments made by grade school teachers would be there for inspection by others to read and make decisions about our future vocations decades after we left grade school. Of course, as the teachers warned, this also applied to upper school records, police reports, and court records. Later on, after they were invented we can add credit reports to that. The teachers were 1,000$ correct. I have seen folks denied jobs simply because of a comment or report made decades ago.

One thing computers have given the folks who use them is the ability to pull up things, often (these days) without ever having to get up from a chair or even make a phone call requesting a fax copy. Thanks to the millions who made bad choices, many now use that capability for deciding on future social connections. This is good as it reduces bad choices.

We build our own records and everything we do, write or say lasts a very, very long time.

RE: Sunday of a lonely alligator...

You are looking cute, so I am sure the boys see you. What did the building there in the background use to be before the country changed?

RE: Obama Administration: Are You for It Or Not? Why?

LoL, Bush left the whole planet in a sad state. A totally lame duck President until 9/11, then a mess up afterwards.

RE: Frozen...

This is the doctor you need. Hope this cheers you up. laugh

RE: Well somebody is bound to ask this question sooner

At one minute and 27 seconds is the move that impresses the heck out of me. Sure a few seconds later the obliques pull her down, but she holds it for 5 seconds until then.

For those without the capability to see you tube on CS.

RE: How would you re-act ?

The absolute most appropriate thing for someone to do if the Mom is not in sight is simply dial 911 to report a lost kid, then ask the kid to wait with you and wait with the kid for the cops to arrive. Do not attempt to forcibly restrain the kid if the kid wishes to leave. Just stay there, give the cops the description of the kid and tell them what they said/did.

RE: confusion

If you send me $50,000 care of Western Union, I may answer this. laugh

RE: {On Dualism}

LoL, respond to the comments on the previous blog first for good CS form, before spamming with more lectures. laugh

The price of being sick

Avias, understood. Just for the record, this is an IH Cub Cadet. They came in both this late 50s early 60s red version and in later years a yellow one. Both were/are mechanical joys to work on compared to today's riding mowers, and of course usually much more trouble free.

RE: intellectually stimulating convo???

Also, some bloggers write the blog in their language first, then run google translate on it (and the responses) and hope google got the translations correct as to both words and grammar. Of course often google gets something wrong.

RE: Just thinking aloud

LoL, Jealous?

RE: Is It In Our Genes?

Cat I hope that is a posed photo. professor

Those 'patrolmen' are spaced much too close together. We see that in a lot of war movies, but then it is because if the soldiers were properly spaced, only two or three would be in sight of the camera lens. But of course actually they should have a minimum of 25 yards between them. The last patrol I went on we liked about 50 yards between us. Why make it easy for the machine gun?

laugh

RE: Profile pictures

They look so old because they never exercised a day in their life and they ate horribly and now they pay the price. Also they forgot to put in their profile ad they wear a colostomy bag and have a pacemaker too. laugh

RE: Everyone on here claims they are looking ...

Who is looking? It is like walking down the street. You ain't looking, but sure if you spot a $50 dollar bill just laying there, of course you pick it up. If you don't experience that on your way to wherever, well that's okay too.

RE: Just how intelligent are we?

E;ephants are very destructive to their native environment. Truly that is one of their main problems (besides poaching). As man encroaches their territory shrinks, but they have devastated it and need to move, but they can't, because man and his 'civilization' blocks their way.

RE: what makes Irish men the best lovers?

I think the article lied. I heard Eskimos make the best lovers.

RE: I look like a what?!?

Baaaaaaaa laugh

RE: Sort out one's life

Amen to how life changes when ill. laugh

You are doing it right. Positive thinking and sorting things out (including making some hard decisions) is the best way of pulling one's self up.

RE: You cannot avoid risk without avoiding life.

Truth. The secret is to take measured risks, not just jump head first into the pool without checking to see if there is any water in it first. It is just like playing chess. Consider the consequences both ways, check the pool, then, if you still want to, dive on in. :)

The price of being sick

Hmm, well if your growths are usually under 20" high the DR would really be overpriced overkill as it eats saplings and 7 foot grass. My primary problem with many of the newer riding mowers (I have had several, Yard Pro, Sears, etc.) is plastic and stamped out metal parts. The newer consumer oriented machines just doesn't hold up or last decades. Plus of course all riding mowers jam when the grass is mostly over a foot.

My opinion? Hold off a bit to look around and seek ye, either a Farmall A (or B, no bigger), or (best) an original International Harvester brand Cub Cadet (ignore the other brand named Cadets as the name was sold when International Harvester (IH) went bankrupt in 1982, so many cheap machines now carry the Cadet or Cub label) in running condition. Put a belly mower on it and you should (presuming reasonable maintenance) be happy for another 40 years. BTW, almost all IH parts are still available as they had a huge inventory when the died and Case purchased much of it and just tell the Case dealer the part number and $20 later, you have it. Cast iron forgings on the machines I named, with zero plastic anything.

My baby. Older than me. Currently temporarily down with a blown rear tire or else all of the meadows would have been finished by day two.
