RE: "SEASON OF THE WITCH"

I don't believe she fell in. She obviously entered through the catacombs end used for sorcery and collecting old bones, but got lost.

RE: Some blogs don´t allow comments

But what punishment should be proposed for those who insist a blog should allow comments? Already elsewhere, we have heard suggestions on how to punish those who do not allow comments. Should we not therefore balance the equation with thought of punishing those who question? rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Do you...

Op didn't say 'looks at', OP said 'looks after.' One is harmless, one isn't.

RE: Bevrijdingsdag in Nedtherland

My highschool GF's mom was in the Resistance there at that time. One of a few that survived without a betrayal taking them.
Enjoy the Freedom. It was paid for in blood and should not be taken lightly.

RE: Do you...

It is normal that some men and women try such things, but not normal that some others permit it, or continue to associate with worthless people.

My prayers and best wishes

Biggest problem I see with the V22s is while it looks good they are there, their normal operations altitude is 10,000 feet and less. Some of the mountains they will deal with are over 20,000 feet, with Mt. Everest closer to 30,000 feet. The aircraft is not pressurized and oxygen is needed above 14,000 feet and the maximum altitude is about 18,000 feet and the crew should have been on oxygen before taking off for such flights. Not designed for pressurized high altitude flight the Osprey does not normally carry much Oxygen. Also there is a hypothermia issue as the heater is designed to not heat the interior to much more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit over outside air temperatures. At 14,000 feet the outside air temperature is 9 degrees (F). At 16,000 feet, just under 2 degrees (F). Source:

So the question becomes, what altitude are the villages needing aid at?

My prayers and best wishes

Update 23:05 UTC : US Marines begin Aid operation in Nepal with the Osprey helicopters. The U.S. military made its first surveillance flight in Nepal Monday, a week after the country was hit by a devastating earthquake that’s killed more than 7,300 people.

Four tilt-rotor Osprey aircraft that can land in tight spaces flew over the disaster zones. U.S. Marine Brigadier General Paul Kennedy told CBS news he could see landslides during his flyover.
“It’s just wiping out the roads,” said Kennedy. "They’re going to have to rely immediately upon an airlift to help these folks out and then you’re going to have to start from the valley and dig your way all the way up to those villages."

Kennedy and USAID’s Bill Berger had been asked by Nepal’s government to assess the region near the Chinese border.

"We saw a great deal of devastation," said Berger after the flight. "Even the equipment to clear the roads we saw was stranded in many places along the road."

RE: Facebook is donating to Disaster Relief Fund

All persons sending money should be aware of the following..,
"Nepal Government to take all bank deposits meant for disaster relief

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) issued a circular to A, B and C class banks in the country on Thursday afternoon stating that all the amount deposited in them for the purpose of relief for Saturday’s Great Quake will be automatically transferred to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.
“Due to the disaster caused by the Great Quake, all the accounts opened in banks and financial institutions by different organizations for collecting donations will be earmarked and the amount in them will be transferred to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund,” read the circular.
The NRB has cited the powers conferred to it by section 79 of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002 for issuing the circular.
The central bank has also asked the financial institutions to send daily reports of total deposits in those accounts.
Onlinekhabar reported that Finance Minister Ram Saran Mahat brought the proposal at Thursday’s cabinet meeting."

RE: GOODBYE CS

Well good, you will still be here for the two weeks later disaster you forecast a blog or two ago. :)

RE: how you doing?

Ahh, just tweak it a bit.

Comment ally vous? O que pasa mamaseta?

RE: Gullible

Of course a second good reply would have been Viking. Viking and Penguin became sister companies in 75. Both printed it in 88/89. The Penguin Random House reprint is marked C 2008.

Stormvladv81 - Apologies for the hijack.

RE: Gullible

Ok to the nameless one who writes but blocks email replies, Page 82 I was just reminded of. LoL was looking in blogs, forgot about Forums. Yes, that was just show the importance of not telling silly lies about your reading it. Now if you had said Penguin, you would have been more credible, but you didn't. You named someone that didn't buy the Penguin for decades.

RE: Gullible

Dude that's not my words. That's the CS choice. Volunteer was the accutate one. Activist and non-profit is something CS sticks in with Volunteer.

Regarding your question, no thanks. I have spoken to enough Australians who came here to not wish to go there.

Regarding meeting LJ, nothing appeals. No thanks.

BTW, LJ, you do know Indonesia has Hindu too don't you?

RE: NEPAL IS JUST A WARNING FROM GOD! WARNING ! WARNIN

Nepal has; Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Christian and most recently Maoists. Yep blame one the those groups for an earthquake if you are silly.

RE: save the innocent

There are conflicting accounts at this second as to whether or not 8 or 9 were executed. Some websites are saying the woman got a temporary reprieve, others report the executions occurred as planned. Wait an hour and all the stories will tilt in one direction.

RE: Gullible

Sorry I misquoted elsewhere, meant Morgan not Muldoon. Dan Morgan, aka Mad Dog Morgan. Clearly we are not supposed to remember certain aspects of Australian history.

I never thought of myself as a activist. No idea where that distortion came from. laugh

From the Guardian
"49s ago18:42

Indonesian television is also reporting that the executions of eight prisoners – all men – have taken place, but that the Filipina woman, Mary Jane Veloso, was spared at the last minute, after a woman accused of tricking her into carrying drugs turned herself into police in the Philippines on Tuesday.

There are reports that the executions took place at around 00.25 local time.

I must stress that there has still been no official confirmation of either the deaths or the reprieve."

RE: A history drama I watch recently

I think the problem of convincing established officials to go along with new ideas and new goals and priorities when a new leader is appointed is a common one in every country.

RE: A Closer Look At The Wheel.

This was a great lead in to my next poll comparing the wheel to fire and which is a more important discovery.

laugh

RE: I AM JUSTIFYING MYSELF...

Does anyone else remember Mad Dog Muldoon, and how after execution his body parts were allegedly made into a tobacco pouch for the Australian warden?

RE: I AM JUSTIFYING MYSELF...

She watches from the sidelines, but cheers us on. laugh

RE: I AM JUSTIFYING MYSELF...

When a politician is elected on an anti-corruption stance, if he means it and does too much too soon, and the corruption is bad enough, sometimes accidents happen. So in such a situation the wise politician moves slowly.

RE: The Particular Beggar!

A standard fraud tactic from drug users around here is to beg at gas stations. A sympathy tale, mom is in the hospital dying, etc., I am out of gas and have no money, please loan me $5 for gas. They hang around for hours till someone tells a clerk and they get chased. Every now and then they circle the station and pull up to a different gas pump, then give the sob story to the next person in line. You want to get them upset? Don't give them $5. Instead tell them you will pay inside for $5 of gas for them. They don't want that of course because usually their tank is full and they just want more money for drugs, not yucky gas.

RE: A history drama I watch recently

In my observations rich powerful men do not like sharing their concubines, especially not with a family member. LoL, I am amazed no blood was spilled the first time, son or not.

Well in a lot of ways this sounds a lot like the story of succession from NK's Kim Il-sung. I guess not much has changed there. laugh

RE: "GO AFTER THE CONSUMERS"

It was a travesty that the people of that State had to use their tax dollars to continue Sirhan's life as long as they did. How many children could have received free lunches at school or even college scholarships with the money used to incarcerate the murderer Sirhan and keep him alive all those years?

RE: I AM JUSTIFYING MYSELF...

LoL, Sista there already exist several blogs about the inequality of the protests across the Internet. The Australians complain about those of their own to be executed, but say not one word about the condemned Africans or the Philippine woman. The Philippines object to the execution of Mary Jane, but say nothing about the Australians or the Africans. Etc. And hardly ever do any of them raise a single word of protest when Saudi Arabia or India or China execute their own drug pushers, unless it is a human slime from their own country of course. laugh

Incidently, LoL to the idea that claiming to have found Jesus as the Australian criminals are doing is proof of reforming or redemption. True proof would be their supplying the names and contact information and everything they know about prior drug deals, who paid for what, who paid what, and to who and where to find them and all that jazz going back to when they were 10 years old. Nope. Nothing like that from them. Just waving of a borrowed Bible as proof they have a new leaf and should be spared. barf very mad

Let us Be done with that. Kill them.

My prayers and best wishes

If I was young enough to be seeking a role model, CNN's Dr. Sonjay Gupta would be near the top of my list. He is on the ground in Nepal as a Doctor and surgeon today.

RE: Who Pays?

Follow CS rules. NEVER send anyone money. Never buy someone a plane ticket because they can sell it. Such has been known to happen.

Way I see it, you want to go to them, you pay. They want to go to you, they pay. First visit is always just a tourist Visa anyway with requirements and time limits. If someone does not meet the legal requirements for a Visa, maybe the other person should take warning from that?

If money is your criteria for being with someone, then so be it. Read their profile and only email the (liars) who say they are rich. :)

RE: NEPAL IS JUST A WARNING FROM GOD! WARNING ! WARNIN

Jaymack - what are you talking about? They had warning after warning. This quake was preceeded by another big one in the 1930s and there had been pre-shock after pre-shock with experts warning of another big one coming for decades. The decision to stay or not was determined by how much money they had. Nepal is one of the poorest countries on Earth. Something like 1,400 people a day left it for other countries in 2012. That's up from 3 or 4 a day in the early 1990s.

RE: Gullible

One hundred per shot, or one hundred per day?

laugh

My prayers and best wishes

True LouLou. The communication with the outside world from that country seems to mostly be via Twitter and Facebook. It seems that initially after the Maoists came to power they banned HAM radio and confiscated those they could find. A few years ago they reversed direction and began allowing HAMs again, but there are only a handful in country. Their licensing procedures allow holders of licenses from other countries to work two bands in Nepal, but most choose short range bands suitable for vehicle and hand held radios.

There is one HAM net running around 14Mhz trying to coordinate rescue agency movements, another running on 25 watts of solar power is attempting to relay messages for the National Police from inside Kathmandu. Nepal's Amateur radio repeater was in Kathmandu and runs on 145 Mhz and 434.5 Mhz. Since those are mobile frequencies the range is short and probably not heard outside of Nepal by normal receivers. Nepali HAM licenses are prefaced with 9N1, but there is a definite lack of HF traffic coming out of that country today.
