RE: Don't judge me by my past,i don't live there anymo

The roads travelled in the past are how we got here. The past shows others the things we may be pre-disposed to perhaps do again.

RE: DID YOU EVER HEARD THE NAME BOKO HARAM?

So maybe they are Russian created and armed with some of the many lost US arms shipments to Liberia and other places that leaked weapons like a sieve. Now suddenly Russia steps out of the shadows to 'help,' like they once did in Afghanistan.

So go ahead, trust the Russians, but you should also ask Ukrainians and the former Yugoslavians how that worked out for them. laugh

RE: "THEYRE GOING TO GET YOU"("SO WATCH OUT NOW")

Well all I can say is that 3.8 earthquake in the New Madrid fault zone kind of got my attention. Lots of beeping from my PCs at that. Was worried it was a pre-shok, and if so, snow would be the least of Tennessee and Kansas worries. But it didn't follow up, so it got no one yet...

RE: Singles in the middle ages

That's an absurdly high tax and probably a mistranslation given that for 2000 years the average salary of most humans was untill the 1800s only about one dinary a day. This early Roman silver coin is about the same size as an American dime. Judas was given 30 of them which, adjusted for inflation was about $7,000.

RE: "WHERE ARE THE FAITHFUL MUSLIMS OF THE WORLD?"

Rolf, what are you smoking that you write Vietnam beat the US?
LoL, not in their best wet dream. They lost every battle the US participated in.
The reality is the majority of the American voters supported neither the Domino theory, nor the need to prop up no obsolete promises to DeGaul. So in Oct 73 at the Paris table (under orders from DC) Kissinger said, whatever, and we pulled out and walked away, bored with it.
To claim a lack of continuing political interest in the whole SEATO circus was the same as one of the children (North Vietnam) winnning against the big guy is ludicrous.
The whole conflict was about French rubber intefests, and with the new Dupont Nylons, who cared about rubber anymore?

RE: FINALLY, IF RELIGION NEVER COUNTED BUT ONLY RELATI

Some truth there, Arinism was discussed and voted down (as if a vote could decide something that may be true). Arinism threatened the future shape of Christianity as if both man and later a God then he, as the man, contained imperfection (which the tale of Thomas tells us), but what was desired was never failing perfection, therefore Trinity was a more useful thought. Nevertheless, being the first Council meeting many other things came out of it, including the assembly of many scrolls (and portions of) into one Bible. Also an edict from the Emperor (several edicts actually) regarding the new Catholic Church of Rome, where the Bishop's seats would be, who would be a Bishop, and really pages of commands and decisions. That Arius had already been causing theological ripples with his Thalia scroll is irrelevant as the christians are not who called together the Council, but rather the Emperor Constantine who saw a way he could use this then obscure religion. Noting also, that although Arius left the Council branded a heretic, because Constantine's son Constantine II believed in Arinism, a few years later the vote was reversed to UN-heretic him, then when Constantine and Varius were dead as well as Arius, only then with those who would over rule them dead, was Arius and his teachings (and his followers) labeled heresy a second time.

RE: FINALLY, IF RELIGION NEVER COUNTED BUT ONLY RELATI

Semsu - Don't tell them truth, they can't handle truth. :)

In actuality the New Testament was constructed around a guy named Yuz Asaf. Also known as Issa he led a remarkable life in his first 40 years before settling down with Miriam in Kashmir to become a herder, raise a family and dying sometime in his 80s.

You are correct that the new name (Jesus) we call Yuz today was chosen by edict. Constantine was given a vast empire to rule. One containing many cultures and religions. He had no television or radio, but he needed a way of unifying his populace. Many of his soldiers worshiped Mithra, a sun god. The Hebrews worshiped their god, and there were also the Greeks and the Gauls with their Teutates as well as varied Eastern creation myths. He needed a way of unifying everyone.

So in 325 he held a convention we call the first council of Nicea. It was no 3 day affair and it lasted months. A new religion was created out of hundreds of scrolls and a dozen religions. A new written work called the Bible emerged from the cut and paste job. The Empire was carved into regions and districts and holy men assigned to preach the new religion. Those holy men who agreed left for their assignments. Those who didn't, they passed into history. Prior to this council what we today call Christianity was virtually extinct with less than 1,000 followers. Ir emerged from the council meeting as the surviving religion and the new official religion of Rome and citing Peter and Paul as the founders. Early Apostate Christians who had followed and clung to other versions of Christianity such as those preached by Thomas and Miriam were of course fed to lions for entertainment until there were none left within Roman territory.

Also known as Urocyon cinereoargenteus. They can climb trees too, sometimes raiding squirrel nests for a midnight winter snack.

RE: big window .....

LoL, I am beginning to get the impression you are trying to attract my attention. wave

Be careful the older women don't get jealous. laugh

Letting the cats out

Oh I was open to the weasel idea (always a concern as they are here), but then when I heard the yipping outside, well I knew it wasn't a weasel.

BTW, although I have seen my cats and grey fox ignoring each other, it has been reported by others they will eat small cats.

Also this cat, being an adopted local feral is somewhat of a combative *sshole. I do not regard it as being too much of a stretch for him to have been the one to start a fight wit a fox. If they both wanted the same mouse, or even if the cat saw a chance to pounce and drive it away.

I have Red Fox here too, but this is one of my local greys who was so intent on some birds she let me get way too close before she realized it and ran like *ell. :)

Since this one is probably about 30 lb, I am pretty sure it isn't what the cat was fighting. Her mate is even bigger.

Letting the cats out

BTW, we don't have feral dogs around here. The coyotes eat them fairly frequently.

Guadal - I believe that sound recording is sufficient as an identification.

RE: Wishes...

Mimi. Stop playing with your food. Eat your food, then do the laundry. Maybe later if you eat everything you will be allowed to watch a DVD AFTER the laundry is put away. laugh

RE: RIP to Kenji

Reminds one of Stalin's Army. Shooting the forces that retreated, then later shooting the forces that networked with Westerners. We were just too weary of it to listen to Patton. Later on, after they assassinated him to quiet him, they changed their mind, but too late then. moping

President future to him I mean, not a President before him.

Letting the cats out

Yep somewhere in the wild, that's a good description.

I only know that the link works on my end. I do not know about overseas. Don't know why we can't put MP3's here, but maybe later I will borrow a utube connection and put it there.. Sounds start around 7 seconds in I think. 3 calls.

Working on the rocking chair.. I learned why it had been painted so many times. To hide the tape holding one piece together. A broken slat covered with old cloth taped in place, then painted blue, then painted red, then painted black. Sigh. I am kicking around the idea of having the broken piece cloned. But which wood to use? I am discovering 3 types of wood (at least). Paint and old stain hid the differences. Then in order to install the cloned piece I will have to rip the other pieces out (peg construction, probably glued, so it will be crowbar time and that too may cause damage), so I thinking about it for right now. Pros and cons.

RE: Drawing a Sun?!

Is that 23 C, or 23 F? If C, then I wouldn't worry about it snowing. But if it is F, then maybe a heater is what you will need rather than an air conditioner. confused

Letting the cats out

LoL, he been scratching at the door for hours to go back out for another go at it. A few hours ago, I think it was calling him back out for a rematch too. laugh
