RE: The bible

LoL, The Flat Earth Society <Google it>

They claim it is all an optical illusion and trig is an illusion too.

RE: The bible

Jim, that's fine. Some people believe in a flat Earth, others believe the Bible a man put together in 324. Whatever floats the boat.

The book of Matthew was written 150 years after the Christ was born by Papias of Hierapolis although some believe it to be a rewriting of a text by Arrius Calpurnius Piso 80 years earlier, but still 35 years after the crucifixion.

Mark, about 70ad by Arrius Calpurnius Piso

Luke was done by Arrius C. Piso and Pliny the Younger around 90 ad.

Romans was put together by Proculus Piso (a son of Arrius) and Claudia Phoebe (wife of Emperor Trajan) somewhere around 100ad.

2 Corinthians, authored by Justus C. Piso somewhere around 100 - 105 ad.

And it goes on and on, the more you dig into the authorship, the more dubious the dates. Contrast that with Thomas apparently put forth by Thomas himself.

RE: Attend to one thing and lost another

That is interesting. When I was a kid we had pet River turtles. I was always paranoid about letting them jump anywhere because their shells could crack and that would be bad. Years later my parents sold them and they had grown to about that size from not much more than an inch when we started.

RE: The bible

King - BTW, take the Infancy tales with a big grain of salt, the boy falling off the roof and all that. Some of it doesn't ring true to other accounts.

RE: The bible

Yep Blasphemy. Or frigging truth if you believe Thomas. You make your pick, I will make mine. I chose Thomas decades ago.

RE: Singles and Christmas holidays!

LoL, of course you realize that getting a gentleman also on CS and near you in London to contact you for any reason is virtually impossible (and also highly improbable) if you won't put up a decent photograph of who they would be contacting??? laugh

RE: The bible

The Gospel of Thomas give a much truer account of the personality of Yuz Assaf than does the filtered edited stuff from Constantine. It is actually an older text than some of what made it into the new Bible.

What is wrong with letting the cat eat not poisoned Gecko and Spiders? My cats eat spiders all the time (one leg at a time) and I am sure if I had Geckos they would eat them too. laugh

RE: The war between two nations

I think in fairness you need to look at the environment MLK was functioning in. I wouldn't describe him as bought and paid for in any way. More like pushing the line as far as he thought he do and stay alive. I hated that man when I was a kid, but of course didn't think much of Malcom X either. And Mr. X was in my town. Those were police paid for with my parent's tax dollars shot down in the doorway of the Mosque. Around the same time frame my future spouse was dropping out of the U of VA to ride some buses for Mr. King. Later helped in the tent city on the DC Mall, but that was before you were born. She got taken by the FBI for a friendly interview one day. Back before they had their own building. Taken to meet the great man himself. J. Edgar H. They had a chat of about 3 hours length, then agents brought her back to the H St. rowhouse she stayed at and left. We have talked about that whole era. Very different perspectives. No, I would say based on 20 something years of discussion with someone who knew the bigger players, no MLK was no one's stooge.

RE: Selfie...

LoL, I was looking in picture for the products. Decided it was the table. Yawn. Never thought of the picture frames. Okay, got you. :)

RE: re:OTHER CITIES IN DANGER

Charles Askins ("Unrepentant Sinner") was asked how many men had he killed. His reply, "Twenty-six, not counting (blacks) and Mexicans."

Askins (who may have been our last real gunfighter) spent a few years in the 1930s as a Border Patrolman and allegedly got in a different gun battle every week before becoming their chief of firearms training and later joining the Army for WW2, Korea and Vietnam and retiring to San Antonio.

How silly of him to give her both of his eyes. Didn't he realize that as a husband to be he should have at least one so he could provide and take care of her? confused

RE: ain't it funny missing this site! ;)

When you are young, you miss opportunities. Eventually with enough missed opportunities behind you, one realizes to Heck with what is proper. Speak up and let them know you are interested. They may be shocked, they may recoil at you being so forward, but you know what? If you don't speak up the odds of connecting with them fall to zero as they walk away because you said nothing. So half the time he (or she) runs away because you are up front about what you want. The other half of the time the connection occurs and isn't that a lot better than nothing at all happening?

RE: my first time on Connecting Singles

Why would anyone care about past relationships? It suspect it possibly better to just find some female friends then only after that worry about developing relationships.

Did you delete the other blog on the same topic or just hide it?

RE: Photo frame

Also where'd the photo I teased go?

RE: Cute recent story about Buddy.

I believe pet animals do have, or develop souls. Association with people teaches them things. There have been several incidents where pet animals raised by humans were placed with feral animals and bad things happened to the ones who were pets. Their ways were strange and different from the feral behavior. No, that doesn''t prove a soul. But it does show something happens when we raise something or treat it with love.

Buddy's tale, the only thing surprizing me is he was able to hang on for the ride. I had pets that followed me for a mile walk to my school when I was a little kid. Filled me with fear for them too. More than once I had to keep big boys from hurting my cat and worried constantly a car would hit it or something happen to it while I was sitting in the school. More than once the poor thing was still sitting there at the end of the school day waiting to follow me home. Finally had to tell my parents to please don't let it out when I go to school and explain why. That ended that.

A decade or so ago there was a story about a dog the old man who owned the dog died at home in a small town. When the owner was buried the dog was there. He waited. He lay on top of the grave for years and wouldn't leave it. All efforts to coax it away failed. If carried away, as soon as it was released, it returned to the spot. Kind people would bring it food and someone put a dog house near the grave, but the dog would often just lay there on the spot where his owner was, waiting. Eventually the dog died, right there next to his owner. I am sure they are in Heaven together.

RE: my first ever Relationship August 22nd 2011 to De

Well you are 32 now. Let's see 2011.., you waited until you were 29 before your FIRST long term (here defined as 1 year and 3 months vs. the usual decade or more, LoL) relationship with a Girl (as opposed to a female, a lady, or a woman). Since she was a girl and not yet a woman, how old was she? I've got to tell you, teenage girls do stuff like that a lot.

<Curiosity, why are you capitalizing every word beginning with C? Is that a Capetown rule of Grammar?>

RE: smart girl...

Some of the biggest dinosaurs, who also had very big butts, had a second brain in their *ss (end of the spine actually). We can consider them to have been smart assess.

Now I am sure there may have been an upper limit on how smart the upper brain should be. Or else there would have been endless discussions about everything, and possibly arguments too. I recall an old, old case where one Siamese twin shot the other one in the head because he was angry at the one he shot. LoL, the trial was a waste of time because infection killed the other.

Alternatively, their spine may have functioned like a corpus callum and the dinosaur with two brains may actually have been much smarter than we credit them with being if they had both the equivalents of a right and a left brain. One of the holes in man's knowledge. LoL, everyone that wishes to meet a smart T-Rex raise their hands. My hand is not up because I think meeting a dumb one would be bad enough.

Now what do we mean by a 'smart woman?' Many things. Some good for us, some not so good. Some guys just want a woman that can handle a check book and find bargains with coupons. Others (weird men those) wish a woman smarter than them. Why? I have no idea. Sounds like a potential disaster in the making to me. When I say that, I just want a woman who can think, is somewhat literate (I don't give a durn which language, I just want her to be able to write her own name and read some books or a newspaper) so I can talk to her about stuff without hearing, duh? er, uh, huh?

RE: How to become popular on CS.........

Jazz is fibbing. I have seen her go for the steak knife sets and whine (just a little) laugh when I bounced one of her 8 page blogs with a 4 response post.

Only a (very) few care about collecting friends and followers. I write what I think at the moment. If it gets no replies or 200, I care not. Tis only recently after I noticed some comments about folks who don't that I started being polite enough to look at responses to some blogs I had written, then moved on and forgotten. Pologies to those who responded to blogs I wrote 2 or 3 years ago and never responded to comments left there. Didn't know I was supposed to. Mea Culpa.

This is a list of blog comments created by Ken_19.
