RE: "GHOSTS..JOKES AND GORRILAS"

Got a lot of ghosts here mostly of small pets. One came with the house, a small dog we thought. Sometimes you would just see it for a second out of the corner of your eye. Usually darting down a hallway or hiding under the dining room table. Seemed friendly enough, like it was trying to hide while figuring out who we were. Years later we described our impressions to the previous owner who confirmed a small terrier as we described had lived here once then died of a coughing illness. As more of our pets aged and passed on the rocking of the bed at night became more frequent as one or another would walk across our bed in spirit. Today it is just me here. And them. And the surviving pets who seem to more or less ignore the unseeable, except that sometimes they too feel the bed rock as something small and unseen looks for a place to lie down. I know they do because their heads go up and they look right at the place I feel the weight shifting. Poor little spirits are lonely and just repeating what they know. It is okay, they are welcome here, it's all good.

RE: to all fellow americans....happy labor day

I wish I earned enough so I could have taken off on Labor Day instead of having to work it. :(

RE: rough

You need a more attractive picture and a more attractive profile. Nothing wrong with CS as the women do write the men that interest them.

RE: "YOUR VERY FIRST SONG"

Friar Jacque Young enough to have a bottle and plastic keys dangling at the top of my bassinet.

RE: SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY

Well the paranoid will run while the others will play on the beach and eat the food the robots grew for us, harvested for us, and cooked for and serve to us per our instructions. Afterwards while some robots clean the dishes others will arrange easy listening music and chauffeur us and our dates to dances, then later on tuck us into a warm bed in a house guarded against intruders by robots, then wake us in the morning with a breakfast in bed and another day of stress free fun will begin.

RE: Opinions matter!

I prefer being honest, but sometimes when someone asks you something, they already have an opinion and it becomes how dare you have a second opinion.

RE: "SOME THINGS THAT ARE OLD"..("MICLEE"S 21st CENTURY")

So old that once I brought a $5 bill to the bank window for change and the lady gave me a $2 bill, one $1 bill, 2 half dollar coins and 1 Morgan silver dollar.

RE: "SOME THINGS THAT ARE OLD"..("MICLEE"S 21st CENTURY")

Inkwell desks? LoL, I remeber the little jars of ink and first learning to write with a quill, later replaced by a fountain pen. They didn't phase that out till the newer ball point Bics became cheap.

rags and bones is probably a satirical throwback to the older European plague era cries of 'bring out your dead'.

RE: "SOME THINGS THAT ARE OLD"..("MICLEE"S 21st CENTURY")

Party lines, yes. I like Ike buttons. Also the iceman bringing blocks of ice to the tenements and his concern that more and more folks on his route were buying refrigerators. Also the junkman in a horse drawn cart (complete with a straw hat on the horse) yelling bring out your junk and the sadness of the day when he came by truck and my friend, his horse, wasn't there, then he stopped coming all together. Watching Khruschev banging on the table with his shoe live from the UN while screaming a threat to see us buried. Being released from school when JFK was shot and watching Ruby shoot Oswald live on B&W television a day later.

RE: self Esteem of a MAN

Actually I am fascinated to learn they are sisters. wow I had no clue. laugh cheers

Tochter aus Elysium - Joy to the World

Wading through Dirac's equations and contemplating the effect of forcing a positive electron into a negative state and wondering if a dimensional rift could thus be formed and how stable would it be? This would not be a mere Zitterbewegung but something new as it would involve a exchange of wave component energy state for individual packets.

Yeah I know, potentially creating something like Stephen Kings, 'The Fog', or perhaps opening a well into a vast source of untapped free energy. As I sweep the warehouse floor, I ponder the mixing of Fermi's Sea with Dirac's sea.

Speculation as to whether or not the proper formula may be easier to puzzle out using condensed particle physics and playing with the Kondo effect rather than dealing with steady state physics. Sigh, so much additional reading is needed. Gotta love the Internet.

Tochter aus Elysium - Joy to the World

A quark is a mathematical concept and like leptons (muons, electrons and the 3 neutrino types) basic building blocks of all matter. Hadrons contain 3 quarks.

RE: Milk

When I was a kid growing up in the big city the school classes did visit a farm. Cows, chickens goats and pigs. All that jazz. It was a fun day and I believe with hindsight some impressions if not actual learning were gleaned. This was before zoning laws. They came into being back in the 60s (an evil invention with good intentions). One by one the farms were forced to close because replacing sold or dead animals without paying a huge fee was not a legal option. Also noise laws and urban sprawl. I believe about 15 years ago I read a blurb somewhere about how the last farm in that city was finally closed and the land sold to developers who had been eying the land for decades.
It is hard for me to imagine in this economy a school board approving the funding for an overnight bus trip for the first graders to go see a genuine farm. I say overnight because the nearest working farm from my old school is now about 100 miles away versus the 4 miles of my youth. So I am dubious that ALL inner city kids still get to see working farms, except maybe in movies. And then no doubt it will be some kind of silly touchy feely movie about the poor animals escaping a demonic farmer, not a this is how we make food movie.

RE: Hey guys dream come true?

Well they kill and cook the man when he turns 26. The rule is you agree to this when moving there, also to being sterilized. There is a second village down the road where the women move to when they turn 26. And another one further down for when they turn 31.
All of them have same rule.

RE: GUIDE ME PLEASE

Those born here today can retire at 72 unless a later date is chosen.

RE: YOU HAVE TO DRAW THE LINE

I wait for lies and deception. I am in the trench with them until I find those. First lie gets a warning. At the second, good luck to them cause I am gone.

RE: "TRIP TO PLUTO"

Sorry solar flare disrupted the signal reception. Trying again..

RE: Knee Defender?

The problem is the airlines and the countries that approved more seats than a passenger could be comfortable in. Instead of banning those contraptions it would probably be smarter to ban flights that don't guarantee each passenger 10 contiguous square feet of floor space. laugh

RE: Milk

Youngsters today believe milk, meat and all those foods are made in a factory and delivered to the store. There is a half truth in that someone delivers it. Too few youngsters are involved in food production anymore for them to know reality. In Western countries probably less than one in fivehundred has ever held the insides of a chicken in their hands, or plucked feathers. Probably fewer than that have any concept of how to handle a live goat, pig or steer if they are hungry and one is given to them.
Very sad and someday probably millions will starve if the stores stop.

RE: Difference between men and women on expressing

LoL, here's a song about an angry woman..

RE: My #IceBucketChallenge (Friday, Aug. 22, 2014)

Very cool. Good cause too.

Ice Bucket Challenge - Failed

Well it paid off for her moment of FaceBook fame, I will give it that. laugh

RE: Second chance

Someone broke up with her and now he wants back and is angry she is saying no. Or at least that is my interpretation.

RE: Tattoos

Crystal, what is the second Commandment?

RE: #IceBucketChallenge...

Where is the video of you taking the challenge?

RE: Second chance

Can we have more details so a more coherent answer can be formed? laugh

Ice Bucket Challenge - Failed

If course in slow motion all us males like what happens to her top too. laugh

RE: LIFE AND IT'S FRAGILITY OF IT ALL

LJ, civil engineering was my Major. Yes, rollers are one way. Hinged joints and sliding I beam joints and even counterweights and springs are all employed by various architects. Some are expensive and some not so much (and the costs of some materials/methods would drop if more builders employed those materials & methods).

The sad thing is not all areas or builders bother. Someday this will cost someone dearly.

RE: Sponge

You should use 3M scrub sponges, they last for years and don't object much to being folded.
