RE: log comment , read wisely

Sure. Three Cheers for the working person.

That done, you never did answer my response to the original blog. What did the store manager say about it?

RE: Fixing the VA

Let us also not close our eyes to the still ongoing horror stories regarding Agent Orange and the refusal of the VA to even acknowledge a problem may exist for the vets and the families of who came near that substance.

RE: Fixing the VA

Well while I agree with many of your closing arguments, I think trying to pretend the issues with VA are new and only occurred in this President's period of office is fallacious.

When I was a kid I listened to horror stories concerning the VA Hospital and a one legged, one eyed Korean War vet in our old neighborhood.

Later on I watched my father battle the VA over his own benefits.

In the 70s I did some time as a volunteer at one of the VA Hospitals and every single day I was there I saw neglect.

In the 80s I was warned, if you ever need medical attention for something, never, ever trust the VA to provide it.

In the 90s we heard the tales coming out of Walter Reed an actual Army hospital complex. Did we really assume that the VA was treating former members of the military better than the Army was treating serving members? No. We just didn't ask about VA hospitals. That is how we handled it.

Now we suddenly blame a President who is arguably one of the least influential or succesful Presidents since the days of Polk. LoL. He isn't the problem. We are.

RE: Parting time

Saying goodbye forever to friends is always hard and painful. Part of life though.

RE: co-worker agressiveness.

What did the store manager say?

RE: Looking for a new challenge...

Well I haven't seen any of my friends write that on Facebook. Not really sure how challenge relates to income. Could be they are just thinking of a long distance swim or climbing a rock wall as the new challenge.

For myself, I am trying to decide what to be when I grow up. Has nothing to do with income potential.

RE: Who's Viewed Me...

Sometimes when I am bored, I go to search, select all, then view as many as, as fast as I can for the next half hour. One should not assume this conveys any romantic interest whatsoever.

Rather instead it should be viewed as an expression of how bored I am that day. :)

RE: SUMMERS HERE UGH!

Ice cream sundae is all I need, and strawberry slurpees for the off days.

RE: Cruel & Unusual Punishment

I support that Governor's decision. Old Sparky works well.

Those who decry the death penalty ignore one very crucial thing it absolutely does solve quite well.

It is the only treatment known to absolutely discourage and completely prevent any recidivism of the crime by that individual.

In states that are run by touchy feely law makers who banned their death penalties and changed the definition of life imprisonment to not more than 20 years they now confront individuals who kill over and over. Happy I am that I live in a place where a death sentence means no repeating of that crime for you.

RE: Past is important?

Past is important. Things dismissed by the doer as a mistake of youth should be viewed as, they did it once, they may do it again and this time to you.
Both eyes wide open is the best philosophy.

RE: Is It Hard to Communicate with Military Man?

Richard is correct. We are assuming you speak of European or American members of the military. Most of them are very strongly discouraged from posting online pictures of themselves in uniform on dating sites. Many are told not to mention their employment. In some countries (includes America) some are simply told don't even communicate with Foreign Nationals, unless they wish a change of duties to something much less desirable and to spend many hours filling out written explanations of why they did that after being told not to.
The happy go lucky pre 911 days are over. Now within the military everything is why are you doing that? Who ordered you to?

So if you got some suitor sending you pictures of himself in uniform in a far away place, telling you he is a Sgt, CPT, Lt or whatever, promising love and a secure marriage, be advised he or she is probably totally fake.

RE: Third World War, A great possibility?

I would argue Japan was a small part of why we used the nukes. It was really down to scare Stalin who didn't believe we had the chutzpah to kill that many people. If we hadn't proved we could be as much of a monster as Stalin was, then the USSR would have rolled across Europe as Patton had forecast. No need to let Stalin know we only had one nuke left after Nagasaki. Let him think we had a dozen, as we scrambled to get a dozen (which took a long time).

RE: 150 Years Ago Today

I am so tired of hearing the politically correct pablum citing Ft. Sumpter as the first battle of the Civil War. It actually began in 1855 in Kansas. Those first killings were more or less ignored in those pre telegraph days, but America learned about them when US Senator Sumner was bludgeoned on the floor of the Senate for speaking out about them. In truth, if you really want to look at the first battle of the Civil War, you need to research the town of Osawatomie, Kansas in August of 1856. Everything that followed, including Ft. Sumpter grew out of that.

RE: When the red roses sweat ..

I wish the sun would shine here for just a day. My grass is waist high. Just learned all of my emails except two were deleted. Apparently because they were old and I log on so rarely these days.
:(

RE: Do you speak English ?

It is always funny, until the day you see the photos or videos her last boyfriend made about that. :)

RE: Genghis Kahn

Even more importantly Hollywood in 1965 missed knowing much about Genghis Kahn. Temujin (aka Chengis or Genghis to Hollywood) had many wives and of course concubines too. As many as 20 Million people today may be descendants of his.

RE: WHOA GOT MY ATTENTION

HARPS (which has already detected about 130 planets) shows that as many as 40% of all red dwarfs may have Earth sized planets orbiting them inside the habitable zone.

This latest one the media is making ballyhoo about is about 500 light years away. Consequently, unless someone breaks out a usable warp drive engine and builds a ship to bring us there in a reasonable time period I would postpone my excitement even if we suddenly start picking up their broadcast equivalents of Game of Thrones. I find it kind of similar to seeing a photo of a really pretty girl who I'd like to meet, then reading the caption underneath and learning it was taken in 1882. Kind of useless.

Should also be pointed out, there is (due to the lack of UV emissions from a red dwarf) no blue in the sky on such a world. There is only IR light, so red everything. Also even if habitable on one side, the world may be tidally locked with just one side facing the sun. Extreme temperature variations between the sides would be probable there. Red dwarfs tend to flare now and then. Big flares. Not sure such a world could keep it's atmosphere for long in the face of such flares.

Frankly I would postpone my interest until we find a 'class M' planet orbiting a class G star like our own. I am unaware of any such being found yet. And of course, even then, we have the problem whatever we see will be a really, really old picture of someone who lived very, very far away.

Just a heads up

Well fortunately she had other ways of reaching out to let some of us know. :)

Yeah her account is very much gone. We had about 50 emails back and forth here. Not a trace of them in my mail box. Also, search away, notmis anything can't be found (that really isn't technically a double negative cause the first one is a noun). Also all of her blog comments show up as 'profile deleted.'

I am reasonably confident she has initiated some kind of comms with CS. Hope she gets back soon one way or the other.

RE: Being a woman.....

Prenge, you need to read more on Common-Law and why most states in America threw it out a long time ago. Yes, what you write is true. Women lost all ownership rights under Common-Law once they married. Many of the marriages were arranged marriages where a large Dowry had to be paid to the parents. Likewise under Common-Law a thing called 'rule of thumb' existed. That meant the man could beat the woman with a stick any time he felt like it, BUT the stick could be no thicker than the man's thumb. Also in rural areas many wives disappeared frequently. When asked husband's reported they caught a fever and died over the winter. There were no autopsies in those days. Instead some men would just order a new wife from a newspaper ad, mail-order brides they were called. Countries shipped them by the boat load to early America. Many disappeared without a trace.

For an unknown reason many women didn't like Common-Law and once suffrage gave them the vote, it disappeared as it should have.

RE: In High Gear

That's okay. I comment on them anyway. Let the OP look or not, what do I care if it was 3 weeks old when I found it and deemed something there worthy of my comment. Of course even if the OP does reply, that doesn't guarantee I will go back to look and see if they did reply, not in the next 2 months anyway. LoL

RE: Excited For A New Home ...

Also here, if you do work on the house and the sale doesn't finalize, any improvements you made, any furnishing or appliances you bought and put in the home, that is the property of the house owner not the person who donated the improvements. :)

My best advice is wait till the legal papers are finished and filed in whatever court they are supposed to be filed with.

RE: oh another marriage proposal

Please do not forget to include your credit card info when writing them back. So many forget that and force the suitor to ask them for a loan instead of voluntarily opening their e-wallets to them on first contact. That is so rude. :)

RE: midless matter of leah

Watching the video of course. :)

[Hmm, I hadn't realized she needs to lose a few pounds.]

Merry Christmas

The bells on the reindeer sleigh always wake the dogs. Can't be helped.

RE: FEAR AND MOVING ON

Didn't I see something somewhere about enjoyment of the sight of blood inside the ER? Some would call that a scary attitude for a health professional. LoL

Hmm, is 'conquered marriage' truly the way you view being the surviving spouse? I don't see my own experience in those terms. For me it was 'adjusted to marriage and I was making a good go of it when the Ferris wheel suddenly stopped.' If she came back and I could marry her again, I would in a heartbeat. Nuff said about that.

I don't see how long you have been widowed in your writing here, so maybe it is just too soon. So hard to pretend everything is normal and carry on like everything is just peachy, when it ain't and won't be again for a long time. A widower myself, I understand that. When you are ready you will know it. You need to sit back and decide who you are and what you wish to be.

Beyond that, I wish my partners to be friends, so when someone tells me they don't wish to also (hopefully first) be friends, I kind of back off a little bit. I did the casual thing decades ago. Been there, done that. It ain't all that. Having someone who is a genuine friend you are comfortable with too is better than someone who is just all about the moment. I think I should be happy with that person first, then and only then, worry about if I love them. Maybe somewhere you are seeing that if they love you that much, you need more time before you can feel the same?

Maybe you need more options?

RE: Freebird .... ???

A Free Bird is a close relative of, but quite different in personality from, the
Yellow Bird up high in Bannana Tree.

RE: WHY DO I READ YOUR PROFILES LADIES AND GENTS

I do not mind at all. T'is only fair since I looked at yours first. :)

RE: A quick fix on the yawnings

Be glad you don't have to eat Turkey on T day here. Guaranteed to make you sleepy afterwards. :)

RE: from where we left

Under the Dome is a good book. I am not sure about the television show based on it though. It seems to never be on when I remember it. :(

NMT it is good to see you back. Or it was anyway. Sorry also to see Profile Deleted is gone.
