RE: Do black people make bad parents?

This blog is so 1970s in America right after the Civil Rights Act was passed. Just gonna sit here and chew the popcorn and laugh.

RE: A Misconception To Clear Up

Christian Churches were originally set up as meeting places. Where community could come together and announcements be disbursed. Remember the first Catholic priests operated under the authority of Constantine (aka Govt and were covert govt. agents) and 'have you hidden any taxes?' was one of the mandated 'confession' topics in the first century of Church existence. Centuries later the church is still a major place to meet and share with neighbors and attendance at a church is as much for sharing gossip as it is about religion. So never mistake the fact someone goes to a church as a belief in the religion. It is usually more accurate to believe they wish to speak with a friend or a neighbor they haven't seen all week, than to presume they have a religion. God belongs to no religion and certainly is not on the rolls of tithe paying membership of any church.

So no. They are not a Christian just because they attend a church service. One must examine their life in entirety before making such a determination and also note there are many Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim and Agnostics who God will probably let into Heaven no matter what Constantines' Bible said about that.

The last tomato

Peony, It isn't a problem. They have approved places to go where kitty litter awaits them, and at least one uses the same toilet as the humans here. Like I said, trained.

Itchy, no sliced is better. With onion and mayo. Ymmm.

The last tomato

Or their close cousins the Malaysian tomato women. I have seen indicators they may have already swipped some of my tomatoes in the past which is why after ascertaining there was no frost damage to this one and it was still firm and perfect I secured it in the food safe. :)

RE: Any Female looking for me?

LoL, with 2 cases there now and one of them deceased today, I wouldn't blame anyone for seeking an exit from Dallas, TX.

RE: Still The Same Old Faces.

Well, I use clone external HDs, with a converter card that makes them accessible via USB. Slow but meticulous tib files. Once a week always, sometimes twice a week. Newest Acronis allows saving to the cloud I see. Not sure I wish to do that. Encrypted save or not. We had problems at Army with stuff saved to the cloud suddenly being hard to find if the wrong server was down at that moment. Of course we were dealing with 100s of Tbytes, so maybe the problem isn't noticeable with only a few gigs. For me, 2 or 3 identical WD drives as cloned spares seem to work quite well.

RE: Any Female looking for me?

Smart he is American if he was born here, or if he has a Govt issued piece of paper declaring him American. <Personally, I doubt either is true.>

RE: Still The Same Old Faces.

Hey Cat. The Kal was looking for you the other day. Not the El Kal, but the other one.

Well, I wouldn't waste money on a tape drive for backups. Been there done that. Wasted some bucks on one of those thingies a few decades ago. Expensive tapes too. It always backed up just fine I thought. Then one day I needed one of the back ups. That is when I learned not a single one of the carefully saved tapes was readable to the machine that had created them. All of them were created with read errors in the header block. doh crying

What I use and find works well is Acronis True Image. I have multiple cloned HDs for this machine and all of them are usable. You may wish to check Acronis out. Acronis.com

RE: You Know I have to Rock the Boat from Time to Time

When we eat meat we killed and prepped ourselves we realize this truly is a dog eat dog Universe and any other view is a pretense. When some go to McD or BK for a burger, they like to pretend (in the same fashion people buying street drugs pretend) they have nothing to do with the killings involved. For those removed from the smell of the blood and waiting for the twitches to stop, such is easy.

RE: Any Female looking for me?

Smart it is really hard to do that from the mail page. :)

Raise your hand if you do not believe he is anywhere near the US much less in Texas (where the girls are very plentiful and IME & observation often wear very little in the summertime). wave

Relocate to where? Er, whatever place the stupid girl who responds in search of romance says she is in.

Awakend by a kiss???

It is a chili type I am not familiar with. Looked in photo like a large Concord or an olive, but the leaves were wrong. :)

Just don't understand the delete thing. Wanted to know, but not so badly I would stay up for 23 hr in the hope of a response. What if no response, then I would be sleepy all day. :( Better to sleep and look in the AM, which I did..

Awakend by a kiss???

Tis a fairly good ward spell around this place I think. Goes way up in the sky and down to Stygian depths too, also a long ways back in time (to the last real ELE at least) and forward to only a few days before our G star slides into type K status. Walled at both ends of the timeline of course and spherical elsewhere so bad luck just slides elsewhere (or bounces back). Borrowed energy from someone's nuclear test for it, which fizzled of course and no doubt they still have no clue why it went pffft instead of Woom. T'will be at least 200 years before their technology gets to understanding that, which is long after I will care.

Awakend by a kiss???

Kal if you respond then delete everything at a time the people you respond to are probably asleep and haven't seen the response yet, that's the same as not responding IMO.

Hopping along.. Off to the Post Office to mail in medical records to the Workmen's Comp folk.

RE: What A Drab Existence!!

I have had many jobs with such a shift. I find it isn't bad at all, especially if you do 3 on, 1 off, 1 on, then 2 off. What I hate is when it is days one week, then nights the next week and so on. I much prefer one or the other and can effectively plan around that. Also adjustment of my bio-rhythms is easier when there is little change.

RE: Money Talks...Indeed

The joke on him will be when the GF dumps him and he tries to get the money back from her daughter. He best not touch a dime of it anytime soon. laugh

RE: laughable but bitter reality

Not all men are fertile (this is called infertility and there are many causes) and there do exist women who get surprise pregnancies because their ovaries forgot to check the calendar and the temperature before releasing an egg.

RE: The Future is Now

It is a niche industry in serious trouble due to their failure to recognize changing times and technology in time. Once upon a time it was all specialized expensive equipment available only to a few. These days, I know of several households with recording studio setups in them. Capable of doing everything from making the recording to filtering the recording with parametric filters and pressing out the CDs with labels of their own. Who needs the big names when you can Internet Social Media & market? Dinosaurs is what the record companies have become.
Similar for the book publishing companies in an era of PDF and Kindle.

RE: Cool Change

I should insist NASA actually build the ship, then give me a ride to a place with always warm nights but not hot in the day time. laugh

RE: Cool Change

Well normally I lounge around the house in skivies all day and night and sleep on top of the sheets with the windows wide open, but last night was cool enough so that I not only closed the windows but also put on some PJ pants (that fit over the cast without tearing). We has lower 40s on the F scale last night, maybe even a little cooler than that somewhere around 3:30am.

Warp drive progress

Organic mass inside the field should be utterly unaffected since the field effectively has exited this Universe and created it's own for the duration of the field being on. Likewise, inertia is not an issue since inertia results from interactions in this Universe and the ship isn't there.

Outside the ship however may be a different story. The shape chosen for the field has effects outside the field. Not least is the possibility of using a field interactions as a lethal Gamma Ray emitter of enormous power projecting forward of the ship's direction of travel for many light years. This particular arrangement of the ship's fields would pretty much have to be done intentionally as the shape would be very inefficient for travel. Still because of this any such interstellar craft should also be considered a Weapon of Mass Destruction of unparallelled (to human experience) size & power, at the whim of it's operators. Collisions are an interesting thing also. Those inside the ship have zero way of knowing what lays outside the ship's fields. The good news is the nature of the fields curvature would for the most part act as deflective shielding for most items of less than a few dozen tons and sweep them around the vessel. Some thought must be given to any plotting of a course. What would happen if such a ship's course intersected with a planet sized object or star is wholly unknown.

Warp drive progress

One of my favorite lines from one of the papers..
"As the amount of negative mass approaches 5000 kg, the specific mass of the spacecraft approaches zero, and the transit time becomes exceedingly small, approaching zero in the limit."

In short, the ship goes from here to Tau Ceti so quickly you don't realize you are already there. :)
