RE: More Dehumanization

I mean jobs taken rather than lost.

RE: More Dehumanization

An old argument dating back to the days of GM's first automated car assembly plant. Really the jobs lost by those early (non-humanoid) robots in the late 60s contributed greatly (as planned) to breaking the back of the UAW. We (society) is already experimenting with automated cars that drive themselves along pre-programmed routes and report their precise positions (and speeds) to other cars and law enforcement. Delivery trucks that can do this will not be far behind.

The good news is we are still years away from a humanoid appearing robot adult shoppers will feel comfortable interacting with. If it looks like the robot that Flo disables on the Progressive commercials the job of the Walmart Greeter is safe for awhile.

This early dawn of the age of robotics is perhaps the best argument for Socialism to replace Capitalism in the US. Opponents of that however will argue a future job for the human worker who continues their education beyond just 4 years of college will always exist, so it is our fault we are unemployed because we are just lazy.

RE: good news or bad news ?

LoL, actually we long term CS folk have seen some from the Philippines who stand up for themselves. Sigh, miss them too. laugh

RE: need a female friend in delhi, india

Use the search bar. Select India. There are numerous women from India on CS.

RE: Driver's Education?

Jim - Noted. Several have told me that. Over and over at different incidents. :)

RE: these kinds of people part 2

Hi Cloud. I used to garage a taxi in Astoria. Is the Merrygoround still in business on Q Blvd? Picked up lots of fares of 'those kind of people' there after the sun went down. Brought a few there too. Haven't been back there in about 25 years or more, so I don't know if it still exists.

Reality is 'those kinds of people' (dumb folk with lots of need to prove they ain't so inferior and are the true leaders of the pack (in their dreams)) are everywhere on the planet. You can't hide from them because like flies they exist everywhere. Best solution is learn to just deal with them in the most effective manner.

RE: why I don't eat pork ?

Be careful using only Google as the reference tool. It is not in the New Testament where the prohibition against Pork is found, but in the Laws of Moses. It is very probable that long ago prohibition related specifically to Trichinosis and the difficulty in properly cooking pork over a camp fire.

I would imagine buying a live pig to eat in a marketplace is a tricky proposition. However it should be noted that if you can postpone eating it a week or two, and keep it in a worm free (frequently) clean(ed) enclosure, there do exist meds that can kill the worms without killing the pig. Even if not, proper cooking does indeed kill the Trichinosis and transforms the worms into just more meat.

Regarding Cholesterol. Our bodies need some cholesterol to stay alive. If you totally lack cholesterol in your diet, fear not, your own liver will happily manufacture some and pump it into your blood stream. laugh

RE: why I don't eat pork ?

Of course I will. In America we cook the pork. Also we do not market pigs that have worms.

RE: Quote Today ^_^

Hi Taihoan. Welcome to the blogs.

123 I amended your post with another blast down my own memory lane.

RE: Damaged Goods....

Some of it is experience, some is common sense. For me, I try hard not to carry any old baggage into the new relationship. Sometimes though that becomes hard though as we start getting Deja Vu feelings in certain situations and perhaps react to those situations before all the facts are in. Still, one must remember, to thine own self be true, so maybe we set ourselves up for a fall if we ignore some things instead of speaking out early, but then she says why are you so controlling? So we can't win. laugh

RE: Arghhh! I AM GLAD TODAY IS A NEW DAY!!

Calliopesgal Hi. I am not understanding your reply. Of course it is your choice, but saying you can't because it is an old truck is nonsensical.

Here is my work truck. It is a 1989 F-250. You can clearly see the lockable & bolted down tool box of the type I wrote of sitting in the bed behind the cab. Just about all the supplies I mention are in there (other stuff too, wheel chocks, spare 12v battery, etc.). What on earth would the age of the truck (used to haul bales of hay) have to do with the presence of a tool box?

RE: The Blog that Wasn't a Blog but a Thread

The Blog is what you wrote. The Thread is the whole thing, including the responses to your Blog.

RE: What do you think

laugh Hopefully the pictures he saw of you during the development of the friendship were true recent photos of you. We agree that if you only supplied photos of someone else, or even of you, but 20 years ago, well Houston, we may have a problem..

RE: A Man Should Love His Own Wife As...

I think 1 Corinthians 7 sums up best how the relationship should work. :)

RE: i believe some of this......

"Light candles on the night after November 1. One for each deceased relative should be placed in the window in the room where death occurred."

LoL, in America hardly anyone is permitted to die at home anymore. The hospitals would make no money if that was allowed. You go there sick, they admit you and you die there. The longer they can postpone having to declare your corpse dead, the longer they can bill someone. Point of fact we now have many facilities solely dedicated to denying a person's shell the peace of death. Warehouses where the dying are shipped so that they can be connected to kidney machines and heart lung machines so that even though their brain died weeks or months earlier as long as the machines are connected and running, inheritances can legally be postpone (due to lack of a death certificate), and bills can still be sent out. Indeed, often a court order is needed to turn the electronics off and force a pronouncement of death. Sometimes getting the court order can take years, especially if there is a large estate someone not in the will is living off of. But dying at home so candles can be placed? NO no no. That is simply not allowed in a modern society. laugh

Birds. What if someone keeps birds as a pet? How long must we wait for the signed death to occur? Parrots can live 100 years and often outlive their first owner.

Pregnant women not attend funerals. Possibly real good advice if the dead died of something contagious. Fleas may be present.

In any group of 1000 people, at least 3 are usually dead by the end of the year. That is how statistics work.

"You must hold your breath while going past a cemetery or you will breathe in the spirit of someone who has recently died."

That may work for small cemeteries. But America has some really large ones and even a SCUBA tank doesn't hold enough air for walking by them.

If a dead persons eyes are open, cover them with a penny. He or she will need the money for Charon when being ferried across the river Styx.

RE: Arghhh! I AM GLAD TODAY IS A NEW DAY!!

Oh, and keep a Leatherman (or Pep Boy $3 equivalent) in your glove box too. Handy little things..

RE: Parents

A song about women growing old, missing the window for children and all by age 31. laugh

RE: when things go wrong

What I am being told as none of the other men she had ever dated reacted in such a clear absolute way. Often they would just react like in Cal's blog and he would start hitting on her friends or do some new girl. Then it would all become an open relationship, unless the anger got physical and either way sooner or later she would just move on to someone new. Somehow this had become ingrained, so the idea that the deed itself would be a relationship ender just wasn't in her brain until it was too late.

RE: Tom n his Boss

Good one.

RE: men

LoL, us men have the same complaint about some women.

Not a wasted day, although not productive either

Angel, those things (turkey fillets) would require more than just one 44 cent stamp. If, I was inclined to mail one, and anyway, don't think mailing game meat is legal anyway.

RE: A little break from my surgery.

Well certainly hope that is the end of tumors for you. Get well soon.

RE: Looking Out

Farrakhan? Is he still lurching around? I had to listen to him babbling about atone and Egypt's Aten god during the speeches at the Million Man March thing. Hours and hours of it. Finished the work day with the impression he had some very strange meds. laugh

Yeah sure, back in the days of Elijah Mohammed and Malcom X a claim could be made for it being a Muslim movement, but Minister Farrakhan has greatly diverged from Elijah's original preaching. Regardless, no one should mistake the American Black Muslim movement for the radical stuff coming out of the mid East. Totally different philosophies and goals with the only thing in common being the Quran and the word.

RE: I'm Falling For 2

No good detective would shoot a boyfriend when there are so many more interesting ways to create a corpse. Electrocution is good. So is nitroglycerine in the refrigerator, etc., etc.

RE: searching a bride

I thought that was the person who owned all the Hyatt hotels? laugh

RE: "HIGH WIRE ACT"..(SAFE TOO)

We sometimes (when incredibly bored) hunt the Fox squirrel. Blacks and their sibling Grays are much more common though. In honesty it has been a dozen years since I have even seen a wild red squirrel.

RE: Have you seen him??...

cswelcome

i Sista. I am sure he will be back. I loaned him some money a little while ago and he was heading to Pizza Hut to bring back two Supremes and also to 7-11 to grab a 12 pack of buds to wash the beers down with. When he gets back I will tell him you are looking for him. beer

RE: Y

Not at all sure why you even imagine that. Some folks I have 'met' here, well, let's just say I am happy they consider me a friend and I am pleased that God has blessed me with knowing them.

RE: Can somebody know the problem ?

I have seen that before. I rebooted and everything worked normally.

RE: Just a funny message...

When they are fake, blocking them is correct. :)
