LIFE AND IT'S FRAGILITY OF IT ALL

Right by the doorstep of our lives, comes destruction not from the doings of man but from the unquestionable force of nature.

I was startled by the news that woke me up. A 6.0 earthquake registered on the Richter scale hit the heart of the WINE CAPITAL of the world. My hometown for the last 35 years.

The point of my blog is that here we are, with the majority of the super powers of our planet busy scheming for the elimination of mankind when in fact NATURE, in itself can do that in a split second. The worse part is whether we like it or not, there's nothing we can do.
When typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines in October of last year, 15,000 people perished, and many major Natural catastrophe have happened that cost man so much strife and destruction.

Now look at us, why can't we just use all our efforts to better our lives and leave nature to do its job of destroying us?

Thanks for reading, and I'd ask all of us who are interested to contribute or talk about any natural disasters that you are aware of whether involved directly or read about it. Is there anything we can learn from it?

Thanks for reading and commenting.

G good morning, yes to all your comments.
How is your beautiful country?
Lyndsy Yes, Mother Earth is to be revered and respected. Which hasnt been done in many years of over harvesting, pollution, Nuclear Testing and Deforestation. We are at her mercy.
Behind this is an ever greater force that people have forgotten about too. We as humans are now without gratitude for the simple things like safety and food and shelter and greed rules.
Be safe.wine
LJ,

I was unaware of the earthquake that hit your area until now...reading your blog...hope your okay...Vancouver is supposed to face a major earthquake eventually within the next 10 years...so they say...but I think most people will be unprepared for the event...I just hope I am not working when it happens...I cannot imagine the lives lost or the destruction that will occur. Nature is a beautiful and dangerous force...we have no control over her many storms but we can control ourselves if we want to...but I think greed has taken over and no man thinks about the future anymore...gratification now seems to be the theme...
Ito, yes and part of the strength I put on my belief that there's God is precisely these occurrence that is beyond man to put his hands on. There's got to be a Supreme being beyond any doubt who's doing is tied up to natures fury and blessings. Like I mentioned we didn't ask to be born, we didn't order our make up on the genetics and or development, we're gifted with life. So I'm sure in line with this thinking, there's God. But only through one's acceptance and or faith that it makes sense.

Thanks Ito
Lindsey hi girl, why bring god into it?The whole world(EARTH)cosmos has bean shacking for ever and will not stop, just hang on as best you canrolling on the floor laughing cheers
Jim thanks, my oldest daughter lives about 5 miles from the center and just bought their house last year, built about 15 years ago and it probably stood safe due to building codes.
Had this happened in the third world or specially the Philippines where codes are jokes, I've no doubt thousands would have been dead.

They are safe Jim, thanks
Thanks Ed, did it ever affected you?
Lindy, you live on the fault line?you all know it.i was at huntington beach in 88 and was thrown out of bed(wow scary stuff indeed)the power of nature leaves all our powers look some how?add your own to thatcheers
Ed I'm not sure if you felt it at all but yes the kids and everyone are also fine.
Yes Lou my friend. The latest report is the major one is going to happen soon. Much like that of the 1905 one which wiped out the whole of San Francisco.

We just have to be aware and be ready hopefully when it happens.

I'm so sad about man's dispositions on matters we can control and it is so disappointing that we don't have a united efforts to better our only one planet my dear friend.
Scouse, please read my profile and then you know where I stand.
Thanks
Yes, San Andreas fault runs parallel to my house and when it happens only God knows what is going to happen.

Thanks anyway Scouse.
Hi Lindsy my friend. Hope your family is alright?

I agree with that Scouse is saying here:

"Lindsey hi girl, why bring god into it?The whole world(EARTH)cosmos has bean shacking for ever and will not stop, just hang on as best you can"...

I´am afraid that earthquakes have nothing to do with humans. If you leave on a fault line, that´s what happens? dunno

It is true, and I believe, that we can affect the weather (hurricanes, tornados, global warming etc.) with our emotions, but earthquakes we cannot. It´s just a natural disaster which happens not only on our planet, but also on others.

My beautiful friend, yes thank God all is fine but we're really predestined for the big one due to the prominent activities of the San Andreas fault, and it is believed based on scientific studies that it'll be a major catastrophe.

Thanks my friend.
within 10 thousand years all of californis west of the fault will be up where alaska is now.....what happens in between that time is another story.....
Yes Lindsy, I know as I´ve been looking at the map and the predictions.
I happen to have a friend who lives in Chico (a "special" friend) who wanted me to go and visit him... He lives right on the San Andreas fault!doh

I just hope he is alright as I haven´t heard from him for a little while?

Please keep us informed.hug bouquet
Its only what you say ....that will give yourself away...
Nam, that is about right and, 10,000 seems so far away but in the meantime those tremors will definitely shape the future of our lives.
Thanks Nam.
Thge western plate ...thats moving...adds about 1 inch per year...but the problem is ..it doesnt move that inch....its stored until it comes to the breaking point...and the more it stores...the worst it will be......
I will my friend, but yes Chico area is about three hours away from me but the line is in the same direction of that infamous fault. All building codes in the Bay Areas had been reinforced and applied to be able to withstand the magnitude similar to that of the 1905 which LABELED, the whole Area. Not a single building left standing.

In 1989, the Cypress bridge which killed so many was only minutes away from me when it happened. I was visiting my relatives from San Jose and on my way home, bam it happened. I couldn't steer my car and the road was billowing like the rolling hills,. That's one of the scariest experience I ever had.

Thanks my friend and I'll keep you posted.
It's fascinating to know that at one time, billion of years past, the earth was supposedly one piece and of course, science has now sufficient evidence that as it circles with the sun, it tilts and billions of years shaped it to how it appears today.

Thanks Nam.
Lindsy,my sister lives in san jose and knows all the pit falls of living on the faultrolling on the floor laughing WHY DO YOU MAKE IT A BIG DRAMATIC DEALrolling on the floor laughing LIKE I TOLD MY SISTER (COME BACK TO CIVERLISED EUROPE)rolling on the floor laughing SHE GAVE ME THE ANSWER YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE MErolling on the floor laughing Sorry I was stuck on capitalsrolling on the floor laughing cheers
Hi LJ, good to hear you are ok. hug

I think everything in our life we have no influence on whatsoever is just scary.
On the contrary Scouse, I'm no more making it dramatic as any of you, having made the Holocaust. But the truth of the matter is, disasters are just as volatile as anywhere in the world. There's no number that equates where's the safest place to live based on nature's verdict, more than as that of the terrors that are man made.
But the thrill of it all is the moment to moment or the day to day account, life is peachy cream.

I'm not going to trade my place to anywhere in the world except perhaps Switzerland, and or Australia, of which hold my greatest memories that if given a choice, it's where I'd live.
Thanks Scouse.
KN, my darling friend, I'm fine and so all my kids, thanks.

And yes just reaffirm the fact that when nature does the accounting, we can only conform and comply. Scary and be afraid suits our sentiments.

Thanks.
Perhaps in many ways yes, but the population on such a continent is way too much Scouse, with the exception of Switzerland and maybe, Norway?
Should have said LEVELLED, OR FLATENNED, the Bay Area.
Being fake never holds any value in my realms, sorry for the typo. Am typing with my Samsung 5.
confusion reigns here.........motorcycle
Nam, you're so right but the manner of which was done was by far the most cruel act recorded by man.

Annihilation of mankind done by callous and evil man is beyond me to understand Nam.
Scouse let's just say that granting without admitting that I am fake, is there any harm I've done to you? Judge yourself and I'll do mine. I've skyped to so many on here including Iotaoo, Nonsmoker, and physically met many bloggers and you're too crude and brusque to make such a personal judgment on me where it calls for no reason. Two of my greatest love happened here and those pictures on my profile are very recent and most of them were taken by him that I loved then. I am 63 years old and yes 20 years look younger than my age.

You don't need to make it a big deal, please?
I don't think I did anything to merit such a condescending attitude. If not even cynical and plain cruel.

Lindsey, so sorry you have been through such a terrible time near where you live. I hope that no one was hurt by this earthquake... I had not heard of it till I have just read now. hug

Reading through some of the comments I realize that our beautiful Mother Earth whilst she deals out some pain at times .. it is all natural... I worry so much more about the unrest of peoples hardness off hearts and the need to hurt another human being.. purposefully either with unkind words or actions. Mother Earth is under the law of the earth and universe ... what has to be done has to happen..WE as human beings can chose what we want to do or say that can hurt and damage another. It amazes me that man.. and ONE man ALONE.. can cause so much pain and devistation to another by unkind and cruel acts.
It all starts with you and me... how we treat each other.

Thanks for your blog and your insight into things.. always you do with desire for a better world and sadness for the heartbreak that disasters can bring. hug teddybear hug
